Clearwire was a good option once....not anymore.

I have had Clearwire for 4 years and it has worked fine. For the last week it has become totally unusable. Tech support has run us through all the plugging and unplugging things, and moving the modem. Well apparently they don't have a clue. We have a strong signal but as far us using it to get to the internet forget it. The tower near is supposedly is overloaded.....hey folks this just happened in the last week.....get that. Our options now are to move our house near another tower or get in the car with our laptops and go and sit near another tower. I would suggest that you run very fast in the other direction when thinking about this internet company at this time. I would NOT recommend it to my worst enemy. Call Quality Do not have phone service with them/ Customer Service Not in this country. Only can follow a script not able to do any thing to really fix anything.

STAY AWAY Save on the Headaches !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1

We tried Clearwire, after moving into an Apartment, the tower was 500 years away in a clear shot from our window where we placed the Modem. Some days it worked ok, but no nowhere near the speeds they claimed, then after watching a few Netflix movies online Clear would throttle back the speeds so much it made it useless. .04 download speed per Speedtest.net. I called many times ,but was never told what they were doing until one customer service agent who was working his last day informed me.. As this service was "Over Sold" in my area, and couldn't handle the the Traffic from all it customers. Then I received a postcard in the mail about a Court settlement www.denningssettlement.com We kept our service for the 2 years so we weren't not charged a exit fee. I will NEVER recommend this service to ANYONE STAY AWAY suck it up and pay Comcast, and save on the headaches..

Great for the first day.............

I Actually purchased my modem from craigslist. When I hooked it up, it was still set up in the previous Clear's customer who had leased the modem and owed money. After the sales rep took my $ to activate the modem I was shocked when I was unable to connect. I was told to call customer support. Long story short, after being told again and again that there was no way besides having the previous owner of the modem pay his bill, they did finally assign the Mac address to my account and bingo, i was online. I am able to stream Netflix play COD with NO problems whatsoever. In conclusion, I am very happy with the service and speed of Clear. I live in South Jersey approx 15 miles from Philadelphia. I do not have cable, so do stream via Netflix approx 15 hrs per week. I am very pessimistic of being a victim of Clear's 'acceptable use policy'. Basically there way of clipping your unlimited data and reducing your speed. Only time will tell, i will update this in a few months, hopefully with good news.

Clearwire is a ripoff!!!!

I have had service with Clearwire for over 4 years with very few problems. At the beginnning of March I lost service completley for 4 days. Made numerous calls into tech support. All they could tell me was that they were having issues with a tower and that my account would be credited for my time loss. I work from home so for 4 days I was unable to work. On April 1st when they debited the payment out of my account they took they whole amount, no credit had been issued for the 4 days in March that I was without service. In the first part of April I lost service for 5 days after numerous calls into tech support with no help. At that time they told me my account would be credited for my time lost and my time lost in March. Awhole $10. credit for 9 days of lost service!! I decided it was time for me to look for another internet provider. After going with another company I called to cancel my service on the 16th of April only to be informed that they couldn't cancel my service until the end of the month because it was a prepaid and all the money that was supposed to be credited to me and my partial month of service wouldn't be refunded to me because I was canceling my service with them. I am on the phone now with account services going back and forth with a lady that wont disclose her name to me about refunding my money. After telling her 5 times that I want to speak to a supervisor she has me on hold once again. So far the calls been 45 min long and I'm no better off than what I was before I called. Take my advice YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. IF PAYING A LITTLE MORE MEANS BETTER SERVICE DO SO!! Dont waste your time with this company!!

Bait & Switch ~~!! WATCH OUT!

1

Queried FIRST about returns if the new 4G Router would not work.  Was ASSURED that return within 15 days would be no problem; FULL refund, mind you, including the $35 Activation Fee.  Well, got it home, plugged it in and NO SIGNAL.  Called the store, got the usual 'did you try this, did you try that . . .'   Of course, if it were working, I wouldn't be phoning, eh?  Store Manager said bring it back to Bell SQ, but I learned it had to be MAILED back, after they send out UPS labels with pre-paid postage, AND NO . . .  they would NOT refund the $35 FEE for a service which never actually activated.  Where's the Bait & Switch, you wonder?  Well, if what you buy doesn't work, they make you listen to an entire litany of upgrades and services.  Don't try to short cut by saying you don't want anything further . . .  HA!!   I had tried Clearwire when they first came out several years ago and unfortunately it didn't work then, either.   BUT, liked helpful customer service so much that I thought I'd try again in case they had more towers and newer equipment.  No such luck.  Now embroiled in the battle to get out of what still does not work.  Please do NOT make my mistake . . .  stay away from Clearwire! Call Quality poor Customer Service poor Compatibility poor Calling Features poor Ease of Use No service

Fairly good faster internet

It does get a little expensive after the trial period, but its about the same cost for other high speed internet services.  If you are in their coverage area, the signal is great, and if you are not they will recommend not getting it.  One of the best features is that it is mobile, so that multiple computers may use the signal, and you can move the device to different rooms.

Waste of money

1

Sometimes you get a connection and sometimes you don't, and no one cares. You are stuck in a contract wether or not you are able to use the service. The price goes up drastically after the trial period and the service seems to get worse.  The modem they give you kicks you off the internet whenever it chooses.

Clear Internet = Bad Choice

1

I used Clear for about a year. Horrible experience, especially being in college needing the internet at home. I never got higher than 2 bars out the 5, and often it wouldn't even work! Tried everything several time that they told me, they had HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, they put me on hold forever, transfered me again and again, and tried to sell me again to not cancel. They wouldn't respond to my emails or chats either. Finally, when I just straight up told them that I am cancelling and my mind is made up, they said I would be charged UNLESS I refered a friend or sold the device to somene else!!!! Are you kidding me??STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT TO AVOID A LOT OF STRESS

BEWARE! Re-stocking fee for 3 year old modem

1

BEWARE! Hidden fees when cancelling service! I recently moved to Magnolia and had to cancel my 3 year old Clear account as I no longer could receive any bars unless it was out on my deck. I cancelled my account at the begining of the month, and received a bill in the mail 4 weeks later for a $40 re-stocking fee for the modem. The re-stocking fee was never mentioned during my cancellation call (yes, you will need to call in to cancel your account) and it is also very disconcerting that they are re-stocking modems that are 3 years old.

Horrible service

I ordered a travel modem from clearwire. They first got my address wrong, which did not get me the modem with next day delivery. Then when I finally did recieve the modem, which they over charged me for, it would not install onto my brand new lab top I had just purchased. When I contacted clearwire's tech service they could not help me and sent me to a customer rep to process the refund I had requested. They told me to print the label they were sending me via email and drop the modem at a ups store. They said once they recieved it, I would be refunded the money I had paid for it. Two days went by and I never recieved the label. I had to call them back to get them to send another label. I finally recieved the label 4 days later, immediatly took it to the ups store. I tracked the modem to when it had been delivered and contacted clearwire again concerning my refund. They recieved the modem on 6/14/11, today is the 17th and they still claim they have not recieved the modem, and will not refund the $174.56 they charged me for it until they do. I have been given ticket numbers for my complaints, been put off, hung up on, rerouted when asked for a supervisor, and been given every excuse possible. I would not recommend clearwire for anyone!
