My husband and I bought this portable DVD player for our 4-year old son because we often go on long drives and we thought this would help pass the time for him. We bought this particular one because it was inexpensive. Our previous portable DVD player was RCA, which worked just fine, but it got dropped and broke, so we decided to get a cheaper one this time. Performance We haven't had any issues with performance. We really like it and would recommend it. Playback Quality We debated whether we should get the 7-inch or 9-inch and didn't think it really mattered, so we got the Coby 7-Inch Portable DVD Player TFDVD7009. This size has worked out great for my 4-year old son, whom we bought this for. The picture shows up nicely and he loves it! Sound Quality Sound quality is great! Durability I'm not electronically-savvy, but even I can figure this thing out. The buttons are straight-forward and easy to figure out. I'm sure my son will know how to do it by himself soon! This portable DVD player does come with a remote, but I haven't used it yet.

When our portable DVD player died, I knew that it needed to be replaced so we could survive road trips with the kids.  The DVD player I was replacing was no longer available, so I decided to try this one as well as the Audiovox D710PK 7-Inch LCD Portable DVD (I have a review on it too!).  This one was definitely cheap, and you get what you pay for.  The included headphones are ear buds, which do not work for my toddler.  A car adapter is not included, so I had to purchase that separately.  A carrying case/mounting bag is not included either, but I had one from my broken DVD player.  I tried it out at home and it seemed to work fine, so we figured we were good to go.  When we tried it in the car and have had issues with it randomly shutting off.  I don't know if the charger is not working correctly (we purchased the one recommended by the manufacturer) or what is going on with it.  We charged it at home before leaving, so it should have run longer than it did even if it wasn't getting power from the car.  I had purchased the two different DVD players to give them both a try.  I figured with two toddlers we might need two DVD players to keep the peace.  We just put this one away and had them share the other one.  It was much easier finding a DVD both of them would watch then having one of them upset every few minutes because the player stopped working.  I would not buy it again or recommend it.  Spend a bit more and get something better.

After our last portable DVD went out on us, we need a new one.  The price on this DVD was so excellent that we bought two for road trips.  One for the middle seat, one for the back seat.  They have worked really nice.  The screen is a bit smaller than we were accustomed to, but the picture quality is really good.  My other DVD player was a bit selective on the DVD's that it would play, but these two seem to accept all DVD's that we have tried. One disadvantage is that the volume is really low.  Luckily, we have a tape adapter for our Ipod and we use that to plug into the audio part of the player and it extends the sound through the whole car.  It also has all of the plugs to be able to plug it into the Television set. The Portable Players do come with a internal battery, so its very convenient not to have to have wires everywhere and the TV stays charged for about 3 movies, so over 4 hours of play time.  It does not come with a Car adapter plug, which I was a bit disappointed in, but as I stated the play time is pretty good after it has been fully charged.
