What inspired me to get a cat drinking fountain was the fact that my cat would jump up onto the countertop and follow me into the bathroom only to "meow" at the faucet.   I purchased this fountain online at PetCo and it is one of the best pet products I have ever purchased!  2 of my cats love to play in water- whether they're begging you to turn on the kitchen faucet so they can roll around in it, or taking a shower with you between the shower curtains.  Not only does this keep their water clean, it also provides constant entertainment for them. Petmate pet fountain - it really IS a great idea... in theory. We really want to believe in this product, but we are already looking into the third model replacement at this time. — First major con: Too bad the product's made of overpriced cheap plastic. Parts warp shape by third and fourth dishwashing, Second major con: It is also incredibly high-maintenance! The Petmate Fresh Flow Fountain rocks!  Keeps the water aerated so the cats drink more water.  This is especially advantageous for keeping male cats from getting the dreaded urinary tract problems that they can be prone to as they age. — The fountain does require routine cleaning (how often depends on how many cats are drinking out of it), but it is easy to clean - takes about 10 to 15 minutes including taking the water pump apart to clean.  One filter lasts a month with just one cat -  if you have more than one cat, you will have to change the filter more… read full review »

Cats weren't sure about this new contraption that I brought home at first. I wanted to know that the water they were drinking was fresh, and wanted to make sure that they were drinking enough. At first they drank from it while I was trying to set  it up, but once I plugged it in they really seemed alittle intimidated by it. I moved there old water feeder bowl next to it so they could slowly begin adjusting to there knew water spot and that it was okay to drink from it. I heard a vet talk about the benefits of pet water fountains on a radio show and I knew my cat had to have one.  Our cat was jumping up on the counter every time we turned to faucet on to get a glass of water and had her own cup on the counter...she was also drinking from the toliet.  I looked at the pet stores and the fountains were expensive (around $40).  But I found an off color one at Big Lots for $15.  My cat loves it!!  She drinks from it constantly and no longer annoys us at the kitchen sink.  The water supply lasts about 2 days for her...so I actually… read full review »

First, my cats truly love this thing.   I have probably had to return 3, maybe even 4, though, due to the pump dying.  Also, tons of crevices, nooks and crannies in there, so I clean once a week armed with toothpicks and q tips after letting the whole thing soak.  I even pull off the grating to get out the kitty hair that gets sucked into the pump.  I keep their food in a separate area so I don't get chunks in it.   My latest pump just died.  Enough is enough, might try the competitor brand, Drinkwell.    Cats do adore it and I feel… read full review »

I purchased this fountain for my cat about two years ago.  My husband had gotten into the habit of putting ice cubes in my cat's regular water bowl and got him spoiled very quickly.  Plus my cat has suffered in the past from UTIs and also has diabetes, so it's important to keep him hydrated.  I purchased this fountain, and my cat adores it.  Sometimes he even sits and watches the flow...I think he's meditating!  I clean his bowl about once a week, and it's very easy to clean.  I change the filter every 2-3 months, and I still have the same fountain I purchased… read full review »

My cats liked the movement of the water.  My only complaint is that the water tank developed green algae in it, so I had to stop using it.  I called the company, and they said to add a couple drops of bleach to the water (I think...don't do it though because I'm not positive).  Whatever it was they told me to do I rejected, because I give my cats bottled water and didn't want to introduce any chemicals to their water.  I ended up just removing the water talk and filling the bowl more… read full review »

My cats love this. I bought it because my breed of cats (Himalayan) are prone to kidney disease and need to drink plenty of water to prevent this.
