Quick View: I am not an expert on computer accessories so this review won't be too technical. However, I can tell you that this is the best mouse I have used. It works great and frees me from the cords and the ball on the bottom that slows me down. It also feels great in my hand.

About the Logitech LX7 Cordless Optical Mouse

This silver mouse runs on two AA batteries. It is compatible with both Windows and MAC operating systems but I am not sure if it is supported by Windows Vista. The mouse comes with software but a friend with the same mouse said he didn't install his and the mouse works fine. I installed mine. This works with both desktops and notebooks.

In the box is the mouse, a wireless mini-receiver, a USB extension stand, a CD with Logitech SetPoint software, an installation guide, a USB to PS/2 adapter, and two batteries. You will need nothing whatsoever other than what is in the box.

Once the software is installed, you are ready to roll. The mouse tracks and points exceptionally well and has great rubber grips on the side for easy handling. The device itself is ergonomically designed and doesn't strain my hand, even after hours of use. There are several features to this mouse. There are universal forward and back buttons, side to side scrolling with zoom, a tilt wheel plus zoom, and smart power management. Do I know what any of that is? Heck no. I know I go where I want to go, see what I want to see, and never have a problem with the mouse.

When the batteries are running low, the mouse starts to skip and I know it's time to replace them. The mouse runs a long time on two AA batteries and I don't find myself replacing them often at all.

My Viewpoint

This mouse is excellent on every level. I can point it from almost anywhere around my desk and it will work. I have had mine for several months. My son just bought one for himself and he loves it. It's an efficient, excellent mouse that's easy on the hand. 5 stars.

Logitech has a great reputation for its mice and keyboards. I would like to try a cordless mouse but I can't afford one. ☺
