Overpriced, fragile, and unhealthy for your nails

By

from Indiana

Comments about CND Shellac no chip manicure:

I've had three of the CND Shellac manicures from the spa where I get my hair cut and colored. Like most people I want stronger, thicker, longer nails; the nail tech swore that CND could deliver this. She claimed that the shellac polish would allow my nails to grow healthier and longer because it would protect the nails from breakage. Sadly, the CND shellac manicure was just an overprice, overdamaging, regular nail polish manicure.

First of all, the CND Shellac colors at the salon I went to were VERY limited. Not many metalics or frosts, mostly just very dull cremes.

Second, the application is very different than a nail polish. It's easy to get the texture wrong on the nail, so make sure you have a very experienced person doing the application. The second one I had needed a few touch ups as it dried and it made it take a long time.

Third, these do not last anywhere near as long as they claim. I've heard claims of two or three weeks...mine started chipping after three days. I followed all the rules. I wore gloves when doing dishes or using any cleaning products. I reapplied a clear coat. I even bought the CND brand SolarOil and used it twice a day, per directions. No luck, still chipped.

Fourth, by the end of the weak it wasn't just chipping it was peeling too. As it peeled, it took quite a bit of my nailbed with it. It took weeks to repair afterward. I ended up just getting two more of these manicures to see if I could repair the damage. The other two ended up the same way.

A polish that doesn't chip

By

from USA

Comments about CND Shellac no chip manicure:

This is by far the best shellac made. It does not chip and can withstand people who are actually hard on their hands. I have gone clam digging, done yard work, washed dishes, and not one chip. It takes about 2 weeks to see grow out but by then you want to get the polished changed. This shellac is available in some great colors and my favorite is the Red Baroness.

More than 5 Stars!

By

Comments about CND Shellac no chip manicure:

CND Shellac no chip manicure is no joke!  It lasts for at least 2 weeks.  The only reason I had to take it off was my nails were growing too long, making it difficult for me to take off contact lens at night.

CND Shellac no chip manicure makes my nail look so shiny, without any re-touch for 2 weeks, seriously NO chips at all.  It is especially great if you are going on for a vacation and do not want to bring all the bottles along which is a nuisance if you are not checking in luggage and still abide by the airport security's rules of limited liquid on the plane, or do not want to spend time at a salon which takes away your sightseeing time.

Two drawbacks about CND Shellac no chip manicure: (1) It costs more to get it done compared to a regular manicure.  I am not sure if the higher price will stay after the novelty period is off.  (2) It requires using pure acetone to take off the polish, which is harsh and drying to your skin/cuticles.

I strongly recommend it - in fact I rave about it!  If you don't have a lot of time, this is an efficient way to have the perfect 10 with you all the time (oh well, for 2 weeks).

The Manicure that Lasts Two Weeks or More!

By

from Cheboygan, MI

Comments about CND Shellac no chip manicure:

I will start this review by saying that I am not a manicure sort of person. CND Shellac Nails was a first-time manicure for me. I heard of this system from a former sister-in-law, who posted a photo of her Shellac Nails french manicure on Facebook. I started investigating, and got very excited by the look of this manicure. It has a mirror-like finish, and it claims to last "Up to 14 days" with no touch-ups.

I was going on a cruise to Alaska, and disliked the idea of packing nail polish, remover, cotton balls, top coats, etc. It was just too much. I had to make room for layering pieces, rainwear and formal wear! I went to the CND website and found a salon in my area. I made an appointment only to have in cancelled by the salon a week prior to my appointment. This system is so popular and so much in demand that they had trouble keeping up with product demand. I eventually found another salon who did the manicure for me.

WOW! Honestly, this manicure looked like a million bucks! The only setback is that there is a limited number of colors available. Apparently, these colors can be mixed to make other colors, but this is done by just layering them. I chose a very soft rosy / lilac shade called Strawberry Smoothie. The UV light cures the color to a hard mirror shine, and when I walked out of the salon that manicure was set in stone!

Did this manicure last 14 days? Yes! In fact, I took a photo at 15 days. It still had that mirror shine, and the nail tips still looked great. However, my nails grow fast, and there was quite a bit of regrowth at the nail bed. If you have a vacation, a cruise, or a honeymoon planned - go for this manicure! You'll be so happy! Choose a color that you can live with for a while because it is going to be there a long time!

Cons:

- Cost

- Limited Color Selection

- Available in limited number of salons

- Harder to remove nail color. (This involves soaking nails in acetone and scraping from the base of the nail upward - or get this removed at the salon. I am too cheap!)
