We recently (about a year ago) upgraded to a side by side refrigerator so we could have more fridge and freezer space, and also for the built in ice/water dispenser. After looking at what felt like hundreds of refrigerators, we finally decided on this one, mostly because it had all the features we absolutely wanted and was on sale, not because it stood out so distinctly from its competition. So far, it has worked like a charm (knock on wood, since as we were shopping I kept reading story after story about refrigerators breaking down). We had a minor issue at first with the temperature being too cold in the fridge section but it was easily remedied because the digital temperature controls are with the automatic dispenser. I like that the fridge is roomy, bright, energy efficient. I don't love the dispenser - the ice comes out way too fast and the water stream comes out really far (making it hard for my son to fill his small cups). Also, because it was a cheaper model there are a few things I would have liked (like nicer door bins) but it's not that big of a deal and I've managed without the extra perks quite nicely. If it continues to work this well for another 10 years I'll be totally hooked.

I bought this refrigerator from a giant home improvement store.  It has been nothing but problems since I brought it in and plugged it in.  I had to have the repair come out within a month of owning it.  It wasn't keeping things cool.  All my food had to be thrown out.  The reason?  Somebody forgot to plug in the defroster on the inside of the fridge.  Then I had to call a repairman again, every time I tried to get any ice, it ground up cubed (loudly too) reason?  An ice cube was stuck inside.  Next problem, it squirted water out all over from the front.  Problem after problem.  My door shelves in the fridge have broken 3 times.  Now, well, it's working, but after the repair man being called out at least 4 times, I don't even remember anymore, tried to block it all out.  Maybe it just had a lot of kinks.  Who knows.  I just knock on wood that it keeps working.  So, that is why I don't recommend it or frigidaire.
