Snappi diaper fasteners are a regular part of our diapering routine.  I have used the smaller size with great success from newborn to toddler.  I tried the toddler size and discovered it was just too big for our slim kids.  Snappi suggests that you get new Snappis every six months because they will stretch out and become ineffective, but honestly I have never experienced this.  I have been using the same five Snappis for three years and they are still working well, still stretching and grabbing the cloth easily but they are not stretched out.  They can be put on very quickly, a must for diapering a wiggly toddler.  The only downside is that they are sharp, but so are pins - you have to be careful that you don't poke your baby with them.  However, that is pretty easy with common sense.  I have recommended these to other moms interested in cloth diapers.  I use them with prefolds, however you can also use them with contours.  Any diaper that needs fastening.  Love them!

I purchased the Snappis dieaper fasteners to use with my diaper service quality prefold diapers and plastic diaper covers.

My expectation was that the Snappi would firmly attach to the diaper and not come free.

The actual experience was not the way I had expected.  What happened is that frequently the "teeth" of the Snappi would not stay anchored in the prefold and the diaper would come unfastened.  In a worst case scenario, once the Snappi was unfastened the "teeth" would brush agains my son's delicate skin and cause him discomfort.  After a few annoying attempts to use the Snappis I resorted to using plain diaper pins.

Additionally, the instructions that I received indicated that I should stretch the Snappis several times to help make them flexible enough to fasten the diaper, but the material was so stiff that it was a very difficult thing to get the material to flex enough to grip the diaper effectively.

Ultimately I ended up purchasing the Econobum economy diaper covers and laying the prefolds inside as inserts.  I found that worked much better.

So much better than pins

By

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

Love these, an incredible improvement over pins!! They were what sealed the deal to convince my husband to use cloth diapers. A little pricey for a small piece of plastic, yes, but so worth it. They last a long time (unless you are testing your strength on them.)

Absorbency
I don't think Snappis are supposed to be absorbant? But they do prevent leaks!

Excellent diaper fasteners

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

Snappis really take a load off of the minds of cloth diapering parents. Decades ago, parents had to rely on safety pins to keep the diapers on their children - no more of that! Snappis ensure that the diaper will stay put and stay fitted without risking any injuries to baby or yourself.

Ease of Use
Snappis are very easy to use. Even better, they make it very easy to adjust how the diaper fits, which is especially helpful if your child needs a more customized fitting.

Leak Prevention
Because the Snappi can help you to create a perfect, custom cloth diaper fit for your child, leak prevention is at its highest.

Comfort
Because the Snappi is so easy to use, there is no need to rush a diaper change or get flustered. This ensures that parents can create a perfect fit for their baby's needs every time, which in turn ensures ultimate comfort levels.

Absorbency
Though the Snappi itself is not an absorbent tool, it assists in making sure the cloth diapers stay fitted and put together.

A great alternative to pins!

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

I absolutely love these things! They're easy to use and aren't a scary as using sharp pins. Great for first time parents and people looking into cloth diapers for the first time. They take out a lot of the guess work.

Ease of Use
I highly recommend reading the directions and possibly watching a couple of you tube videos before using these the first time. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. But if you don't break in the Snappi before the first use, then you'll have issues.

Leak Prevention
These hold my pre folds and flats on tight to ensure that I have no issues with leaking.

Comfort
These stay on tight and keep things from falling off of my little one. There's also nothing rubbing against her skin of poking her. These are so much better than old fashioned pins. I don't have to worry about a pin coming undone and stabbing her.

Absorbency
These keep diapers on nice and snug so you don't have to worry about diapers falling off and leaking everywhere.

Better than safety pins, but takes a while getting used to them.

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

When my daughter was a couple of months old, we decided to start cloth diapering. We tried out several styles of diapers, including prefolds and flats. We tried Snappi Diaper Fasteners out during this time. They definitely take some getting used to. I always had trouble hooking them. They are Y-shaped, and you have to pull them and hook them to whatever diaper you are using. I never felt like I was fastening them properly or that they were not tight enough. They did hold the diaper on though, so I guess they worked! :) We ended up going with other styles of diapers that have snaps, so we didn't need Snappis. I'm sure if we had used them more, we probably would have liked them better. They are definitely better than the old-school diaper pins! :)

Ease of Use
They take a while getting used to. You have to pull them tight to hook them.

Comfort
The little claw things that grab the diaper kind of hurt if they poke you. I always worried that they were uncomfortable for my baby, if she was on her belly. I didn't know if she could feel it.

LIFE SAVER for moms using prefold diapers.

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

These are amazing. When I first looked into cloth diapering I thought "OH theres no way I can do this.. Safety pins are dangerous. Theres no way I'm putting those on my baby" Then I found snappis. I love these. They keep the diaper much tighter on baby then safety pins do. I wouldn't have used prefold diapers without these. DEFINITELY RECCOMMEND. :)

Pull, pull, pull, and go!

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

I love the Snappi. It makes cloth diapering 100x easier than I could have ever imagined! I originally thought there was no way I could ever do the diapers my grandma used, but here I am exclusively using flats and prefolds now. No need to ever worry about poking your precious baby with pins!

It is super simple to use. You literally just pull the tabs out to each side, it catches and grips on it own. It also has an extra loop of silicone on the edge above the "teeth" that can be pulled down and around to cover them up. An excellent safety feature for when it's not in use.

They come in a nice selection of colors, which is nice for those who have older babies, so they can choose whatever color they want.

If you're even considering cloth diapering, these and a few flats are or prefolds are a must have. Even Dad can do it!

Ease of Use
Takes about 3 seconds tops to put on.

Leak Prevention
It definitely helps hold the diaper where it should be!

Invaluable!

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

These are so simple to use and work great at keeping pre-folds and pre-fitteds on. I love them. We used these exclusively with our kids when they were in prefolds. Never had a leak and they never came lose. With older babies they will require a cover because the baby can pull them off but otherwise they're perfect! We love Snappi

Ease of Use
Very simple to use, can do it one handed.

Leak Prevention
Makes a very tight gusset around the thighs, keeps everything inside the diaper where it belongs.

Comfort
No pins so no risk of poking baby!

Absorbency
The absorbency depends on the diaper, snappis are not diapers they hold diapers on.

With Snappis, I don't have to worry about pinpricks

By

from Somerville, MA

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

When we decided to cloth diaper, my biggest concern was sticking the baby (and to a lesser extent, myself) with a diaper pin. As I started to research, I learned about snappis, and was sold immediately.

These are a fantastic product for the cloth diaperer who doesn't want to use pins, but want to make sure that the prefold diaper is well-fastened to avoid leaks into the diaper cover - or worse OUT of the diaper cover.

They stretch fairly easily, allowing you to get a snug hold on the diaper without making it too tight. They're easy to clean and easy to use. The teeth are a bit sharper than I'd like sometimes, but I still prefer them to having a pin in the diaper, since the teeth are so shallow that they don't penetrate much deeper than the surface of the diaper - just enough to hold it in place.

The only problem that I've experienced is that the loop by the teeth (the "teeth guard", which is also the most convenient way to tug the snappi to the side) has a tendency to break after regular use. But, we do get more than a month of life out of each snappi on average, which is pretty good considering that they are in constant use.

A non-scary alternative to pins

By

from Greensburg, PA

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

I have to admit that I was really scared of pins when I first decided to use cloth diapers when I was pregnant with my second child. I had heard of snappies before, and knew that I would much rather try them then risk hurting my baby with pins. Other than that,  I didn't know much about cloth diapering at first, then my friend, who cloth diapers as well, explained the basics to me and demonstrated (on a doll) how to use a snappi and I couldn't beleive how easy and fast it was once I tried it. I have 2 snappies that I use on my newborn and they work great with our prefolds. I haven't yet tried them on any other type of diaper though. I also love the fact that they will never rust, unlike pins. I have read that they should be replaced after 6 months, but also know moms who have used the same one for years without any problems.

Overall, I very much recommend using snappies with your cloth diapers. They are an easy, cheap, long lasting alternative to pins.

You Needn't Fear Your Mother's Cloth Diapering Challenges!

By

from Biloxi, MS

Comments about Snappi Cloth Diaper Fastener:

Snappi fasteners are a wonder of modern technology - replacing the diaper pins mama had to use.

As you are diapering your little one, you just stretch the Snappi to grab the diaper and hold it together.  It's super quick (even easy to do with a squirmy baby!), and easy to customize the fit on the fly.

The material is easy to clean, and long lasting.  Snappi recommens replacing the fasteners periodically, due to possible degradation.  I confess that I have not done so - and my same Snappis are now on their second baby, and three years of service.

Snappis are wonderful on prefolds, terry, knit/jersey fabrics, and most other common diapering fabrics.  There are a few things (most commonly heard - flannel), which are too smooth and dense to allow the Snappi to get a grip.

The teeth are sharp, so obviously common sense must be used to avoid hurting the baby, but this is actually far less dangerous than old-fashioned pins.
