I am an everyday computer user and couldn't imagine life without it. I can't even say how many computer mice I have been through with each one being just as disappointing as the last. I really didn't see this accessory as a very important part of my computer setup so I would only spend around $20 or less. No wonder I went through so many. I finally got fed up, did some research, and decided to purchase the Logitech MX Revolution Mouse. It was a bit pricey at around $80 but well worth it in the long run.
About this mouse...
The manufacturer claims that some of the main features of this mouse are as follows:
What I think about it...
I now realize that the mouse is one of the most important parts of a personal computer. I don't know how modern computing would even be without something as simple as a mouse. People upgrade video cards, monitors, hard drives and still use the same mouse they've had for years. I suppose they don't realize how much an upgrade of a good new mouse can be. This mouse uses lasers instead of light and runs at 800dpi, which is more than enough to be precise and flicker free. I really like the scroll wheel that operates in two modes. It has the line-by line scrolling mode that is the same on all mice, and a free-spin mode. The free-spin mode allows the wheel to spin for up to 7 seconds from a single flick of the finger. It scrolls through many pages with ease. If I want more precision then I can just use the wheel slowly to glide across a document or photo. The mouse switches between the two by how hard you flick the scroll wheel. It became very easy to use once I used a few times. Another cool feature is the one touch search button. After highlighting a word, just above the scroll wheel is a button that can be pressed to automatically take the user to yahoo, Google, or other search engines of their choosing. Instead of spending money on batteries, the cordless version comes with a charging dock. Fortunately, based on my own heavy usage, a full charge lasts you about a week without a recharge. There is also a handy led light bar that tells you the state of charge to remind you to put it on the charging stand. The mouse is very ergonomic and the design allows you to sort of cup the mouse in a very comfortable way. It is also noticeably heavier then most mice, which gives it, a solid quality feel.
My Final Viewpoint...
The Logitech MX Revolution Mouse is the greatest mouse I have ever owned but is also the most expensive. I guess you really do get what you pay for. I love that there is one less wire to deal with. I recommend this mouse to those that use their computer often. For the occasional computer user, you can probably get away with a less expensive one. I am giving the Revolution Mouse a 4 star rating. I took one star away because of the high price.
