When I first decided to try lip stains the only product I used would be Body Shop lip stain. I absolutely loved the sheer, but darkening color. I am extremely pale and have very dry lips and was sick of finding the "right" color and also having the stickiness of lipstick or thick gloss. I decided to try the body shop lip stain on a whim during a sale and for the most part I was happy about it. The color lasted and I could make it so it wasn't too dark for my lips since it had a sheer tint to it. After about 2-3 weeks worth of use I started noticing the cap to my stain getting extremely red and the stain would leak all over my makeup bag and onto my makeup, including my brushes. I used to clean the cap with a Q-tip but no matter how often I cleaned it there were always issues with it leaking. I thought perhaps the container was defective so I tossed it and bought a new one and the same thing happened. I didn't like the pattern that was developing but was too afraid to branch out and try a new product so this remained my go-to no matter how messy it was (and it was MESSY-- I couldn't use it without getting it all over my hands) until I finally tried a few other brands that I liked much better. I still use this product from time to time if I am looking for that familiar shade but it is a very messy and hard to handle product at times. The color is nice but it honestly isn't worth the hassle when other companies offer mess free versions of the same thing.

I am always in a hurry and putting on tons of make up is not ideal for me. I opted for a two in one product and turned out to be The Body Shop cheek and lip-stain. It is very easy for me to use in the morning and reapply if needed. Its the size of a chap-stick, so I can simply put it into my jacket pocket or my purse. The color goes on very smooth and gives cheeks a nice flush of color which I love most because it looks natural because I have fair skin. I was worried that this product would clog my pores but it did not so yay for this product. The cheek stain last all day for me until I wash it off which is a good thing because I am way to busy to sit there and reapply my make up throughout the day.  I used it on the lips but my bottom lip color always seems to have more color than my top lip ( maybe i am not applying it correctly). This product did dry out my lips a little bit. So after I put on the lip-stain I add some chap-stick to keep it moisturized. After eating and drinking the lip-stain does wear away a little bit but not enough to see a difference.

In October 2007, a freak winter storm unexpectedly hit the Buffalo, NY area, causing major property damage and widespread, long-term power outage. For nearly two weeks my husband and I rotated among friends who kept us overnight while our house was too bone-chilly for comfort, and my possessions were limited to what I could carry in a tote bag. In amongst a wad of wash-and-wear black clothes I had my Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain and it was a little bit of pretty during a really ugly time. I had been a fan of the stain for several years, having been introduced to it during a Christmas work stint many seasons before the storm. I was sure glad to have it during those few weeks away from home! It makes a very natural flush on the cheeks, like I just went on a nice brisk walk on a cool day. As a lip color it is far more sheer than it looks in the tube, and wears very well. During the cleanup time I often put the stain on in the morning, went to eat at one of the few places open for business, and would then go to shovel snow or haul wood from fallen trees. Not once did the color fade from the cheeks, nor streak, and on the lips it wore off very evenly. Back in my home after a few weeks it the Body Shop Lip and Cheek Stain became a weekend staple and a summer mainstay, and remains so. I continue to be highly impressed by the lasting wear of the product, and find it an excellent value for the money as well as a morale booster!

I have tried this and many other Body Shop products and while I have fallen in love with many of the products this one, not so much.  It does give your cheeks and lips some additional color but you have to continue to add a lot of product to even notice the additional color.  I think for the average morning: hurry up let's get out the door, make up routine it doesn't save enough of your time to worth the trouble.  If, however, you were going out on the town and have extra time to get ready and play with make up you should put this in your routine because it will leave you some color on your lips when your lipstick begins to wear off.  It is also not as drying as some of the long lasting lip sticks can be.  It would've been nice if they had other color selections.  The crimson color this lip/cheek stain comes in looks good for night-time but a bit too intense for ME during daytime.  While I love the idea of an all in one lip and cheek color that comes in a stain form, I'm almost afraid to use this color on my cheeks.  On lips it looks okay but on the cheeks, it's a bit too red for my taste.  If you're wanting a more subtle, natural look, one coat is all you need.  For cheek application, I found it easier to first dab it on and blend with my fingers.  The color is also buildable if you prefer a more dramatic pigment but for me, this stain is better suited for nightime use.
