Wonderful Baby Einstein mat

5

I received this play mat from my mother in law.  I would never pay full price for this item but we LOVE it.  The mat folds up easy when it is not in use and it allows you to take it places in the car.  The mat is very easy to assembly and it offers lots of fun for young babies.  The four toys hanging are all different my baby never seemed to get bored.  Once she learned to roll over the toys at the base of the legs were new and exciting for her.  In the middle of the top of the mat there is a star that lights up and plays music when prompted.  I feel like this was a wonderful part of the product!  You were able to change the setting so the music started any movement was detected or when it was physically moved.  It can be physically moved by the baby kicking one of the legs.  I think this is a great way to teach cause and effect at an early age.  This mat holds up wonderfully when washed.  This is a great product.

Wonderful activity mat for new babies

5

I was very happy with this product. We received it as a shower gift and it got a lot of use from our daughter from the time she was a few months old until she learned to walk and stopped staying in one place. The mat itself is soft, washable and has an entertaining design. The accessory toys and nice because they offer baby a variety of sights, textures and sounds to play with. My daughter was especially fond of the yellow star that lights up and plays music. She loved to make it play and would watch it for a long time. The mirror also kept her attention. She had a lot of fun playing on this mat. She even learned to roll over while playing on this mat. I think she was trying to get a better view of her toys and just flipped right over one day! I like that this product offers safe, colorful and fun toys for baby to play with. We were very happy with this product and I think it would make a great gift for a new baby!

fun play mat - nothing too special about it

3

we got the baby einstein discovery activity mat for our baby when he was a few weeks old.  we wanted a safe place for him to play on the floor that was more stimulating than a plain blanket.  he loved to lay there at first and look at the dangling toys and especially the star on top that flashed lights and played music.  as he got older and started to reach for things, it was great to see him focus in on a toy and go for it.  the mat was great for giving him things to do while lying on his back, but also wonderful for tummy time each day.  the designs on the playmat offer lots for baby to look at and study and lots of ideas for stories for you to make up and tell baby as he takes it all in.  this toy was great for several months - until he started rolling and crawling away.  finally, we knew it was time to pack it up when he tried to pull himself up to standing on the bars! it was very useful for many months though.  also, loved how washable it was.

REALLY NEED FOR THE 1ST 6 MONTHS

THE BABY EISTEIN DISCOVER & PLAY GYM IS REALLY NEAT. I HAVE 2 BOYS, 4 1/2 AND 2. THEY BOTH USED THIS AND NOW A COUSIN HAS IT. IT FOLDS UP FOR EASY TRAVEL. YOU CAN THROW THE MAT IN THE WASHER MACHINE. THE ATTACHMENTS CAN BE PLACED ALL AROUND THE "ARMS". THE ANIMALS SQUEAK, AND THE STAR HAS BATTERIES, FOR PLAYING MUSIC( I WISH THA PLAYED A LITTLE LONGER). THE BABY CAN SEE HIMSELF IN THE MIRROR. IT HAS VERY BRIGHT COLORS AND DESIGNS. A NEWBORN CAN JUST LAY BACK AND LOOK. AS HE GETS OLDER, IT IS SO EXCITING TO SEE HIM REACH FOR AN ATTACHMENT WITH HIS HANDS AND FEET. WHEN HE STARTS TO SIT UP, HE CAN GRAB THE MIRROR FOR  A CLOSER LOOK. I COULD NOT HAVE LIVED WITH OUT THIS PRODUCT...A MUST HAVE.

Best toy for floor time!

5

This toy was by far the best toy for floor time. We got a lot of use out of this toy both for floor and tummy time. The musical star was highly motivating. I like that it was activated my movement. He could stay and play for 30 minutes or more (ahh--those were the days, a non-mobile baby). We attached different toys than the ones that came with it for him to bat at. We still use some of the toys in the car. I like that the star can be removed and put on the carseat for a long ride. Very helpful. It is easy to wash--which we had to do several times. The mat is more faded than the bars now, but that is to be expected. We used this toy until my son pulled up, and would pull the toy over on himself. We didn't ever use the pillow that came with it for tummy time. We tried, but he didn't like it. The bars made good chew toys, too--added bonus. It is easy to store--when you put the bars on how the directions tell you. It is easy to throw in the car and take to grandparent's house. Love it!!!

Great for newborns

4

I recieved this play gym when I was pregnant with my first son. It looked like something that my unborn son would like, but I thought that he might get bored quickly. When he was around 2 months, I put him under it and he was so excited. He loved all the bright colors and the toys that moved. It was also great when we needed to do tummy time since there was a thing to prop him up and then he was able to look at himself in the mirror. He normally hates tummy time, but being on this allowed him to love tummy time. It was also great to use when I needed to clean things around him because it kept him busy. I would definitely reccommend this to any pregnant or new mom to use for their newborns. I liked that the toys were removable, so I could switch them around so he wouldn't get bored. I also liked that it was washable because he spit up a lot and it was great to just throw it in the wash. It wasn't that much money, so it was definitely worth it.

The Baby Einstein Discover & Play Gym is just okay

3

The Baby Einstein Discover & Play Gym is very colorful and really gets the baby to look at everything around him/her. The star at the top can be used to calm the baby and get them interested in the toys because it has lights and music. Then they start to look at all the other toys on the play gym. I think the toys are too far away and not really something the baby can play with. They can only really stare at them. I believe they would enjoy the play gym more if they could get to the toys to interact with them. I put down a blanket under the baby and I don't place them directly on the play gym mat. I do this because if the baby spits up on the gym blanket then you cannot use it until you wash the piece and put it back together. It cannot be used without the blanket part. I like how some of the other play gym toys can just be placed over the baby and they lie down on whatever you want them to lie on.

Great for tummy time

3

We got this for a baby shower gift before our first son was born. He loved the musical sun that goes in the center. I loved being able to attach different things to it by buying additional hooks.  We really enjoyed it for our second son because he was developing a flat head. Activity mats like this one can help encourage tummy time because it gives the baby a distraction while having tummy time. I love that it's washable too; this is great if you have a baby that loves to spit up. It's really easy to put back together after you wash it. The little green pillow that comes with it was a joke. I don't know what you could possibly use it for because it's thick to be a head support, but not thick and wide enough to put under their arms for tummy time. We just threw it out. I also thought the picture of the bunny was silly but I guess you could change it out with other pictures; we just never took the time to do that.  I wish the padding on the bottom was a little softer. If it wasn't tummy time I was seeking, I always put another blanket under my boys because it was sort of rough material.

Baby Einstein Discover & Play Gym, very entertaining

5

My son loved his Baby Einstein Discover & Play Gym. The bright colors and different shapes and toys kept his attention for quite a while. This is a great gym to lay your baby on their back so they will have some entertainment. As for tummy time, this gym is not so great. There is not enough toys at eye level when they are on their tummy to keep their attention.  Even after my son out grew the gym, he loved playing with the toys. It is great that the toys are not attached to the gym so they are easily removable. The links will allow you to clip it onto a stroller or car seat so this product will last your child a while. The toys are pretty high so it is hard for a baby to reach them, which can get frustrating for them. But I just removed a few toys, and gave it to him. The ones that can be attached lower on the sides were no problem to reach. I had no problems with the gym tipping or falling over, it was pretty sturdy. I machine washed the mat many times, threw it in the dryer for a few minutes, but mainly let it air dry by hanging it. Overall It is a great product. This was the only baby Einstein product I had owned, I never bought into that your child will be a genius from baby Einstein idea. I just loved the design and toys that came with this product, and my son did too.

Baby Einstein Play Gym is okay

3

We got our Baby Einstein Discover and Play Gym 3 years ago as a baby shower gift.  Everything about it is great if you don't know any better.  The star is great with the way it lights up and plays music.  We have played it so much I have memorized the order of the music and can hum along with it.  It's nice when the baby is having tummy time that she has something to look at.  It is supper easy to clean, you just detach the ends and throw it in the wash and dryer.  The green pillow is completely useless.  My sister has a Fisher Price (I believe) that is more like a mobile and seems to have way more going on than just the star flashing lights and playing music.  I'm not sure what the cost difference is but I would go with the Fisher Price one but like I said this one is just fine and have used it with both of our children.  My second daughter is WAY more fussier than my first and is just now able to lay on the floor and be stimulated by the star (3 months old). The mat has enough padding to be comfortable enough to be on the floor.
