Sony SA-WM500 Subwoofer Speaker: This is a great home subwoofer. I used it mainly for music listening and I'm somewhat of an audiophile. It has very solid, smooth, and deep bass response. This improved the performance of the system, used with the Sony floor-standing, dual 8" woofer 3-way,bass reflex speakers, which already have really good bass, on their own. A subwoofer with 12 or 15 in speaker, such as the SA-WM500 makes a big difference in deep bass response. Compare to something like JBL then look at prices, and decide. This may be somewhat not completely objective, but I preferred Sony over other brands of comparable price-range. Unless you have small or bookshelf main speakers, and can afford it, I'd go with this subwoofer over the Sony 8" version. My opinion is that Sony speakers have about the best overall performance and quality-to-price ratio for medium-price range hi-fi speakers.
