reliable and big but slow.

I purchased this product in 2007 for 160.00 it has been a great product as it has been very reliable this whole time. I use it nearly every day. I have used it for virtual machines watching videos, storing music and system back-ups during re installs of Operating systems. It is a little slow for things like virtual machines and there for just doesn't work very well. But its most current uses have been for watching videos slideshows and power-point presentations of TV's with USB ports. It has been a great and very reliable drive for a lot of years, the only thing I wish it had was the ability to be used as a bootable device. The 16 gig size is awesome because it allows for a lot of storage. today drives come come much bigger and USB 3 is way faster. Over all I am very happy with this product due to its reliability over years of steady use. I just wish it were able to be used for virtual machines and boot-able devices which would allow it to be used as live disks for things like Ubuntu.

16GB Flash Voyager -- Okay...

3

I purchased this 16GB Flash Voyager about an year ago so I'm pretty much an expert at this Flash Voyager. It's got great capacity with it's 16GB size. The exterior of the 16GB Flash Voyager is a rubbery like texture that feels secure and sturdy. The cap is not stuck to the 16GB Flash Voyager and is removable. Therefore, it does not stay on the device like many other usb drives. This cap is easy to lose, but it can't be too bad because all you have to do is ask Corsair for a new cap and they mail it to you for free. This flash drive's speed is also fairly slow. On large files, it takes a long time to transfer files. Switching the device to a NTFS drive does not speed up the speed of this device. You can't complain though because the price of this flash drive is just superb. Half the time it is on sale and comes with rebates. The only problems with this flash drive is that it is slow and the appearance may not appeal to all users. I would recommend purchasing a faster USB drive that costs maybe a little more.

Corsaid Voyager: Massive Flash Drive at an Affordable Price

I bought my Corsair Voyager 16GB Flash drive a few months back and so far I've been extremely pleased with it. Coming in a nice color scheme (black and blue), the drive features a massive amount of storage (16GB) while taking up barely more room than a few sticks of bubblegum. The rubberized shell certainly gives this flash drive some heft - it is heavier than the average flash drive. I don't mind the added weight as with the lanyard safely secured around my neck I never notice it. A previous reviewer said that his did not come with a Lanyard - I'm not sure if they have changed packaging since I bought mine but mine did come with a lanyard (a very comfortable one I might add with security clip on the end). This flash drive has several flaws that keep it from being great, however. The first is the rubberized cap that protects the USB port. The cap isn't secured to the body of the flash drive so that means as soon as you take it off you have to keep up with it. And as you know with most small parts, they are incredibly easy to lose which is exactly what happened to mine - I lost it in literally a day! The other flaw isn't a cosmetic one, unfortunately. While the drive does well when copying big files (100MB+) to and from the device, small files make the flash drive st-st-stutter. Copying a folder of a few hundred MP3's took over an hour, where-as the same amount of data comprised of a single file takes mere minutes. I mainly use my Corsair Voyager 16GB as a backup drive of fairly large compressed files, so it works extremely well for me. But for those of you who want to use the drive for MP3's and other small files, please keep this fact in mind before you decide to buy and use one.

cheap usb drive for 16 bucks

The write speed on this drive is not very fast so dont expect a fast device. Now I will suggest not to format this drive in NTFS. Because once you do so the write and read times on this drive will become unbearably slow. I believe in its current shipped default state this drive is formatted as a fat32. It has a rubery like texture cover which is a little annoying but it claims you can run it over with a truck and it will still function just fine. It does not come with a lanyard cable so you will have to find one and make it work. It has a blue led, and its actual size after formated is 14.9GB you will lose 1GB. I have used this with a mac and a pc and have found no issues in recognizing the device. No drivers are needed and no software or anything like that comes with the drive. So if you are in the market for a cheap storage jump drive then this is the thing for you. If you dont mind a rubberized jump drive. You will now find this drive on sale and offered with a rebate promotion to entice you to buy at a low price.
