Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse

What is it?
The Cordless Optical Mouse by Logitech
is a computer mouse for laptops and PC's.  Instead of having a cord getting in the way or helping to clutter your desk, a cordless mouse doesn't have one.  Also, it doesn't have that little ball inside the mouse that you would have to take out and clean occassionally, it's optical.

There is a device (I'm not exactly sure what it is called) but it plugs into your USB port and has a loooong cord with a small box that the mouse gets signals from.  You plug it into your computer and you are ready to use your mouse.  The mouse itself has a high quality scroll wheel which is fast and the optical is very accurate.

My Viewpoint!
Ok...I go through alot of cordless mouses (mice?).  I think I need to start buying them in bulk, actually.  Since I am a laptop user and I tote my laptop everywhere, I tend to bend or break the USB attachments or continously drop the mouse until it doesn't work anymore.  I received the Cordless Optical Mouse by Logitech as a Christmas gift from my husband.  I was excited since my last one had just broke and I was back to using the dreaded touch pad on my laptop.

When I opened the box, I was confused.  There was a cord!  I have never had a cordless mouse with a cord!  Granted the cord is attached to the homing device (for lack of a better word) and not the actual mouse but I want CORDLESS!  My previous mouses (mice - what in the word do you call them when using it in the plural sense?) never had a cord.  They just had a little plug that stuck out of my USB port and that was it.

So, it was a gift from my darling Husband and since he did such a great job on the rest of my gifts (see my Sony Handycam review), I didn't want to take it back and I wanted a mouse!

Well, it's January 8th, so about 2 weeks after Christmas and the mouse is in my computer bag not being used. :(  It's a pain.  I got that long cord getting in my way everytime I try to move the computer and frankly, it's easier using my touchpad.

So, now I am on the hunt for a durable, CORDLESS optical mouse that can withstand constant movement, children and dropping on hardwood floors.  Any recommendations?

I had a cordless before but I tend to drop them and the poor little things always die, so I just fight the cord on mine and deal with it. I have never seen a cordless without the homing dock myself so I am no help. Ron

The only cordless mice that I have found (that work well) are the ones with the corded, as you said, homing device. I also hate those things that stick out of the USB port - for the most part, I never remember to take it out of my computer and it ends up breaking.
