Most HelpfulIt seems I have been using Vicks Vaporub all my life and, in fact, I have! My mother used to slather this ointment on my chest and throat when I was sick and I would always feel better after it was applied.
For colds, coughs, and decongesting, rub a layer of the ointment over the chest and throat and...
Most HelpfulMy family has always used Vicks VapoRub. We're originally from the mountains where you always try home remedies first - unless you're fixing to die on the spot. So, VapoRub is a staple in the medicine cabinet. It sits right there with the Calomine Lotion and BenGay. It never seems to run out either which is a good thing. I think I've had two bottles and one greaseless squeeze tube over my grown-up lifetime. I like the greaseless version, but it does seem like the old type works better.
Vicks VapoRub is a thin, greasy cream that is rubbed on the chest, across the neck and can also be put on other...
review »Wow, I read the reviews on Vicks VapoRub and found something new that I haven't tried but I will tonight. A couple people mentioned using it on your feet to help with colds and callous's, I am very picky about my feet and I bet it would soften them by applying the vicks and putting on socks, I do that with lotions.
My family, like everyone elses's that wrote a review, has used Vicks VapoRub for ever. I know when my siblings and I were just little bitty things, if we got a cold, fever etc. out came the Vicks. I am 63 and my medicine cabinet has never been without a jar of Vicks in it. ...
review »I love this stuff!! It's great. OK it may smell a bit but if it does the job who cares!!
Our son was constantly sick as in infant, always clogged up. Since he was a baby there wasn't much that you could give him that was safe. Trying to get him unclogged was quite a task too! This stuff worked like a breeze!!!!
OK you're saying to yourself VICKS on a baby, isn't that strong for him? Well no...not if you do it this way as recommended by my pediatrician & my grandmother!! Yes my pediatrician did recommend doing this, it was not just another homemade remedy.
This is what you do. Get...
review »I like simple things that work. I've used Vicks Vapor Rub my whole life. When I'm sick enough to go bed, I slather it on my chest, back, neck and even around my ears. I put on an old t-shirt and use the oldest sheet for the bed. Ok...it's a little messy--but having congestion and a cold isn't really that great in itself. Without fail, I'm going to feel better in the morning. It starts making the congestion drain out of my body and it has to come out to feel better. I use decongestants sparingly and just prefer to let my body get the crud out with a little help.
And if I need help...
review »who hasnt tried this product, come on this has been around since, well who knows, i remember as a child my mother rubbing it on my chest and felling so amazed that all that stuffiness would just go right away, I found it to be AMAZING! I have always kept a jar in my medicine cabinet, jeez could you imagine having the flu and no vicks vapor rub, well me either
Besides the old fashioned-rub it on the chest and under the nose routine- I do the bucket full of hot water with chunk of VapoRub, then hover over the nice-moist steam with a towel over the head, to ensure maximum inhaling of the Vapo-Steam.
It opens up my pathetically stuffed Nose and relieves Sinus pressure almost instantly-allowing me to sleep throught the night without the groaginess other Nighttime medicines leave you in the morning.
Wheather you are completely drugged up- and still unable to sleep at night because your nose is stuffed- or just starting to feel sick and don't want to take...
I love vapo rub. It reminds me of child hood, my mother and feeling secure.
I forgot about it until I moved to Michigan, land of the 6 month winter. My friend suggested that I rub it on my neck and chest, wrap up in a towel and let it sit for at least an hour. I did and my symptoms were gone.
It can also be used for numbing the face before tweesing your eyebrows!
