Overpriced, fragile, and unhealthy for your nails
I've had three of the CND Shellac manicures from the spa where I get my hair cut and colored. Like most people I want stronger, thicker, longer nails; the nail tech swore that CND could deliver this. She claimed that the shellac polish would allow my nails to grow healthier and longer because it would protect the nails from breakage. Sadly, the CND shellac manicure was just an overprice, overdamaging, regular nail polish manicure. First of all, the CND Shellac colors at the salon I went to were VERY limited. Not many metalics or frosts, mostly just very dull cremes. Second, the application is very different than a nail polish. It's easy to get the texture wrong on the nail, so make sure you have a very experienced person doing the application. The second one I had needed a few touch ups as it dried and it made it take a long time. Third, these do not last anywhere near as long as they claim. I've heard claims of two or three weeks...mine started chipping after three days. I followed all the rules. I wore gloves when doing dishes or using any cleaning products. I reapplied a clear coat. I even bought the CND brand SolarOil and used it twice a day, per directions. No luck, still chipped. Fourth, by the end of the weak it wasn't just chipping it was peeling too. As it peeled, it took quite a bit of my nailbed with it. It took weeks to repair afterward. I ended up just getting two more of these manicures to see if I could repair the damage. The other two ended up the same way.
