I have used many different radar detectors and the Valentine One (V1) stands head and shoulders above the others.  Tests by many independent reviewers show the range of the V1 far exceeds any of the others.  By the time many other detectors alert you to a possible threat, it's too late.  You've already been nailed. One of the best features of the V1 is its 360 degree detection capability.  The V1 not only tells you there is radar in the area, it tells you which direction the radar is coming from. A radar coming from the side is usually non-threatening and can be ignored.  The V1 tells you if the radar is ahead or behind you.  Because of its excellent detection range, you have ample opportunity to adjust your speed if required.  The sensitivity of the V1 picks up the faintest instant on radar before you get into detection range. In addition to its positional capability, the V1 dis[plays the number of radar threats.  Many juristictions use multiple radar units.  The V1 will tell you if this situation exists.  For example, the display might tell you there are 2 units ahead.  As you pass the first the display will change from 2 ahead to 1 ahead and 1 behind.  This is an important feature that will prove its usefullness many times over.    Another important feature of the V1 is its invisibility to radar detector detectors.  These are being used increasingly by juristictions that do not allow radar detectors in vehicles.  Current detector detectors do not pick up the signals from the V1. One very useful feature of the V1 is the optional remote display.  The remote display can be mounted so that it is not visible to outside observers.  The remote positioning also reduces the possibility of reflection in the vehicles glass, which can be a distraction at night.  The display on the main unit and the remote can both be dimmed for use during hours of darkness.  To sum up, the extended range of the V1, its positional display along with a display of the number of tradar units in use, and the remote display capability make this the best radar detector available today.  While others may claim to have the best range and sensitivity, independent tests show the Valentine One maintains its supremacy in this regard.  While more expensive than some others, the Valentinme One will pay for itself the first time it allows you to avoid an expensive speeding ticket and the increase in your insurance rates. The Valentine One is not available from dealers.  It can be purchased only directly from the manufacturer.  The manufacturer also will upgrade your older model with all the features of the newest model.  This ensures that the detector will not become obsolete as new technologies arise.  In today's economy, this canm be an important consideration.  Once you use a Valentine One, you'll never be sdatisfied with any other radar detector.

I've actually owned two of these.  The older thicker version and the slimmer version.  It is definitely the radar detector to buy if you have the money.  The arrows are hands down the most important feature that differentiates this from the others.  It makes it so much less stressful when you don't have to worry about WHERE the radar is coming from. As far as performance, it picks up K and Ka very well.  X is not used here so can't comment on that.  Driven through several laser traps and not a blip since I was proabably not a target.   All radar detectors won't help you with laser though. False alarms are the one thing that is not the best with the V1, even with X band turned off.  Lots of false warnings with K and Ka through the metropolitan areas.  I did get some false laser alerts every once in awhile too.  I'm not sure if it's from these new LED lights on cars. Customizing the unit was not the most user friendly compared to other detectors like Bel and Escort.  I had to use the cheat sheet from their website to remember how to even get into customize mode and then to figure out what all the codes mean and how to change them. Even with some of the minor annoyances of the V1, it is my favorite one so far, mostly due to having the arrows.  Couldn't live without them!

I do not leave for a trip without this one. I have it for 10 years, and it is my best friend. For a girl with Porsche and BMW M3 there is no way to go with "legal" speed. let me tell you something - I do not have any speed tickets!Actually i got one, when i sent the radar detector to repair ( for free!!!). I wasn't even speeding that much - why would I do it without my buddy? I tried Escort - but i was missing arrows poining to the signal - when you got used to them, you need those!!! This thing is a MUST if you have performance car and want to use it "properly"

This is a case of "you get what you pay for." Yes you can find a cheaper radar detector, yes if you speed you will probably get a ticket at some point. The next best thing to not speeding is the V1, when distance and time seperate you from a ticket or a clean record the V1 proves itself everytime. If it saves you from 1 or 2 tickets it pays for itself.

I've had my V1 for more than 10 years.....Mounted in 6-7 different vehicles ranging from my motorcycle to my RV and everything in between.  The V1 has paid for itself ten times over in "warning" me of impending "situations".  Three thumbs up for the Valentine One.  Cream of the crop.

This radar is amazing! it decects so far away and has so many options. i just learned about this one and im going out tomorrow to get it! Everyone out there BUY THIS ONE! For christmas im getting my whole family one. each individule person! Now nobody should speed  but for those long family vacations this is a great device to have!! im sure it will save me and you a ticket or two! and that was a ryme just for you! lol BUY IT!

Valentine 1 radar and laser detector. I have owend many over the years. This one has the best range and 360 degree coverage. A lot of cool feathures and the software can be updated over the internet. Most inmportant is that it has great range even around curves. Drive safely and defensively but don't drive fast without one of these.

There are tons of Radar Detectors out on the market these days. The question is: Which one do you buy?There are cheap ones and expensive ones. There are some things in life that cheaper is better. Radar Detectors are not one of those things! The more you spend the better off you are!The Valentine One is a state of the art Radar Detector. It can sense radar from the front, back and sides and tell you exactly where it is. It shows X, K, Ka and Laser. It can detect from miles down the road. Which gives a speeder enough time to slow down when needed. Cheaper radar detectors can only sense what's in front of them. They also only detect about 0.5miles away. Which is not enough time to slow down. No one should ever completely rely on a Radar Detector. For example, the one limit of the Valentine One is that while it detects laser it can only do so when you're getting hit with laser. In order to be hit with laser the police officer must be able to reflect if off something on your car such as a license plate or a head light. This means that if you're getting hit with laser you are probably going to get a ticket. The only thing to protect against laser is a laser scrambler. Other than that the Valentine One is a phenomonal Radar Detector. It is very easy to install, set up and use. There are different modes to use, however I suggest logic mode. That is when it is working the best. It also comes with volume control. If you're blaring the music, you can turn up the volume. Also, you can mute the sound of a booey. Such as if you're coming upon a store that uses radar to detect people coming in and out, the detector will go off. You can simpyly press the volume button to mute the sound of it.By far however, one of the BEST features is not the detector itself. No its the company that makes it. See because it is a more expensive model, in some areas it may get stolen. This hasn't happened to me yet. If it is stolen the person will need to call the company for the hardware to install it. When you call in, you can ask for the needed materials for free, you give them the part number, no problem. However, if the person you stole it from has registered it and it has in fact been stolen, the company knows this. They will not hint anything. They will simply finish the conversation. Send out the materials and then send out the local police. The next day the police will show up and confiscate the stolen product and return it. This is a very highly recommended device by me. Since owning it I have only gotte one speeding ticket, with laser hit. I have had it for a few years though and have gotten hit many numerous times but this has saved my bottom many times over!As always drive safe, and don't feel that just because you own a radar detector that you're safe. You're not, they will get you one way or another!
