as of April 30, 2010, you can't get Target Visa

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

If you do not already have a Target Visa Card in your pocket; you can’t get one.

As of April 30th 2010, Target has stopped taking applications and stopped issuing Target Visa Cards.

If you already have one you can keep using it.  If you pay off your balance every month on this card it will continue to offer some good deals.  However, as many have found over the last year, without warning APR has increased to a stunning rate over 24 percent (in some cases people are being charged over 34 percent !!!!)..

Credit limits have also been frozen or lowered—often to within $100 of what your current balance is.

On a corporate level, Target did not feel they were getting&n...

If you want to get a Visa card, go someplace other than Target

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Target Visa is the worst credit card company I have ever dealt with.  I have heard that credit card company's will work with someone who is trying to get out of debt, well not Target.  After speaking with a credit counselor, I was told that if I offered to "settle" my debt, most credit company's would give a certain amount that would have to be paid.  Target Visa told me we could not settle the account because my account was not past due.  As long as the account is current they will not work with you at all.  I suggested since my account was in good standing, they lower my interest rate (also advised by the credit counselor).  Again, I was told their company did not do that.  As a last attempt to help my situation I asked if we could at least change my due date to a more convenient time of the month.  Yet again, I was told no, they don't do that.  I worked extra hard to get the card paid off and cut it up!  I will never give them my business again.

STAY AWAY FROM TARGET CARD!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Do not get the Target credit card. Customer Service is awful and the big thing is that if you make a payment that they consider "large" (in our case $1,000) they will HOLD YOUR MONEY for over two weeks and not allow you access to it as credit. We never had a returned payment or any other problem with them. No other credit card I have ever had does this. Other credit cards give you available credit once they have the money from the bank. Target does not. After they have the money from your bank they still hold it for 2 weeks and you will not get the available credit even though they have your money.

The Target Visa credit card has good rewards, but high interest.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

The** Target Visa credit card** works well for people who shop at Target often. The accumulation of ten percent off rewards is a nice bonus, it allows people to save up for big purchases, and get the extra discount with the ten percent rewards. Plus, you use the ten percent off for the big purchases, save the money and then send yourself on your way to earning your next ten percent off reward, It's a nice little circle of savings. The interest rate is a tad higher than other cards out there, but it's manageable. My advice is do not take out a cash advance against the card unless you are prepared to pay it off completely, because it will take quite a bit of time otherwise.

I like that I get 10% off shopping with my Target Visa

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

I inherited my Target Visa because my husband had it when I married him.  When you spend a certain amount you get these 10% off shopping discounts, which is nice.  Target also donates a portion of your purchase to the school of your choice.  It's a nice gesture, but in this economy I'm looking for savings and cash back.  I wish it was more than 10%, while it makes a difference; it barely covers tax these days.  Another good feature is that it has an expiration date that is really far out.  That way I don't have to worry about getting a new card so often.  They used to give you the option if you wanted a red card or a silver card, but not anymore.  You are stuck with the red card whether you like it or not.  I would recommend the card to others, if nothing else, for the savings, but I don't love the card.  Credit cards are a necessary evil - you can't build up credit without them, but you could really rack up a lot of debt.

Target credit card is pointless

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

The Target card offers 10% off at Target for every $100 you spend on the card. This is nothing. In addition to that, you get a 20% interest rate and an extremely low cash advance limit. I was late in making a payment and they e-mailed me and called me repeatedly at numerous phone numbers. They even had the audacity to ask me about specific transactions and why I would have bought the item if I didn't have the money to pay for it. You have to go through all this for a card with no rewards. I have a Gap card with a limit of $200 that I have gotten more rewards from after spending $100 over the course of a year.

I used to love Target, but I hate horrible English speakers!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I used to love Target visa, but just like other companies that let people in far away lands with dubious English skills take on their most important customer relations and communications duties- THEY NOW SUCK!   You cannot untangle the most simple misunderstanding because the “customer service reps” apparently don’t understand pretty simple English and then get an attitude when you can’t understand their rapid and thickly accented English while they use credit card company terminology that is obscure to anyone but themselves. One supervisor (Pam emp # 3G1102 if anyone from Target cares) actually said to me, “You are not TRYING t...

go discover

Overall

I am sure I'm not the Lone Ranger in the fact I would love to go to a store without being hassled about a credit card.  I admit, I have got credit cards on the spur of the moment with a promise of taking a percentage off my total purchase. A few years ago I made this mistake in Target.  I was told I would receive 20% off my bill if I filled out a quick Target Visa application.  No yearly fee, no finance charges when I paid the bill in full...sounded like a good deal at the time.  However, the rules have recently changed.  I recently made an online purchase and put in on the Target card.  Immediately I transferred from my checking to pay the charged amount.  When my statement came, even though I had a zero balance, I was charged finance charges on the purchase total.   Time to cancel on Target!

target visa no good

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

don't know why I got Target's credit card at a first place- no cash back, no other rewards except occasional 10% discount for 1 day shopping at Target- even with discount prices at Target still higher then at Walmart. Target credit cards have actually affected people's credit ratings even when they are not at fault as Target credit card payments do not always reflect in your account on time. Once when I submitted on-line payment with Taget it processed payment twice taking extra $300 from my bank account. After month and a half dealing with Target's customer service about this duplicate transaciton I just gave up. And Recently Target reduced my credit limit, when I called customer service I'...

Punishes Loyal Customers

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

We've had this Visa for 9 years. We always carry a balance so they make a good profit on us, which is fine for having the ability to utilize the credit. We NEVER have been late or missed a payment.

Up until June of 2011 we had no problems with this card. Now they are holding your payments hostage.

It's never taken more than 3 days to post, process and replenish available credit line.

Now they have changed that and from the looks of it, we are not the only customers getting treated as such.

We are paying it off and Target will get ZERO revenue from us. We will use it once every month for $20 then pay it off same day.

We had our debit card comprimised so we paid a fairly good size payment...

This company ripped me off big time- poor customer service!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I have never been treated like such garbage by a creditor! I had a Target Visa for eight years and in the end they screwed me royally and messed my credit up.  I had chose this card and used it primarily because of the money they donate to the school of your choice- which is an awesome feature. I selected the high school where my brother is a teacher and this made me actually feel good about using the Target Red Card Visa.

I had racked up large balances and paid them off fully many many times over the years. Unfortunately for me, the credit company could care less. When I had carried no balance for about 6 months I was not checking my statement. When an automatic charge from an interne...

Christmas shopping at Target one year ended me with a $300 total. The cashier informed me that I could save LOTS of money by applying for their Target card. Beings how I didnt already own a credit card I thought I would jump on this opertunity to apply and save money. Boy was that a bad idea. It was going okay till I fell short on cash because I just had a baby. I missed a month on my Target card and they DOUBLED my APR. Thats right Doubled! There was no wiggle room at all! The next month when I went back to work I was getting harrasing calls at work from Target National Bank harrassing me that I missed a month of payment. Not to mention endless calls on my cell phone. High Rates, Poor customer service

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Have had this card since 2006, originally had a Target Store card, they offered this to me with a large credit line so I said "why not" and had a 11.9 % rate. They have steadily jacked my rates up to 24.9% even though I have good credit (over 730) and never been late. The last straw was when they took an online payment, I made it 15 dollars over the minimum, and over 10 days later as of today, STILL hasn't posted through as available credit even though it's been totally cleared from my bank account.

When i talk to any service rep or manager, all I get is very vague responses - "nobody here can tell you when it will totally post through". "we have had to make changes due to challenging ec...

Beware Target uses a gimmick on your credit available

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

Target has recently begun doing something that I have never seen before and I have worked in the credit industry for 25 years. Here is how it works: Normally after you make a payment and your account is current, the payment was not late and you are not over your credit line, your "credit available" is restored the same day (or next day) after you have paid. Not so with Target, they are now taking up to two weeks to update your credit available. This is not an issue for most people but lets look at an example.

Let's say you owe $1000 and your credit line is $1500. You pay your balance in full and anticipate purchasing something in the next week that costs $1200 (still under your credit line).  You make your payment online with a debit card and it clears your bank the day after your payment. One week later you try and make the purchase in store and are denied for "innsufficient credit available". Would you not be a little upset and embarrassed? This is exactly what Target is doing.

Customer Service Horrible

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Over the last year or so I have really had some major complaints with my Target Visa.  I have been a card holder for over 8 years and last year they dropped my credit limit from $9000 to $500 without any warning.  When I called and asked why they said it was because I made a late payment, however the payment cleared my bank before the due date.  This has been a constant problem last month my payment took 21 days to clear even though the payment was processed though my bank immediately.  Their customer service just gives you the run around and are very rude.  I have excellent credit and have been a card holder for a long time but after calling again tonight and having more customer service issues I will be paying off my balance and shredding the card.  I do not recommend this card to anyone, the incentives aren't worth the hassle.
