Soft & Beautiful Ultimate Relaxer is a good relaxer for women of color. It has a triple hydration oil that works really great. It leaves the hair soft and moisturized, not dried out. The hair looks really healthy. It doesn't have the long lasting lingering ordor of processed hair. My hair didn't seem to have as many split-ends after the relaxer started to age on my hair. Just like the product claims, it has more protection against hair breakage. I like this relaxer overall, it did make my hair feel silkier than usual. It's very inexpensive, too. I would definitely use it again. And I absolutely recommend it!

I was hoping I like this product but the product wasn't a quality relaxer. First off, I really want to say that the product dried out my hair completely making it look dull and lifeless. I thought that it was suppose to make my hair soft and straight. But my hair like I said was dull. What I'm guessing is that maybe the chemicals in the perms made it like this. This was my first relaxer so of course I wasn't familiar with good quality relaxers. But I did read the instructions carefully and thoroughly but the results weren't what I was inspecting. Even though relaxers are supposed to make your hair straight mines was still a little bit curly. So instead of have bone straight hair I have waves which looks really weird. Left it on the time it said to leave it on but i guess it wasn't strong enough. So now my hair has a straight texture but looks wavy. So my advice if you're going to get a perm get one that actually works!

This relaxer proved itself to be not only great for my hair's looks, but it also provided healthy protection from the chemicals necessary to give me the straightened hair I wanted. With the release of the Chris Rock documentary, "*Good Hair*," the use of chemical hair relaxers by black women has gotten a bad rap (undeservedly, I might add). Somewhere in the midst of extreme tales of women burning their hair to the point of breakage, and burning their scalps to scabby pulps in the pursuit of bone-straight, non-black hair, he missed the vast majority of us who use hair relaxers responsibly.
**Soft & Beautiful Ultimate Protection Hair Relaxer**
I'm pretty low maintenance, so I don't visit a salon very often. That means I need a relaxer kit that is easy to use in my own bathroom. Soft & Beautiful gives me beautiful results at an incredible price, and comes with everything you need in a box. Like most relaxers, Soft & Beautiful has a no-lye, creamy conditioning base. It does contain chemicals, however, so it is imperative to follow all instructions religiously.
**Step One:** After you've done the allergy and strand tests, simply add the *Liquid Activator* and *Triple Hydration Oil* to the *Relaxer *base and stir thoroughly. The triple hydration oil is key to getting good results without damage or breakage.
**Step Two:** Apply to "new growth only" and only apply if scalp is free of scratches or abrasions. Leave on according to hair type (for me, it's 10 - 12 minutes).
**Step Three:** Rinse well and wash out with *Color Code Neutralizing Decalcifying Shampoo*. Unlike other brands, this shampoo smells great and really softens hair. The suds start out pink and then turn white when all traces of relaxer have been washed away. It's important to use *this* shampoo (not your regular one) because it brings the pH of your hair back to normal.
**Step Four**: Condition with *HMC* (Hair Moisturizing Complex Post Relaxer Treatment). I LOVE this conditioner and wish you could just buy it alone. It leaves my hair so soft, moisturized, and detangled.
The relaxer kit also includes a *Leave-In Conditioner*, but I never use it. I simply style my hair as usual with my favorite leave-in moisturizer.
In my opinion, hair relaxing is no more traumatic than dyeing or bleaching hair. If you are careless getting your hair bleached or highlighted, you can suffer burns and breakage in the same way as if you're careless with relaxers. I've been using the Soft & Beautiful brand of relaxer every 8 - 10 weeks for years and have never suffered scalp burns or hair breakage. My hair isn't stick-straight, but then, that's not my goal. My goal is to have hair that looks and feels healthy, manageable, soft, and strong. **Soft & Beautiful Ultimate Protection Hair Relaxer** makes it possible for me to reach my hair goals.
