Growing up, my younger sister was always getting those annoying little canker sores in her mouth. She would always use this Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine to get rid of them quickly. Now, whenever I accidentally bite the inside of my mouth, I pull out this gel and use it for myself. It works great. The canker sores always seem to go away quicker and less painfully than when I just wait for them to go away on their own. The taste isn't great, which is why I gave it a nine, however. But, this is no reason why you should not buy this product. The taste can be easily overlooked when you are trying to get rid of a nasty, painful canker sore in your mouth. I always have this product on hand, because I never know when I'll get another canker. I plan to use this with my children too, because as another poster mentioned, when/if they get braces, this will be a great relief if they get sores from them. Great product!

My eldest son recently had a spacer fitted to his mouth which is similar to a brace. During the first few weeks whilst he was still getting used to it he started getting the occasional mouth sore where the spacer would rub. Whilst the orthodonist sorted his spacer out I purchased Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine from Walmart. The relief for him was instant. The active ingredients are Benzalkonium Chloride 0.02%, Benzocaine 20% and Zinc Chloride 0.1% and it is good for mouth sores, canker sores, cold sores and other minor irritations. It's quite a thick gel which lingers on the sore thereby continuing to provide relief and comfort. It makes the surface of your tongue or lip go numb for a period of time. It's quite a strong minty flavor, not that disimilar from toothpaste. Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine has been around for decades and for good reason. It will always be the first brand of oral pain reliever I reach for.

Maybe a seed or a bit of grit works its way under the plate during a meal. With repeated chewing a sore gum is all but inevitable. If you've had them you know what I'm talking about. **What is it?** **Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine Gel** is an oral analgesic & antiseptic in gel form. It's very similar to the Orajel many of us have used for the occasional toothache, but in a thicker gel base and with added active ingredients that make it well suited for use on my gums. **Active Ingredients** Benzocaine (20%) is the pain reliever and it works almost instantaneously to kill the pain. Benzalkonium Chloride (.02%) adds an oral antiseptic and Zinc Chloride (.1%) is the oral astringent. When I need it, and fortunately it's not all that often, I squeeze a small dab on my finger (washed of course!), and rub it on the spot with the irritation. Usually I find that I have relief in a matter of seconds. I can replace the denture and return to my meal knowing that I won't be bothered by more discomfit. When out in a restaurant the whole process takes less than a very brief trip to the men's room. Very convenient and very discreet. The directions suggest that Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine Gel can be applied up to 4 times daily as needed. If you wear any kind of dental appliance such as dentures, braces or a night-time retainer, Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine Gel can really come in handy. I highly recommend it.
