Compaq, old but still going

5

I know Compaq don't make their own computers anymore, and some are good, some are bad, but I have to say that my nine year plus Compaq 5320 is still cranking, maybe slow, but still cranking.  During the years, I have maxed out the memory card to 1536 megabits, (it came with 512 megabits) and added another hard drive to it as well, the computer came with a 40 GB hard drive and I added another 30 GB hard drive to it, slaving the smaller one.  It came with a Pentium 4 Processor, 1.5GHz and that's one processor that is pretty good, I must say.   I have had VERY few problems with this system, but the original hard drive did die out on me, but it was still under warrantee when it did.  Compaq did replace it, in home and even gave me the disk I needed for the new hard drive.  I have to recover the hard drive a few times, mainly due to my fault of downloading programs that didn't agree with my system and other programs I was running, but over all it's still been a good computer, hopefully will last me a few more years anyhow, yea I know it's out date, but it does what I need it to do!!  Thanks Compaq! Durability Believe it or not, I did finally replace my old Compaq with a newer model, but still have my older one if I ever need it, it still works!

sturdy desktop and rock solid hardware

4

I got a laptop  2 years back I couldnt handle it, as it was too soft for me. I have to go with a rock solid desktop on the way that I uses it. I decided to go with this desktop from compaq and its turned out to be a hit for the price I put. This is a nice desktop that will meet most people's computing needs. These do not have a dedicated graphics card but it does have the ports to insert one if you choose to buy them separately. The builtin-graphics card by Nvidia, however, are more than adequate for most needs outside of playing video games. For example, I have no issues playing Youtube or other flash based videos. So if you want the best performance computing for the buck, clearly the desktop is the way to go. It also comes with a usable keyboard and a laser mouse. They are not great, but they are better than most OEM keyboard and mouse I have used. The fan on this machine is also quieter than normal. I have found them not distracting at all. These are also made of higher construction quality than most desktops. The casing is made of metal and has many tiny holes in them to let the heat of the AMD microprocessor out of the box as easily as possible. If you are looking for a general computer (not for video games) that can handle all everyday computing needs (internet, MS Office, email etc), then these will be more than adequate. If you do decide to insert a nice graphics card, however, then these should be more than adequate for most video game experience as well.
