Humphrey's Teething Pellets

5

I am a huge fan of the Humphrey's Very Cherry Teething Pellets. If I can find a natural version of a product, I will always buy it over the other brand even if it doesn't work as well. That especially applies to things I use with my children. I had used a gel containing a numbing agent a couple of times with my oldest son, and we never had any problems with it. However, when my second son was a small baby, there were multiple stories on the news about children dying from the product. Moms were using it as directed, but the babies had died from an overdose because there was no way to know how much to give an individual child based on the box instructions. This terrified me, so I started looking for natural alternatives. A woman at a local health food store recommended Humphrey's Teething Pellets. All you have to do is take a couple of the pellets and dissolve them in a little bit of water. Then, just rub it on the babies gums. It helps with the pain, and it also helps with the inflammation. I use a spoon to dissolve them because you can use less water that way.

Very helpful through the teething process.

I relied solely on these homeopathic tablets through both children for the entire teething process. Mine went through a really tough time, and I had many a sleepless night from both of them because of it. I always went to what I thought was the default teething pain remedy, the teething gels that you buy. Well they never quite did the trick. I always found it awkward trying to rub the solution on their gums and get it in the correct spot before it was salivated away! The process only became more difficult the more teeth that they had, and my finger was caught in the crossfire more than once. I spotted these in the grocery store by chance one day and really liked the idea of them not only being homeopathic, but dissolving beforehand so they are sure to get to the problem areas in the mouth. Well within a few minutes after first administering them, I could tell a huge difference in baby, and a difference in potency between these pellets and other teething gels. There were no more sleepless nights from teething pain.

Worked Well for Teething

4

Either these work very well, or our baby handled teething very well, I'm not sure. These are the only thing we used for all of our baby's teething. I was opposed to using any kind of aspirin or ibuprofen if we could avoid it. It took a little experimentation to figure out the best way to apply this, as it makes a watery liquid and the instructions are very vague. They just say to dissolve 1-2 pellets in a teaspoon of water and then apply. Okay, but how do you apply that to a baby's gums? It didn't seem like it could stay on there long enough to be effective. Sometimes I dipped my finger in the liquid and dribbled it on her gums. Then I dipped a toothbrush in it, but that was a little big and bulky for her mouth. Then I figured out to use a q-tip and soak it and press that on her gums. You have to work quickly, but this seemed to be the best method. She always seemed to get relief from it, and there was a noticeable difference in her crying and discomfort level before we used it and after. I never felt the need to try anything else because this seemed to sooth her just fine.

Takes the Cranky out of the Kid

5

A friend of ours, a long time ago, before I had kids, recommended that we get these when we had kids. When my son started screaming and acting crazy by shoving everything in his face and chomping on my fingers I knew it was time. I went to the drug store and picked them up. I don't dissolve them in water, he's got enough saliva in his mouth to dissolve them himself. after i put them in his mouth, i give him his pacifier. Within a few minutes the screaming stops...thank god. He then goes to sleep andwake up a happier baby :) this in return makes me happy

Worthless

I purchased the Humphrey's Teething Pellets once when my pharmacy was out of the Hyland's Teething Tabs. I will say I was very disappointed when comparing the two. I had always used Hyland's (although now I believe they have been recalled) and assummed that the Humprhey's would get the job done as well. Number one, the pellets don't just dissolve in the baby's mouth like Hyland's, you must first dissolve them in water yourself. They do not dissolve easily and you must mush them around for quite awhile before they are broken down enough to put on the baby's gums. Once there, they did not seem to provide any relief. My daughter also didn't seem to like the taste as she tried to spit it all out. She did not do that with the Hyland's. I would say skip these completely and either give Hyland's if they are back on the market or just an oral gel, as the Humphrey's are just way too much work for not seeing any results.

works only if you have time to dissolve these pellets

I tried many different teething products to soothe my fussy 6 month old teether. These did relief the pain of my child better than the baby orajel. The problem, they don't dissolve in the mouth. You have to dissolve it in water and then try to get the child to take the water/med. solution. It takes too much time to try and dissolve it while holding a fussy cranky baby. Plus it was difficult to get my child to take it. I resorted to putting the dissolved medicine water into a medicine dropper and then into my childs mouth. It did relief his pain for awhile though, but I used 3 pellets at a time because I didn't want to fight him more then I needed to to give him the medicine. In with the pellets I also received a couple samples of the humphrey's dissolving strips. Those I like better because you can just place it in the childs mouth and it dissolves completely. Unlike the pellets which will not dissolve in your childs mouth and have to be placed in water.

Humphreys Teething Tablets don't measure up to the competition.

I like to use natural remedies, especially for my kids. I'd rather give them something natural that will help their body heal itself, instead of giving them chemicals and medications to numb their bodies. This is why I love homeopathic remedies, and always have some on hand.  I've used Hylands Teething Tablets for several years now, and love them. They work really well, and can calm a screaming, cranky, teething child in mere minutes. One time I was in the drugstore and saw the Humphrey's brand of teething tablets on sale. I picked it up, hoping it could be a less expensive substitute. But it was not to be. The main problem? Humphrey's teething tablets come in a hard, round pellet that doesn't dissolve easily in the mouth. In fact, the directions ask you to dissolve 2-3 tablets in a spoonful of water. Well, who has the time or ability to do that when you're holding a cranky child? Or when you're out and about? And my kids don't like drinking a spoonful of water. I (and my kids) much prefer the soft tablets that Hylands makes that dissolve easily in the mouth.
