No function keys but awesome mini keyboard

5

If you like to use the function keys, then I'd probably will not recommend this remote.  Otherwise, I think this keyboard is great.  I love the trackball that is used as your cursor which makes it very easy for me to navigate.  I love the nano USB adapter which is practically invisible from far away and does not get in the way.  The keypad is very easy to use and feels very similar to a cell phone keyboard.  If you hate typing on a cell phone though, you might not be a big fan.  The device does not look the best, and it does have an awkward shape, but once you put it in your hands, it all makes sense.  Typing and scrolling are easy.  This is the remote I use for my HTPC and I highly recommend it.   This uses 2.4 Ghz frequency though I did not run into any interruptions with my wireless router, microwave, phone, etc.  It'd been nice if it was bluetooth though.  This works for both Windows and Mac so that's a plus.  No software is needed.  Just plug and go!

The lenovo remote is great for the price

4

I use this remote all the time in the bedroom and its great except for one complaint.  The buttons are not very reliable (perhaps poor quality control or I got a bad one).  Some keys work fine but some do not reliably click and the s key is noticeably bad.  Every other time I type an s I have to go back and retype it.  If you carefully and slowly press each key fully it works great, but if you type fast it misses letters.  I noticed that with the s key on mine, if you press more gently, you hear one click.  If you press harder you get a second click.  You have to get that second click for it to enter the letter.   The track ball is a bit loose and poorly positioned in relation to the mouse buttons.  It's easy to hit the track ball and move off target when trying to click a mouse button.   It may sound like I don't like this remote, but for the price, its still a very nice remote.  The size and fit in the hand are great.  The keyboard layout is also great.  Aside from the fact that you cannot type fast, and the occasional missed mouse click because you bumped the track ball trying to press the button, it works great and I use it every day.  If you can get used to slow careful typing, it works great.  The fact that you can try to type fast (though you will miss letters due to the buttons) just goes to show how well the keyboard is laid out and how well it fits in the hand.  If the buttons worked better, I would probably use one in the front room too.  I use a gyration remote out front (much better mouse control but also 3-4 times the price with no keyboard).

Great mini-wireless keyboard from Lenovo

5

I was a little sceptical about this product to begin with but it works very well. It is small and sleek and works from even 20 feet away. All one has to do is insert the USB dongle, insert the battery (included) into the keyboard and that's it; no software, no installation, nothing! It is ergonomically designed and can be held in just one hand. It can be used by both left and right handed people. There is an on and off switch at the back to control battery life. The 'Shift' key is used to switch between upper and lower cases and the 'Function' key is used for characters. It is a little difficult to differentiate between the 'comma' and the 'apostrophe' keys. Also, I wish the mouse buttons were below the track ball, just like on a laptop. Other than that, it's a great buy!

A good little keyboard for a home theater PC

4

I bought the Lenovo N6901 keyboard to use with my home theater pc (or HTPC for short). As an HTPC remote it performs satisfactorily however I do have a few gripes. I would have preffered a track pad to the mouse ball as the ball is difficult to use with one hand, especially when trying to click on a link. Usually the ball will move ever so slightly when I go to click on a link one-handed. This makes the cursor jump and then I miss-click. You really need to use two hands when mousing with this keyboard. Typing feels much like typing on a mobile phone slide-out keyboard. Most keys are accessible from the keyboard. Unfortunately however the function keys have been omitted. I would have also been nice if they keys were backlit. It would help find them in dark home theather environments. Other than these relatively minor short comings this little wireless keyboard works well for home theather pcs.
