During fall and winter we get stuffed up and it is hard to breathe while sleeping. I think that this icy hot product is new. I got it on a promo at the drugstore. One thing that really attracted me to it was the "no-mess" part. This is a vapor rub topical cold product - you put it on your chest and neck when you go to bed to help you sleep better and help clear congestion with the aid of menthol vapors. So, instead of reaching into the vapor rub tube of thick. petroleum jelly base goo and having to get it all over your hands too, Icy Hot offers this tube of vapor gel that has a foam applicator on the end. You just squeeze and the gel comes out the end of the foam applicator and you spread it around your chest without having to actually touch the stuff with your hands. I hate getting that gooey mess on my hands so I think that this is a great new application technique! The gel itself seems to work quite well - just like the other vapor rubs. It gets warm and smells like methol vapors, etc. It did help me rest more comfortably and help keep my congestion to a minimum. It works within just a few minutes. If you like using vapor rub, than you'll most likely like this product too.
