Terrible service

1

Never come when they say they are going to. Still have weeds in my entire yard despite repeat sprays, claimed they sprayed the lawn but didn't leave any written notification or lawn stake warning us that pesticides were sprayed exposing the entire family and pets to poison. Will never use again and would NEVER recommend this company.

Products may work but we won't know.

We called and signed up for their service after their 3rd mass mailing of spring offers. We paid upfront for lawn service, a tree and shrub application and seasonal grub killer. After a week and a half when we hadn't heard from anyone I called what was supposed to be the local, Franklin, MA, office and got switched directly to the corporate phone bank. I said that we hadn't heard from anyone in regards to when the first service would be applied and when we would meet with the soil sampler and/or local rep to discuss how and when things would be happening. The 'clerk' said that she was sending the local a rep a note and that we should hear from them in the next day or 2. When that didn't happen I called back and asked again when our service was going to start. This 'clerk' said that she would arrange for us to get the trearment the next day. I worked from home and when the tech. showed up he said that he was only responsable for applying the lawn care product. I showed him an area that a skunk had been grubbing at and he said that the grub product that we were signed up for was what the put down in the summer as a preventative. He booked me for the grub killer product for an extra charge and said that someone would be out in a day or 2 because he didn't have any mixed on his truck. He had no idea when someone would be out to do a test sample of our lawn. 3 days later we came home and found that the grub application had been done. I thought it was odd that just 3 seperate spots in our yard had yellow warning tags. Still no call from the Franklin office. A week later we came home and found a note that the tree and shrub application had been done. Still no call from the franklin office. That following Saturday while doing some gardening near the side of our house we found 35+ grubs in a 4' X 12' area of the lawn htat we were expanding a flower bed into. The next morning we woke up to a shredded lawn because the local skunk had smelled all the grubs we killed and came looking for more. I called TrueGreen's number and got their answering service. I left a clear and precise note about needing a retreatment asap. They told me I would hear from someone within 24 hours. When I finally called them on Weds after work I was told that they hadn't received any message. I stated that we needed to get retreated asap since the skunk was tearing up the lawn nightly since we had shown it where the best pickings were. Friday after work I called back and asked why we hadn't been retreated yet and was told that we were scheduled that day. The 'clerk' was busy typing away and said that someone would call us right back or the next morning at the latest. Yet again, no call. When I got home Monday and there was still no sign of TruGreen I called them up and fired them. The 'clerk' offered to have someone from the office call me right back. I told her it was too late and that I didn't believe her anyway as no one had ever called me back for anything since we had signed up. I kept her on the phone until she had processed our refund for the treatments that hadn't been done. I wanted to ask for half of the extra grub treatment charge, but decided I didn't want to waste any more of my life talking to the LieGreen Lawn Care specialists.

A Rip Off

I used TruGreen when I first moved into my home. They have a good sales pitch. However, I had half of an acre of a yard and when they would come, they would only spray the front and never the back yard. One day, they just rang the doorbell and left. Since I knew it was impossible for them to actually spray my front yard in such a short time, I wondered if they sprayed at all. I had signed up for 6 treatments. My yard still had weeds in it and I was not satisfied. I knew I had been ripped off. So I say to anyone, if you ever use this company, make sure when they come to spray your yard that you are at home to actually come outside and watch them. Only pay for the amount of treatments that you got. I also wondered if they watered down the chemicals that they sprayed in my yard. I felt that I only got maybe three or four treatments and the rest was bogus. I would be very skeptical to use them at this time.

Can I give negative stars?

In June 2009, Tim from TruGreen came out and gave us a quote for 1 year's worth of service. This estimate included 1 lime treatment and 7 fertilizations. We agreed to pre-pay for the 1 lime and 7 fertilizations. In Feb 2010, we received a bill for a lime treatment. I called to ask why I was receiving a bill since I had pre-paid for 1 year. They explained they had put lime on my yard in June and again in Feb. Why? You should only put lime on your yard once per year. They agreed and said they would remove the charge. I kept receiving bills for the lime treatment. I kept calling back and was continually told that the charge would be removed. I started getting bills from collection agencies for this lime application. Finally, after about 6 bills and 6 calls, the charge was removed. Then, I started receiving a bill for a fertilization. You have to be kidding me! This was in April of 2010. So, again, I called and called and called. I was told that the charge would be removed. This week, I received 2 letters from 2 different collection agencies on the charge for this fertilization. Today, I spoke to 2 different people at TruGreen. It turns out that they put fertilizer on my yard 8 times in 10 months time! That includes the winter! Crazy! And, they want me to pay them for the 8th application. Have you ever heard of any lawn company applying fertilizer 8 times in 10 months? That is every 6 weeks all winter long....Seriously? So, I am now waiting for a manager to call me back. However, Emanuel, the second employee I spoke with today, can't tell me his manager's name or give me any time frame in which the manager will be calling me back. I am serious. Can you imagine? I asked him 2 or 3 times, "You don't know your manager's name?" Wonderful customer service...insane.
