Even a Cat Would Love This Microsoft Wireless Laptop Mouse!

5

The Microsoft Wireless Laptop Mouse takes the cake(err, cheese)! This mouse is an outstanding product in terms of performance, reliability, cost, and value. The Microsoft BX- Mouse is small enough to travel with your laptop, but large enough to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. It is very accurate and responsive when in use, and even has a battery saving feature that puts the mouse in sleep mode when not used after a few minutes. The mouse comes in many varying colors, not just pink. I chose chocolate brown because apparently at the moment , I was hungry for tasty brownies and could not help myself. The color is nice and but I do get hunger pangs when using it on occasion, if you catch my drift. The best overall feature is the wireless aspect of this Microsoft mouse. The mouse takes only one AAA battery and works great. You only need to replace the battery a few times a year, if you can believe it. The dongle even stores away nicely on the underbelly of the mouse and acts as a power off switch for convenience and ergonomics. The only miniscule negative this mouse has is that the dongle that attaches to the computer, is a tad bit long compared to others. This is probably the only circusmstance where having a long dongle is a major drawback. This Microsoft Mouse is a works well and is a steal at its low price. You can even name it Mickey if you like.

Practical & Easy To USE

This is a nice little notebook mouse that has a nice design and feels great in the palm of your hand. It's very ergonomic and your fingers fit nice a comfortably that allows you to click away for hours at a time without feeling the effects of fatigue. The USB drive isn't as compact as some of the newer update models, but it's not that intrusive, only more of a cosmetic issue. It also would be nice if Microsoft came out with a update that's just as affordable that uses a rechargeable battery instead of the one AA. When the battery gets low, it does tend to work a bit slow, and also there's no indicator allowing you to know if the battery is low or not, at least not from what we can tell, so if you take it on the road for business you might want to carry a spare just in case. We had an issue where it totally went out, but you also always have your laptop pad as backup. It travels very nicely, Microsoft did hit a home run allowing you to pop the USB drive in the back of the mouse so they travel together and you don't have to fish around for it, that's a really nice touch to a pretty good design compared to other notebook mouses on the market.

The Microsoft mouse is decent but could be better.

I got this mouse a few years ago and wasn't initially disappointed.  It is small and very easy to control.  There is no software for it, so it is very simple.  It has the two main buttons of course and also a regular scroll wheel (no side scroll).  It only requires one AA battery, which is definitely a plus.  I couldn't stand the length of the USB wireless receiver-- 2 inches long!  The only way to turn off the mouse is to take the USB receiver out and put it into the bottom of the mouse, which makes it sit lop-sided on your desk.  It could definitely use an off switch.  It wouldn't work farther than 3 feet away and it had to be pointed directly at the receiver to work.  I also had this problem where the cursor would waver to the left when the mouse itself was not moving at all. This happened quite frequently.  The battery life was about 2 months on average.  I do use it frequently, but always put the receiver into the mouse when I'm not using it.  The mouse is good for its simplicity, but not great for it's features.  The price is ok, but could be better for its lack of features.

microsoft 3000 wireless mouse is junk

I would not reccomend this wireless mouse to anybody looking for one, unless they really do not care and just want the cheapest thing falling off the shelf. in my experience, these things are the most aweful excuse for a wireless mouse...ever. i mean, i understand that they are not meant for gaming, and that they are not supposed to be the best mouse ever, but if you dont have a usb port on the side of your computer that you keep your hand with the mouse, it is going to disconnect all the time.  even using this thing with a mouse pad doesnt work very well, it jumps around a lot, and when it's not busy disconnecting itself from the awkwardly large usb adapter, it can be difficult at times to actually click on the part of the screen that you want. from my experience, this is possibly the worst mouse i have ever seen and is probably the worst first party wireless mouse on the market.   if you are even remotely considering getting one of these, just do yourself a favor and pick up a logitech wireless mouse, they work so much better.

I thought that all mice were the same but they're not.

I'm always on the go so reducing the number of cords coming from my laptop is very important to me. I hate using the touchpad on my laptop though so I must have some sort of mouse. All I need for this mouse is the one AA battery that was actually included in the packaging. It slides right inside the contoured mouse body. The mouse has soft rubber grips along the side that are contoured so the mouse fits in the hand comfortably. The roller ball on top is clear rubber and has small grooves cut into it for traction. Set up could not have been easier. I thought there would be a user guide or that some sort of software and configuration would be required but all I needed to do was plug the receiver into my USB port and I was good to go. My laptop recognized the mouse automatically and it worked immediately. It is very sensitive. Moving it just slightly caused the cursor to move a lot so it took a few days for me to get completely acclimated but now I love it. The responsiveness is good compared to old, corded mice. I had intended to use it only when on the go but now I use it exclusively. The only thing I dislike is that in order to turn the mouse off you have to remove the receiver from the port and insert it into the hole on the underside of the mouse. This turns off power to the mouse so the battery does not run down and provides a storage place for the receiver which might otherwise get lost or become damaged. I've been using this mouse for about two years and love it. The battery life is long, the responsiveness is great, as is the range. Performance Responds to the slightest movement. Takes some getting used to but once you get used to the speed it saves lots of time. Durability I've dropped it several times and it hasn't broken yet. The battery cover pops off, but pops right back on. Comfort Comfortable in the hand.

Horrible, junk waste of money

I did not care for this product. It broke down in less than two months. It was bulky and loses conection. Also, it uses up battery power too fast. For the price, you can get a better wireless mouse. Consider one that  is rechargeable unless you're good at shutting things off or you have an abundance of batteries lying around. DONT BUY IT.

I love this mouse as much, if not more than "Mickey Mouse"!

You presented a great review.  I have a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Mouse 4000.  I agree with all of your highlighted points.  I would like to add that on the 4000 mouse, there is a button on the side that will magnify anything you would like to see closer.  The magnifier is also simple to use.  The button on the top left side of the sleek, contoured mouse is basically the on-off button.  The magnified area will move as you move your mouse over the text or picture.  This is my 3rd wireless mouse and the other 2 don't come close to the quality of the Microsoft Wireless 4000!

I like my microsoft wireless mouse

I needed a wireless mouse for my laptop and was fed up with logitech. I gave this one a try and love it. It is easy to install, has a very long battery life and the button on the bottom makes changing the battery a snap. I love it so much I bought 2 more, 1 for my desktop and one for my son's computer. He has been eyeing my mouse since i got it. He used my laptop and love the mouse. They work great and come in a lot of different colors. Mine is chocolate brown (was on sale in that color) and he has a very nice icy blue one. They are the perfect size and feel good after hours of use. No hand pain. It moves smooth over the mousepad and no wires that get cought or tangled up. I Love that you can store the usb receiver in the bottom of the mouse. Great feature. Snaps right on and come back off just as easy. Now i can keep track of the usb receiver while schlepping my laptop around. The scroll button works great.

Great wireless mouse

When I bought my netbook from my friend He threw in one of these for free.  I use this mouse primarily when I'm playing video games or while I'm online. Pros: The Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 3000 is a fine mouse by any standards. The battery lasts for weeks without turning it off and, according to Microsoft.com, can last 6+ monthes under constant usage new. This mouse features 3 mouse buttons and a mouse scrolling wheel. The battery is concealed under a  compartment on the top of the mouse. It is an EXTREMELY accurate mouse and great for gaming. The USB reciever fits in the bottom of the mouse and doesn't fall out. When you put in the USB reciever it also effectively turns off the mouse. The distance that the mouse can be away from the reciever and still be able to be used depends on a few factors but usually it can work about 3 and a half feet away. Cons: This mouse starts to have a problem, like with many optical mouses, where it will start to slightly move inacurately after enough usage. There are times when this mouse will stop working correctly after long times of usage.. but this is remedied by turning off the mouse by hitting the switch where the USB reciever goes into the mouse and waiting for the lazer to turn off fully. To turn off the mouse you have to put the USB reciever in.. which can become a pain when you have to keep unplugging it from a desktop computer when it's not in use, and plug it back in when you need to use it. Nice wireless mouse for desktop and or laptop

3

I got this mouse with my laptop as a graduation gift. I must say this little mouse is holding out good for the numerous times I've dropped it or it fell off my desk. I was rather impressed at how it was great connection with my laptop when plugged in via USB port. I've only had one issue with it. It once just suddenly stopped working, I'd change the battery, shake it, get mad at it, but it just would not turn on or even show any life of working. So I simply left it alone for about a month. Well, a few days I ago I decided to give it another chance before trashing it. To my surprise it suddenly started working again. It is a little bigger than the normal optical mouse, but it provides great comfort to the hand and it comes with a scroll wheel like most mouses do now. It has a great battery life; only using one double A battery. It's seems to be rather durable through all the trauma I've put the poor thing through. I recommend this product to anyone searching for a mouse to use for their laptop and or desktop without the hassle of wires getting tangled.
