Comments about HP Pavilion a1473w desktop computer:
I got this machine four years ago and thought I was getting a pretty good deal with it. It worked fine for a while but then got slower and slower and had more and more that needed attention.
I found finally it would tell me it needed an update but when I tried to download it, it said I could not get it. It downloaded but would not install as it said there was something wrong that I could not get it. I did regular maintenance that is required on all computers as far as I am aware of, the cleaning of the hard drive, defragging and such. Still the problems came up.
Most of the software was pretty good that was on it from the beginning but there was a lot of games and such that I never did play with and just made things slower. Some of the features I never did learn to use and there was no literature telling even what it was so when I did learn what it was, I still was in the dark and had nothing to use with it anyway.
Overall, it has been a pretty good computer although I would have to admit the problems I have had with it takes away from the fun that could have been had with it. I am now told it needs a new motherboard. For anyone that does not know what that is, it is the whole system on the inside that holds everything together and makes everything work. Like your mother that put you to work doing things, this is the thing that puts out the orders to get things done and the CPU or brain of the computer is attached to this.
I have never had a Mac but have one on order since I have heard nothing but good about them and have had so many problems with the Windows type. So watch and you will see a review on that soon. I have had nothing but PC's since they came out and seen so many problems with them so if the Mac can do better as it is promised, it will be a real relief.
As of the present day, I would say if you want a computer that will go for a while anyway, without much problems, this would be a good one to start with. I had one Dell and will never have another one as that is the bottom of the line in service and quality. That is another review altogether.
