my hp deskjet printer is still alive after 10 years

5

Wow. what a great printer. bought it sometime in high school and that was over 10 years ago, and it still works to this day! sure its a bit slower than the new printers, but this pritner still prints. it did a GREAT job printing all my school papers and reports. the ink, however, is expensive to replace but i recommend HP over tothers becuase unlike Epson, it only has two cartridges to place, and the ink can be refilled at local drug stores and warehouses for 1/3 of the price of buying a new cartridge, and it works fine. This printer also prints really quick, and i have not had issues with it. paper tray holds enough paper. its a tad big (hard to hide anywhere without the paper tray sticking out) but the ease of use, quality have made up for that. i like the simplistic minimal button look, and the grey/manila color combination helps keep  the printer look clean in any dusty area (i.e. black shows dust).

Great for Photos

3

My parents bought me this printer when I was graduating from High School and on my way to college (and therefore would not be able to use the family printer anymore).  I was very into photography at that time, and even considered it for my major, and so this is the printer they selected.  It is great for printing photos.  The color and clarity is amazing.  However, I must warn users that the ink is more expensive than other printers, for the reason that it is a 'better quality' for pictures.  So if you are just going to use it for printing college papers as a student, or coupons as a Mom, then I wouldn't recomment this one.  Buying ink is so frustrating when you can see how cheap some are and how expensive this is.  It is easy to move, which is a plus for students.  I moved it from dorm, to apartment, to apartment, etc, for years and it was light, and never broke.  Looks great- nice silver gray colors, so fits in any dorm room or office.

hewlett packard is the best printer i have ever used

i actually started using a computer about eight years ago. however, i never thought i was smart enough or savvy enough to try using a printer or even trying to install one. i have purchased several printers over the years and have found that some of them just don't "hold up" to the challenge of frequent use. i have experienced frequent break-downs, smeared ink, illegible ink, quick run-out of ink and just general system failure. i wonder just how many printers i have thrown in the garbage? over the course of eight years, i would say probably at least five have found their way to the dump. i have owned cheap printers and expensive printers. one day, quite frustrated, i decided to try an all-in-one printer because i figured that maybe i needed to purchase a more high-ended printer in order to avoid all the frustration of break-down and inferior printing results. big mistake!! i purchased an all-in-one printer twice in the span of five years and found they were just junk. i even payed nearly 250.00 for one i thought was the answer to my problems. i have seen hewlett-packard printers that i thought "looked" cheap and always passed them up. then, one day, having tossed another printer in the garbage, i decided to buy the hewlett-packard i now have and have had for three years. wow!! have i been pleasantly surprised. i use this printer nearly every day as i am coupon-happy and also like to print all the information i find online that i want to keep, like medical, new products, even some e-mails i get from friends that i think is worth keeping. i have replaced the ink cartridges only once and only because i thought it was getting just slightly dim. i have never had even a slight problem with the hewlett-packard deskjet 960c i now have. it prints out clear, quality copies and i am very pleased with its performance. it is also quick to respond to my computer's command to print and prints with quality precision. should this printer break down, as i'm sure it will as it ages, i will definitely look for another one, even if i have to buy it used. i have no doubt i will have this printer for at least another three years and that is fine with me. i will never buy another expensive printer to do what this quality little hewlett packard can do all by its little old self. i only hope they are still making them by that time. at this point in time, i wouldn't even consider any other brand. i've probably tried them all.

I Just Love my HP 960c Printer

5

Ive had  my HP Deskjet 960c printer, for 6-7 yrs. now and its stilll working like I got yesterday. I just love the color of what ever I print out, esspecially coupons.  This is a printeer I would recommend to anyone who is looking to get I color printer, when you need new ink its not hard to tell because the color is not as vivbrant and one of the lights on the printer blinks to let you know that its time for new ink. Im always printing coupons, and memos about 20 prints a week.  Just the name alone is why I got this printer HP is a great brand for printer I will not get any other brand of printer.  The HP 960c is not expensive and it does a great job.. Like I said earlier my printer is 6-7yrs. old and it still works like I just got It yesterday its unbelievable, you will not be sorry that you purschased this item or recommended it to a friend or family memer, it would even be a great investment for a small office or a gift since the holidays are just around the corner.  I hope this review helps... :)

Good printer, but with limitations.

The Deskjet 960c has been an excellent printer for the five years I and my family have used it. It gives very nice photo printouts and clear, easily legible text(even at small font sizes). While the printer is now too slow for my needs, it continues to be a workhorse for mother, as she just uses it to print e-mails and web pages. Be aware, however, that this printer does have some problems related to its age. Firstly, Hewlett-Packard has not issued driver upgrades for this specific printer in three years. As a result, it is not a good printer to use with either Mac OSX or Windows Vista. The printer will work under OSX if you are just performing basic printing, with little graphic complexity, but the driver hangs on complex documents, particularly in Adobe programs. As a result, this printer should not be purchased by users who have newer Macs, and it causes any computer running Vista to slow to a crawl during printing attempts, while the printout itself is never actually made. As such, the printer is only useful with older equipment. Secondly, consumables are expensive. Within those parameters, however, the printer does a nice job. Don't hesitate to purchase this printer for use with older equipment.

Important docs & photos? Don't use an HP!

This and many other HP Printers are not very reliable.  I work with the 960c at home and a Pro K5400 at the office and both have encountered the same problems.  The paper feeder!!  The paper catches, gets ripped on its way through, the corner or the middle of the top of the page gets bent...... I could go on and on!  On the K5400, I get crooked printing constantly.  HP has replaced the entire printer and I STILL have the same problems.  We use high quality printer paper to ensure the best results - it does not help. I would not recommend an HP Printer.
