Most HelpfulWithout any warning or notice Citi canceled my Shell credit card. Payment were always on time and over the minimum, and balance was about half the limit. But that wasn't good enough for them. Their decision was based entirely on their credit score for me. So good ridance. I'll buy my gas elsewhere.
I had a Citi Shell Gas Mastercard util I got a $39 late charge on my $50 balance. Here's what happened. I pay most of my bills online and I have my account set up to receive statements via email rather than regular mail. When I went to pay my bill on the Citi website, it told me I was unable to make my payment and to try again later. I tried a couple more attempts but it was still down so I ended up getting a $39 late fee. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. I'll just call and tell them what happened. review »My wife tried to use our Citi Shell MasterCard this AM. I've been a customer since the Summer of 2007. I've really enjoyed the 5% rebate, until this AM that is.
Apparently, paying your balance in full each month isn't good enough and we found out at the gas pump that they cancelled the card yesterday. No letter, no phone call.
We have excellent credit, pay our balances in full each month and WHAM they treat us like this.
I can't imagine how they would treat you if you fell behind.
I guess that's why Citi is struggling and Chase is doing well. So we'll change our buying habits and use BP instead...
