I almost didnt' review this coffee maker, cause I sit on the fence with it.  Its a great coffee maker but the decanter is kinda under sized for me and my girlfriend or we only get 1 cup of coffee each in the morning, then end up having to dicuss who is making the next pot.  My other problem was that I knock'd the decanter off the counter one day while doing something in then kitchen and it took some doing to find another one, didn't offer it when i call'd the company.

Then the options I like on this machine is that the steam is ajustable, You can start off low and slow instead of with the one we replaced this one with, it was either on or off and you ended up spraying warm milk everywhere.  Lets see, its brew the 3 cups it holds in a really short amount of time.

So i'm not sure yet which side of the fence i'm on with the item, I do enjoy it, and it fits perectly in our little kitchen, plus if it wasn't for my clomsyness in breaking the decanter then I'm sure I would be for it completly, and I can't really hold Mr. Coffee acountable for my actions.

If you are wanting a machine that makes lattes and cappuccinos "just like" at your favorite coffee shop, well, do *not* buy this one.

If all you want to do is make an occasional espresso, it *is* perfectly adequate and deserves a rating of 4 stars.

Yes, the cord (if you have bought it new) is coiled up underneath the unit, but, yes, it *is* (still) too short.

Missing? As noted, a stainless steel frothing container. Also, no tamper (to press espresso into the basket) is included.

Steam wand is too short. Period. It makes steaming the milk efficiently difficult.

Steam is steam. What matters is capacity. This machine lacks the capacity to steam milk quickly enough to make adequate amount of froth or foam ... before scalding milk.

Simply put, instead of the 20 seconds (or less) you'd need with a professional machine to generate sufficient froth/foam it takes a minute or longer. Not good.

If you *only* want espresso and/or (possibly) *steamed* milk, than I would look at this as a solid "3.5" star machine, based on MSRP and deficiencies noted above.

Buy it used? 4.5-to-5.0.

Otherwise ... "just like ..." the coffee shop lattes/cappuccinos will require some more money.

Reality: you get what you pay for. Honestly, after using the unit for a while (I didn't pay for it, my girlfriend did), I suspect more and more that the glowing reviews are from people shilling for Mr. Coffee.

Just saying.

But, as always YMMV [your mileage may vary].

fab little machine!

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

This was a great addition to my regular coffee maker! Although the one I use also has an espresso function it's not nearly the same quality as this, and i realized that after testing it out at a friend's house! Great machine, coffee is much stronger, and it's a lot better when trying to put espresso into baked goods, the flavor is much richer! I would definitely buy this is you're on the edge on whether to buy it or not! You will not be disappointed!

Brew Performance
fantastic!! Warning though I did feel like it was much stronger than my older espresso machine which comes dual with a coffee maker!

Ease of Cleaning
perfect!

Ease of Use
I have teenagers who use and clean this regularly without a problem!

Not Bad, in a pinch.

By

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

I bought one of these not long ago as sort of a gift for myself. I am addicted to any form of coffee and I have intense cravings for lattes. I bought this machine based mostly on the price and that cravings thing....lol. It is not a bad machine, for the money. I like the fact that I can steam my milk even if it takes a little extra water to do it. It wasn't to hard to take apart and clean. And with the coffee pressed in precisely, it doesn't make a half bad cup of joe. It is worth the buy, but I caution you to take care of the pot. It does break easily.

Love this. My friends all want one now. Great alternative to the expensive espresso makers. Seems super durable for the cheap price. If something happened to the one i have i would buy a new one right away. Steams milk great. Gets it really foamy.

Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker Doesn't Live Up

By

from Alexandria, IN

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

If you want a good cup of cappuccino, stay away from the **Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker. **

**The screw-on top is very difficult to remove. You have to remove it to add more water to steam the milk after you steam the coffee. If you manage to remove the top, you run a risk of being burnt by the steam. The side steam arm only works some of the time and clogs easily. Less than half of the attempts to properly steam the milk work. The arm simply does not provide an adequite amount of steam. In additon, you have to stand there for two to three minutes holding up the cup of milk you try to steam. The cup must be cold and clean to work, so you dirty an extra cup in the process. **

**The maker does make good espresso. **

**It is not easy to clean.**

LOVE IT!!!

By

from Dallas, PA

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

I will admitt that i have a big coffee addiction,  the stronger it is the happier I am!  There is nothing like the taste of expresso coffee first thing in the moring... but who wants to run out to the store to go buy it?  There is nothing like the smell of expresso coffee flowing through your house.  I could not live without my Mr. Coffee Expresso maker,  not only does it make some really good expresso,  but is great for steaming the milk for you capacino.  It it so easy to clean,  unlike a lot of the other machines that you can buy.  It also looks cool sitting on my counter top,  but if I,  for what ever reason at all,  what to put it away,  its small and easy to store!  Plus,  since its an expression machine,  there are no filters to buy,  nothing added on to put together.  Over all, I love this coffee maker and I reccomend it to anyone who is looking to save money by buying your own expresso maker.

Marry me Mr. coffee !

By

from Dickinson, ND

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

I received my Mr. coffee espresso machine as a gift for my birthday and it was love at first steam! This machine is compact and cute and works amazing! I have since purchased one for my mother who is also pleased with her little espresso machine. i think it is affordable compared o other brands. My only complaints are that the metal inside gets very hot after use (which is to be expected) and you wouldn't notice this unless you had to make more then one espresso and clean the machine while hot and the outside is hard to keep clean because it is black in color and gets splattered while frothing The process is fast and easy to learn. The only thing better then having this machine would be having someone to use it for you! I have been recommending this product to my friends and family.

Good machine, if you can't afford a really nice one.

By

from Normal, IL

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

This is a decent machine for making espresso drinks. It takes a long time to pull, but it has not let me down in the three months I have been using it everyday. Works well with all fine espresso. Be careful, though, it gets very hot! Make sure to read all of the instructions.

Mr. Coffee Espresso maker is just pretty good.

By

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

The Mr. Coffee Espresso maker makes fine espresso, but the steamer is nearly impossible to use. It's very short and immovable so unless you have a short, silver steaming cup for milk, it's difficult to find a glass that is just the right size. I also find it difficult to get the milk steamed properly. No matter how hard I try, it never fully steams and ends up tasting just luke warm. Again, I think you have to have the special metal cup in order for it to really work. This machine was well priced and I used a store coupon also which made it very affordable. Unlike many other espresso machines on the market, this one is quite petite and fits nicely on my counter without being intrusive. I keep a silver canister of espresso beans next to it and it looks quite nice.

Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker doesn't quite do it

By

from Ashland, KY

Comments about Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Machine ECM91:

The Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker comes in black and has a small carafe with a handle for easy pouring. The built in filter also has a long handle for easy opening and emptying. On the side of the Espresso/Cappuccino Maker there is a little steamer arm. To make espresso or cappuccino you put your water in the back and tighten the cap snuggly. After you get the desired amount of coffee in the carafe, you switch the machine over to steam and put the arm down in the milk or cream and steam it to the appropriate temperature and then mix your coffee drink.

I did not like this machine. It was hard to clean, and I thought that the steam arm was not long enough to accomodate the user. Also, you never really know how much water you need for the steam and this ends up being a problem if you run out before your done heating your cream or milk.

I give this 2 out of 5 stars and I would not recommend this to my friends. This one is a classic case of "spring the extra money and get a good one".
