We recently bought an Antilop chair after shopping around a bit, and just couldn't pass up the great deal it was for a simple, neat design. Other fancier ones had patterns or bad colors, and features we really didn't need. IKEA did have 2 other colors available at the time, but the blue and the red would really have clashed with our decor.
This high chair is very stable, very easy to clean, and comes with a tray that wraps around the sides to catch items that aren't falling off staight ahead. We did get the optional inflatable pillow ($2) to fit our 4-month-old in it so that he wouldn't slouch...
review »The Ikea Antilop High Chair is wonderful and I wish I had found it sooner! Its very simple design is great b/c there are no seams or creases for food to hide in. It also fits nicely up to the table when they get bigger. I've got 2 for my 2 kids and my 3 year old still sits in it at the table. You also cannot beat the price. It is also is easy to drag onto the deck for when we want to bbq and eat outside! I wish it was a bit easier for them to climb into themselves. Our oldest chair is now about 2 years old and does not have any cracks or even signs of wear. I wish it did come in...
review »I adore these high chairs. Bought for my twin boys to use outside on the back deck, as I was tired of lugging our huge wooden high chairs back and forth. After using them, I wish I had just bought these chairs in the first place.
Stackable, small and unobtrusive, our kids are comfortable in the chairs and strap in just fine. Also - when we're outside, we just hose them off.
I'm not a fan of filling landfills with plastic, but even the nicest wooden high chairs have some plastic elements, so it seems fairly unavoidable. And feeding babies/toddlers on your lap might work for some, but...
review »I like the IKEA Antilop high chair so much better than the typical ones on the market. For one, it's cheap. It isn't ugly. And it's easy to clean, since it's one piece of hard plastic. You can use it with or without a tray, so it's good for stand-alone use as well as for pulling up to the dining table. (It fits right under our IKEA dining table too!)
One feature this lacks, compared to other brands of high chair, is that the seat position is not adjustable and cannot recline to accommodate younger babies who aren't sitting up on their own yet. But if you don't plan on using the high chair...
review »We bought this as a spare to leave when visiting gramma and gramdpa. I liek it b/c it was cheap- but it really is dull and boring looking. Ikea's Antilop high chair is very spartan, but that may be what some people like.
I love this product!!
This is an excellent value. You can buy extra trays (they are only$5.00), so while one is in the dishwasher, you can have an extra.
I bought this one with my third child and love how it all come apart easily if you want to travel with it.
You may want to buy a cushion if the child sits in it for longer than a meal.
Best used for a baby over 6 months.
It has no bells and whistles at all, but is well made.
I fits right up to the table without the tray, so it is handy in that way.
We use this height chair whenever we go to the IKEA dining area. Our daughter seems to like it and have fun when we are there. I'm not sure how safe/stable the chair is as your child gets bigger and moves with more force. It's good for now though..................
The only reason I wouldn't recommend it is because of how light it is. I doubt its safety for older children.
The chair is all washable and lightweight. It makes it simple to lift it up over the sink and spray off if the meal was a mess. Straps are adjustable but nothing else is. The tray removes if you want your child to sit up to the table with you. It was pretty cheap price and replaced the expensive highchair that caused me more work.
my lil neice had one of these -antilop high chair. i didnt like it from the begging it did not look safe or sturdy enough for me .my nephew at 3 grabbed a hold of the leg and tryed to swing on it. the antilop high chair fell with my sister catching her 1 year old baby in the nick of time -conclusion my sister threw it out on her porch.
