I've had this computer for about 4 years now and it has been through quite a lot. It worked perfectly the first couple of years but one problem ive always had with it is over heating. Even when it is propped up on a flat surface it tends to get extremely hot and will over time just shut off because of it. After 4 years my battery will only last me about 5 minutes off the charger. I can no longer watch youtube videos on it and having more than a couple of things open on the computer causes it to freeze up and i always end up needing to restart it. Keep in mind i've put my computer through a lot over the years and i used it heavily. The webcam is wonderful although it never had a mic and now when i try to hook up a mic to my computer it freezes. I also like to play games, which this computer is not suitable for. Even your farmville, and things like that wont work on here after awhile. But if you need a work computer, it works fine if you take good care of it. Although it doesn't have much space on it. I just recently got a flash drive to transfer all of my music, photos, and documents to because i was completely out of space. Even now with nothing on my computer i have little space. Overall this computer is only good for a short while but if you're looking for something reliable and fast that will last you, this computer probably isn't right for you. It was my first computer and i have used the crap out of it. Its still running and i can do the basic surf the web and such on it now, but i am definitely looking into getting a new computer soon.

My husband and I both own 3 different types of Emachines. I have an Emachine e627, and older emachine laptop that I purchased in 2006 and he has had his desktop since 2006 and it still runs like a charm. This is a very reliable brand of laptop and great for college students and everyday use!

This is a very nice laptop computer that would be great for anyone from a college student to a stay at home mom just wanting some communication to the outside world. Has a fair amount of hard disk space for myself personally (136 GB). Easy to take along if your on the go a lot. Seems to be very durable from my personal usage. Has 2 usb ports and an internal cd burner/reader. Battery life is approximately 2 hours. But doesn't always seem to last quite that long. Good for someone who would like a laptop to use mostly in their home.

After my second Toshiba laptop went (the warranty replacement for my first, which was a disaster) I didn't buy a replacement for months. I didn't want to spend the money on an expensive machine which was bound to fail. but after a while my 9 year old desktop computer was more frustrating than useful and I asked my friends who work in IT to keep an eye out for a cheap, decent laptop. My friend sent me a link to the eMachine E627 which was on sale for a very reasonable price. So reasonable I sent my husband to pick it up for me the next day. The touchpad is a little sensitive and sometimes I have trouble with the mouse skipping around while I type, but overall it is a decent machine. It comes installed with the basics, the screen is bright and easy to read, it's fine for watching TV and movies, the battery life is okay and the AC adaptor cord is an elbow design which puts less stress on the connection. (the reason for the failure of both of my other laptops.) 10 months in and no complaints or problems.

Just received the emachine 627 and am very pleasantly impressed.  Very user friendly with ease of access.  Buttons are very fluid and mouse tracking slick.  For the price of this laptop, I bought a net-book which only made me want a full sized laptop.  This laptop is everything I wanted and way beyond my expectations.  The DVD drive is a bit noisy when the machine warms up, but the warm up is extremely fast and I have yet to have an issue with Windows 7.  The outside of the machine is modern yet nicely understated creating a classic look rather than a built in skin that you can not get rid of.  The keyboard took a bit of getting use to but the width of the monitor makes up for it.  The monitor took getting use to only because it gives you a landscape view that is larger than expected from a cost efficient laptop.  I am concerned only with the AMD processor because of past issues; however, again, the price almost makes it seem disposable should issues occur.  Of course, in the event of laptop failure, I will choose not to toss it...I have fallen completely in love with this laptop...and for the price, I should be able to afford any fix it may need in the future.  Here's to a great laptop...thanks 627.

This laptop was purchased at a Black Friday sale for 198.00..... I have seen this machine for over 300.00 I love how fast the operating system is. I replaced another emachine laptop. The other machine was running just fine after 3 years of hard use and it was time to upgrade
