Not very durable

I have been unimpressed by this all-in-one printer.  I do like the flat screen scanner/copier, and I use them quite frequently.  It took me a long time to figure out how to get the scanner to work, and it turns out that I hadn't installed all of the software when I first installed the printer.  I thought I had done everything, but obviously not.  Now that it's installed, it still takes me a while to find how to get it to work (sometimes there's swearing), but once I find it, the scanner works fine.  The copier function it easy.  Just put the paper on the screen and push copy.  My real problem is with the printer function.  The print quality is pretty awful.  On some print outs only half a line will print, and if I have to make multiple copies of something, the first one is okay and the rest are unuseable.  We had to buy another cheap printer to use for anything more that coupons or junk printing.

Outdated, but simple PSC 1600

My family purchased this old model for very cheap not too long ago because we needed only a basic printer to fulfill basic needs. It worked for a while, I'd say about two years, doing pretty much every thing we needed it to do without much of a hassle. Sometimes there were paper jams, and sometimes the ink jets would get misaligned, but usually it was nothing we couldn't fix, given that we are not printer experts. However, one notable thing about this product is that it is slow. It takes quite a while to warm up and get ready, and the actual printing of pages, especially color ones, was so slow you could leave the room to get the laundry and then come back and would almost be finished. Add in the standard cost of ink cartridges that you'd pay for any other printer, and the actual savings for buying this printer was minimal. It worked fine for what we needed it for, but if we could do it all over again, we would have probably picked a faster, newer printer.

Great for personal use

This HP 1600 All-in-One printer/scanner is a nice little machine that can help create an organized space for an at home office. As all All-in-one printers work, it provides great options for an at home office. It's capabilty to scan images bodes well for pictures, processing documents or even an everyday receipt. It continues to scan at high qualities and allows the user multiple functions. The printer is high quality and will perform all of the functions asked in a small home office. One of the problems I have noticed with the scanner is that it does not save documents in the multi-purpose format known as a PDF. This option would really appeal to many audiences, as a PDF is a smaller size than a JPEG and can be easily attached in an email. The printer cartridges are a little expensive, but that is not the printer's fault, but the manufacturer. Overall, I think this item is simple, easy to use and perfect for everyday functions at home!
