Great rice cooker!

5

I've had this model of rice cooker for 5 years now. It works absolutely perfect and just as new after all of this time. The unit is extremely simple to operate and is an amazing price. After getting this unit with a closing lid, I will never go back to a glass top rice cooker again. Having the sealing lid to avoid splattering and spraying condensation is fantastic. It is an extremely simple unit to use. Just add the rice and water, and press the button. Simple as that. Some people might complain that it is too simple because it doesn't have a timer, but I dont' find that to be an issue. One trick to avoid sticking rice to the bottom of the pot is to unplug the unit as soon as the button pops indicating the rice is cooked. If you let it sit on the warm function it will burn the rice to the bottom of the pot making cleanup a bit more difficult.

My first Rice Cooker

3

I have always prided myself in doing things without gadgets. But rice made me so stinkin frustrated! So I finally gave in and got a rice cooker. I got this one because...well, we didn't have much money after Christmas and it was the cheapest one in Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, I think I got a dud because my lid wouldn't stay down after I'd only used it a couple times. And I mistakingly threw away the receipt. So I now sit a container of salt on top of it to keep the lid down. It works. On the plus side, it cooks the rice quickly (I think...it is my first cooker). And the rice comes out almost perfect...sometimes the bottom can have a little crust, but it still tastes and feels fine. Because it cooks the rice so well, I think it's decent. But next time, I will pay a little more to get a better quality cooker.

An okay rice cooker

I'm Asian so rice is a staple food and it's a must have appliance in the house. When I got married Aroma 8-cup Rice cooker was the first thing we bought with my husband. I picked this one because it was the perfect size for us and our two kids. The rice always turns out good using this, nice and fluffy and well cooked. The only thing I don't like much is you can't remove the lid which is a challenge for clean up.I would have preffered the removable lid so you can just wash it every after use. I still yet to figure out though if I can remove the metal disk inside so I can clean it very well. Because what I'm doing right now is just wiping it off with a paper towel and the thought still boggles me on what's inside the lid because I can't clean it well.****

Competent, well priced rice cooker

The Aroma 8 cup rice cooker does a decent enough job of cooking rice.  Occasionally some of the rice on the bottom will discolor as it gets overcooked, but that's a lot better than having it cook onto the bottom like with a traditional pot.  The 8 cup model cooks enough rice for a few people so you shouldn't need anything larger unless you have 5+ people all eating rice as the main dish.  We lost the lid on our last rice cooker so I'm thankful for the attached lid on this model.  All in all the whole unit feels pretty sturdy plus it comes with a couple of accessories.  There's a plastic steamer tray which I use for tamales, a rice scoop, measuring cup, and rice paddle that I've found to be pretty useful when making egg fried rice.  The removable pot is easy to clean, but if anything else needs cleaning it can be difficult what with the lid being attached to the body. While the Aroma 8 cup perfect for how I use it, it lacks the slew of options that higher end models carry like modes for different rice, the ability to adjust heat based on how the rice is cooking, and other such options that might matter to a rice fanatic.

This is a great rice cooker.

This is the first rice cooker I have ever owned, and I have loved it. We got it for our wedding, and have used it almost weekly ever since. Our favorite thing to do is make our own rice and get take-out for cheaper from the Chinese place down the street. This makes a great amount of rice, big or small, and the rice always comes out fluffy and moist. I also learned from the instruction booklet that you are supposed to rinse the rice before you cook it - something I never knew before. Anyway, this does a good job as well of steaming vegetables and cooking those premade rice packets with the spices - just throw everything in and the rice cooker does the job. I've found that onions come out a little gross, but I think that's the fault of the chef (me), rather than the rice cooker itself.  The inside top of the cooker is a little difficult to clean because of the little nooks and crannies where the rice steam condenses into liquid. There is a little drainer section, but I don't think it works quite as well as it should. Overall, we are more than pleased with our rice cooker. Plus it's a quick and easy dinner maker!

Aroma Rice cooker: my rice does get cooked...

3

I originally bought this rice cooker because it was one of the less expensive options out there and I needed the extra help at dinner time. I do like it but wish I had spent a little bit more on a cooker with a steamer (This same brand has excellent rice cookers at a slightly higher price with extra features) Pros: My rice is always cooked to perfection. This rice cooker is so easy to use my 3 year old can help. It makes plenty of rice for my family of 5. It's also quiet, easy to clean, and inexpensive. It does not get too hot, and is small enough I can pack it away when not in use. Cons: I'm never sure how long it will take to cook, after a year of use it occasionally takes much longer to cook than it used to. It's easy to forget to pop the button down to cook (my husband and sister do this frequently, they think because it's plugged in the rice is cooking). The small clicking noise it makes as the switch flips from "cook" to warm" is really the only indicator that your rice is finished. Also, the switch has flipped to warm on occasion before the rice is fully cooked. You have to remember to unplug it when you're finished using it because there is no off switch.
