When I turned fifty, my sisters gave me a computer for my birthday.  It was a Compaq Presario desktop model that initially gave me a rash.  I had had a bad experience with the whole computer system when in college back in the stoneage and had shunned them ever since.  My sisters got tired of me asking them to find things for me online and decided to get me one to shut me up.  So, now, after a couple of years, I have become rather proficient with it.  About a year ago I was trying to enhance my job abilities with online classes and found AutoCAD.  I downloaded it into my system and, although it is rather heavy on the memory, my computer had no problem using it.  People had questioned whether or not my computer would be able to process the software, if I wouldn't need to add megabites to use it.  My Compaq was just fine.  It came with a twenty inch flat panel monitor which is fine, although a slightly larger one would be better.  Although it takes awhile to get itself started once turned on, it is pretty fast at making connections.  This was my best gift I'd have to say.
