Apple iTunes Review Summary

Apples’ iPod has become the standard in portal music and iTunes is the software program used to download music into it and or organize it. The community has nothing but (mostly) admiration for Apple’s music management program, saying that “Apple’s iTunes is by far one of the best music players and music stores for the computer today,” among other glowing accolades. With iTunes (now on version 7.6) users can not only organize their music, but also download new music from Apple’s iTunes Store at a cost of $.99 a track. The great feature of ITunes is its ability to synchronize with just about any MP3 player; this is an ability our community of reviewers appreciated; one stated that “All of the music can be played through the player, burned to a CD, or played on an iPod or mP3 player.” Read what our reviewers have to say about Apple iTunes.

By now, you have heard of Itunes.  The website that let's you download music for .99 cents a song. You know you can burn them to a disk or load them on your ipod.

But do you know what happens if your computer crashes and you lose your ENTIRE Itunes library and you didn't back up your songs on disk?

Neither...

At first it seems like a good deal - only 99 cents per song!  But if there are more than 15 songs on a CD you end up paying more to buy them individually than you would to buy the CD.  And the songs can only be  played on an ipod!  What if I have a different MP3 player, I have to download another... review »

It took me one hour of playing around in the iTunes stores to get completely hooked. I didn't even own an iPod, but my notebook had plenty of room to store all the songs I was suddenly finding: hits from my high school years, as well as things I never knew existed.

With its excellent search features, this user-friendly site brings the entire world to you via its music. You'll easily find today's hits, and the site's biggest-selling songs. Search by genre to locate Broadway soundtracks, jazz standards (several versions in many cases), gangsta rap, electronica, country, or whatever gets your...

Intro
I've been using iTunes since Apple first developed it, when it was still just a music player, and didn't have a store built into it. Being it's an Apple product, though, they make improvements to it fairly often, with each one making it all that much better. By the time the Store function was added on, for me there was no going back.

Organization

The original attraction with iTunes was the organization of the individual music files, so that you could organize them by artist, album, etc. Just a few years later, and they now have a store to download songs, entire albums, movies, televisions...

I am so glad I tried "Itunes." You can buy and download songs, music videos and even movies and TV shows. I have not purchased movies and TV shows there, but I have bought a few music videos and a lot of songs. Even songs that are rare to find, however, there were some songs I couldn't find that I wanted to get.

At first, when I bought some music videos, I thought I could play them on my DVD player. I later learned I couldn't when I submitted a query to support. What stinks is that I would have to buy some things (expensive) to be able to view the music videos on my TV. I'm grateful though that...

"Okay guys, what can you think of to make the worst program ever?" said Steve Jobs to his staff at Apple Headquarters.

"Well, we could make a music program of some sort that probably hogs a lot of system memory!" scoffed one programmer.

"And while we're at it," added another, "why not encode purchased music so it's unusable outside of the program? We could also make an exceedingly popular music device to go along with it that can only use this program."

"I love it! But what do we call it?" said Steve.

"iTunes," said the first programmer, "no one will escape."

I have 40 gigs of music on my computer...

Apple's iTunes is by far one of the best music players and music stores for the computer today. The music player side is very easy to use and it's easy to import songs from files on the computer or from CDs, and it's easy to burn music onto CDs.

The music store side is great too. It has a huge inventory of songs and albums from many artists and bands, and it's usually cheaper than buying the CD. One of the best things about the store is that you can purchase songs individually. I especially like this because there are certain artists who have only one or two songs that I like. It's also a great...

While I thought the iPod was a passing fad, I thought also the same of iTunes. I learned, however that I was wrong and that iTunes has staying power and the power to revolutionize the music industry. The inventory continues to grow and you can purchase songs from many generations, genres and countries. I am impressed at the growing number of classical selections and the number of selections released by artists only for iTunes.

I use iTunes, because I have an iPod. I don't know if there are other alternatives and if there are, I am sure it's a pain to set up. The original iTunes I had when I got the iPod was fine, but it seems like all the upgrades since have made the program slow and cumbersome.

First of all, I hate the addition of the "Genius," a sales tool. It takes inventory of your songs and suggests new ones for you to buy. At first, Genius evaluated your purchases, but now it evaluates all songs and movies in your library. It makes this thing a slow memory hog. It takes forever to open the iTunes store because...

iTune trap!  Be very very careful.  I fell in line, I was given a iPod Shuffle (first generation).  I downloaded music and spent plenty of money on music I felt was totally worth it.

Until....I bought a phone with a built in MP3 player and found out none of the music I bought could be used on it because iTunes does not allow you to convert your songs to MP3 format.

Yup you got it, you MUSTuse their songs on their players.  Now I have to purchase music for a second time so I can have it on my phone.  Or spend extra money on a new shuffle or ipod and carry another thing around.

If you plan on...

I love using iTunes! It's so easy to download songs and get started. I like the fact that I can upload songs off cds I already have without any problems. I would like to see the prices of each song go down a little, because sometimes I find myself having downloaded more songs than I thought/expected. The funtions are incredibly easy to use, like creating playlists, burning cds, and loading music onto my ipod. It's also nice knowing that I don't have a chance of getting arrested or something because I'm downloading music illegally!!

Disclaimer: This review was based off version 7.6.2.9. Later versions of iTunes may pender some of this review inaccurate.

iTunes is a music program that has been around since the release of the first iPod generation in 2001. However, it wasn't until version 4.1 where Windows became a supported operating system, allowing Windows users to also own iPods.

While iTunes was mostly aimed towards syncing music, videos, and games to your iPod, it can also be used as a media jukebox for your computer. iTunes scrobbles your computer for audio files, videos, and songs that you can play in iTunes. iTunes supports...

I have been using iTunes for several years now and absolutely enjoy it. Although I am an iPod owner, I started using the service before I actually owned an iPod. It revolutionized the music listeners ability to buy the songs they want instead of buying a whole CD and only listening to a couple of the songs on it. iTunes also allows users to import their own music, organize playlists, edit tracks (if a song is too long or you want to cut out the long intro or the hidden track tacked on at the end of your song then you can do so by changing the start and end times to meet your preference). Users...

My daughter called on Christmas day since she and her nephews that she nannies had received MP3 players for Christmas.  They had also received iTunes Gift cards which is nice to have to download songs they like.

The problem my daughter was experiencing was in order to use the gift card they had to install iTunes.

iTunes is produced by Apple and like Microsoft seems to belive they are the only format on th planet.

The default format that the songs wants to download into is M4P a proprietary format that only works in iTunes or on an iPod.

So that she did not have to purchase an expensive format converter,...

iTunes is like an internet Jukebox. You can play music, videos or podcasts. You can buy a movie, a song or an entire album. It has hundreds of streaming 'radio' stations in dozens of different genres. You can burn cd's or MP3 discs as well as DVD's with thousands of songs on it that you can use in your DVD player or even some car stereos

You can categorize you music into genre's, artists, albums or any combination. You can put most videos off of the internet into iTunes and they will be available for playing or loading onto your iPod. There are thousands of podcasts for download as well as videopodcasts....
