Stainless steel appliances are all the rage right now. I was watching a home make-over program, and the host noted that stainless steel would have added more value on resale of the home. The make-over group had gone with white.

I bought my refrigerator before stainless really took off. My old refrigerator conked out. I really liked the look of the stainless. My other appliances are cream colored, so I must confess that my kitchen does not match. But, I'll go stainless with other items as they need replaced.

Old stainless really showed marks like fingerprints. That was one concern I had when I saw the lovely Whirlpool stainless at Lowe's. The sales guy assured me that the stainless today is smudge resistant. He really convinced me. We have some problems with things like smudges around here with two boys, a dog, cat, 2 birds and fish. The fish doesn't really smudge things, but the rest . . . you can imagine I'm sure.

Lowe's hauled my refrigeratore right over and hooked it up. Ah joy! I was most proud, which I know to be a sin.

Later in the day, I walked in the kitchen. There were handprints all over the refrigerator. EKKKK! I could not imagine how all those prints got on there in one afternoon.

This called for a family conference. The boys confessed that they had decided to test out the refrigerator and those claims of smudge resistant. Boys! Gotta love 'em.

The boys had the honor of wiping off the prints. Fair is fair.

Don't let my story put you off. Stainless really is smudge resistant. That doesn't mean you can't smudge stainless. You can if you try really hard with sticky fingers and mash and mash all over the stainless. My boys proved that.

After that first day, there have been no issues with prints. Sure. There will, from time to time, be little marks. They wipe off very easily.

A friend from Lowe's also gave me a good tip that further helps. He said to spray just a little tad of WD40 spray on the stainless. Wipe that in. It helps prevent almost all smudges.

I'm glad I did go with stainless. I'm glad all those marks came off and that the stainless really didn't show every little mark. Mine still looks brand new after a couple of years - or it does if I swipe it quickly. I look forward to buying more stainless steel. It's easier to keep up than the cream appliances and has a great, modern look.

Thanks for the tip. I will look for the Euro Cloth. Sounds great.

Google a product called "Euro-Cloth" used in conjunction with the "Stainless Steel Cutback Solution" they call it a "Euro-Cloth Carekit" I tell you its the absolute best for cleaning stainless steel! Better yet after you cut the surface back you only use COLD WATER to maintain that showroom finish! No Chemicals! I use it and love it!!

I should let you borrow them for a couple of days (-:

Actually they are great guys. Fingerprinting my new refrigerator is about as bad as they get usually. Thank goodness!
