Unexpected and blown away

5

Ok as a heads up I was not expecting this device to be shipped with my order from Apple themselves. I did contact them back about the device being sent to me thou I do not remember ordering it, but they were kind enough to just let me keep it. Size; this thing is small, about the size of a netbook keyboard I would say, typing on it is quite straight forward and mistype or typos appear pretty much the same as you would be doing on a typical keyboard. Build; the keyboard is made of both metal and plastic, (metal base, plastic keys), there are some rubber pieces on the bottom of the device to prevent it from slipping. The quality is quite good in terms of feel and thou the unit is made mostly out of metal it does not feel heavy. Connection: the keyboard uses Bluetooth tech to get its connection to your devices and has some decent range (if your batteries still have a decent charge), thanks to this it does not need a dongle as you would expect from most other wireless technology. Out of general interest and because I was board at the time I tried pairing the keyboard to other devices, so far I got it working with my apple TV (2nd gen) as the remote, my ipad, and also android phone. I've not tried with the iPhone due to the latest ios messing up the Bluetooth function so maybe when the next update fixes this I'll try it. Everything I paired it up with worked fine and I would suggest that if you have an Apple TV you definitely pair it up to the device as it make surfing the various channels and searching much easier and simpler, as a full on keyboard I would suggest getting a full sized version of the apple keyboard if you have the space and plan on using this as your full time keyboard, as having the the number-pad is a great help when entering numerical data. For a using on the go with mobile devices such as an ipad or anything you can pair this keyboard with I would suggest you get one if you need to type alot, as other branded bluetooth keyboards I tried, either did not have such as long of life in terms of battery life, or was of much smaller size making it difficult to type quickly. Performance I managed to get about 4 months worth of heavy usage out of some standard duracell batteries Durability considering I use this not only as my main keyboard but also for my portable devices are well, the amount of times I've dropped and treated this thing with no concern, I'm surprised the only thing wrong with mine is the back being slightly scratched. Design it's an apple product, it goes well with all their latest products but for some the metal and white keys seem a bit cold, thou I don't mind this at all. Comfort considering the size of the keyboard and the fact that I use it on the go, it is very comfortable, I have fairly large hands and I have no difficulty with it.

Handy to have but not good for numbers

Like with most apple products, the apple wireless keyboard is handy to have (definitely a luxury). It has a clean and modern look matching the rest of the mac line with the silver finish. I love that it has blue tooth capability which is great for a macbook or mac mini because there simply aren't enough usb hubs to have a keyboard plugged in all the time. The one thing I don't like about the keyboard is that there isn't a section for the number keypad. For someone who uses numbers a lot its quite the nuisance. I wouldn't mind buying the additional add on keyboard but the problem is that the number keyboard isn't apple and it isn't wireless! WHAT?! To have such a deficit in product I would think that apple would keep it in-house and what's the point of having a wireless keyboard if its add on needs to be plugged. Last problem, and I'm not sure if I just got a defective one, but my bluetooth connectivity sometimes syncs in and out. It automatically re-syncs itself but definitely a problem when I'm on the roll typing a paper or essay and I don't notice that bluetooth has stopped. I end up skipping or missing a lot of letters/words before the keyboard has reconnected to my system.

makes it possible to replace laptop with iPad for work

5

This keyboard is compact and lightweight and fits easily within small bags, including bags designed to be iPad-sized. It's great accessory for the iPad so that you don't have to carry around a laptop for work. It's cheaper than many of the other iPad keyboards, and the keys are normally spaced rather than cramped like other keyboards.

The perfect little keyboard!

I got this item when I purchased my iMac last year. I was nervous about using it at first because it's a tiny keyboard. After using it for a few times I found that not only was this a very nice looking keyboard but it has improved my typing skills as well. I am able to type a lot faster with the layout and size of this keyboard. It takes AA batteries and it uses very little battery power from the keyboard. Since it is wireless it requires you to sync it with your computer which with a Mac is through bluetooth. It takes less than a minute to do. Overall I am very happy with this keyboard and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a new keyboard or an Apple product lover.

Works great with my iPad

5

I have used this keyboard a few times with my iPad and it does a good job. It is very light which makes it ideal to take along with you. It is very stylish and just way good over all. Performance Very easy to type with and easy to sync with iPad. Have had a hard time connecting it to a windows computer. Not sure if it will work with windows computers or not. That is a decent size complaint because it is bluetooth and should just work. It is just a keyboard so I don't understand why it won't work with windows out of the box. Durability Looks very sturdy and feel very well made. Should last for years. Design Very pretty keyboard. I drooled over it for months before I got it. Comfort Very easy to type with and move around.

Ergonomic keyboard and great for desktops and laptops alike.

I use this keyboard for my laptop because laptops are flat and when you have them on your desk, it is not very ergonomic. However for those who like to type quickly and comfortably and have a great minimalist design, this is a great keyboard.

sleek and expensive, but worth it

Apple products are pricey, and that's the only thing that put me off buying a wireless keyboard to use with my ipad. My mom got this as a present for me, and it really is worth every penny! The keyboard itself is lightweight and extremely thin. As with all apple products it's ascetically pleasing and minimalist in design. Very sleek. The keys are spaced perfectly apart and the range is pretty far. There's almost no set up, it works right out of the box (batteries included!). All you have to do is hit the button on the side, go to settings on your ipad, turn on bluetooth and find the keyboard. It will ask you to type a short code on the keyboard and that's it! Connecting after that is just a matter of turning bluetooth on or off. I'm able to use this laying down in bed, sitting sideways, up at a table or on a pillow. It's turned my ipad into a fun little toy to browse the net on, to taking over as my main computer. Typing on the ipad was a little awkward and hurt my hands, so I usually put off responding to emails or long comments on faebook, but now it's no problem at all! It never gets hot, and I've only had a problem with lagging once or twice, but I think that was my ipad and not the keyboard. There are no backlit keys, but adding that would detract from the design and kill the batteries pretty fast. There's also no carrying case with it, so I've been using the box it comes in, which is fine because it's a small sturdy little box and works just fine. The only problem with this product, and really it's with the ipad not the keyboard, is that having bluetooth on sucks the battery out of the ipad twice as fast. Otherwise, wouldn't change a thing!!

Apple wireless keyboard just keeps ticking

Ever since I got the Apple wireless keyboard I have been pleased with the space it has opened up for me.  It is way smaller than the one that comes with the Imac and it eliminates yet another cable that always seemed to get in the way.  True, it eliminated USB connection but often that connection wasn't powerful enough to do the job anyway and I have a hub elsewhere that can more than make up for this loss.  I've had this keyboard for a long, long time and have never had to replace a battery.  I don't miss the number keypad at all and I appreciate that the loss of this keypad made this as much more elegant and compact unit.  I understand that this will also work with my iPad and that might be an added bonus since it is very light and portable.  It might turn out to be a useful option, although the built-in keyboard is something I don't find intimidating.   What a nice thing this is! You should buy it.
