DO NOT BUY My oven turned itself on

1

I've had this oven for years, and just this month it decided to turn itself on. With no indication that it was on. So, out of no where it turned itself on and wouldn't turn off. It happened sometime during the day before I noticed. Like the whole household slept while the oven was just on. Cooking nothing. I only noticed because I went to dry hand off after washing them, I'm one of those that hang the dishtowel on the oven bar thing. I felt heat. It was weird, I started looking at the dials and they were all off. Then I started feeling the burners, all off. Then I opened the oven door and a gush of hot air hit me. I rechecked the dial, it still said off. I turned it on and off again and it was still blasting heat. I had to pull out the whole stove and unplug it from the wall to turn it off. I've never had something like that happen. It scared the life out of me. Imagine if we didn't notice, or the hand towel caught in the door and caught fire, what if I was on vacation or something. The house would have burned down. That's just so scary to me. Do not waste your money or risk your families lives with this oven.

Basic Stove

3

I have had this stove for five (5) years since moving in to my new house. It is a basic stove without fancy features. It accommodates our small kitchen and heats evenly. Easy to clean and simple to operate. What I like most about this stove is that, while it is compact, it has a standard size cook top that accommodates large stew pots, and the adjustable interior racks accommodate even large turkeys! The broiler is a nice feature that I've just recently begun to use. Temperature Control Easily able to obtain proper temperature. Preheats quickly. Heat Distribution Heats evenly on stovetop and in oven. Durability Durable enough for a full turkey! Design This is a simple, basic stove. It has a simple, basic design. Ease of Cleaning Cleans well.

Roper range is mediocre

3

We didn't actually purchase this unit, but it was placed in our rental home by the landlord as a brand new unit just before we moved in. I have to say that I am not impressed. The stove top works great. I haven't ever had a problem with overheating, or not heating enough, etc. It's very responsive to temperature change and adjusts quickly when both raising and lowering temperature on the eyes. They also heat up very quickly. The oven, however, is not impressive. You have to cook everything at 25 degrees lower than recommended or you will burn it, and sometimes it still burns. It's a temperamental oven that seems to have a mind of its own, and you cannot expect consistent performance from it at all. We've had someone take a look at it, and all elements of the stove and oven are working correctly, so the problem is not with a busted part, but rather with the design of the range itself.

Roper FES330 Electric Range if you see it, RUN AWAY!

1

*Roper FES330 Electric Range is not a stove that I would recommend to anyone. We had this stove briefly before replacing it. It worked fine for a couple of months and then we noticed that the red light that shows that the one of the burners were on was lit up. However, none of the burners were on. We had to flip the switch in our circuit breaker to cut the stove off to make sure that it wouldn't start a fire. After about a week or so, the light decided to go off on it's own and start working regularly. That was our first problem. Our second problem is that while I was cooking, on one of the front burners, the burner's hot surface cracked and shot blue sparks into the air. Again, I had to take off running and shut it off using the circuit breaker before it caught our house on fire. So we ended up junking it after a couple of months use. So, if you see one of these, run the other direction!*

OK Stove, Bad Oven

2

Price and simplicity were the main reasons why I bought the Roper electric range and I regret so much about this decision. In the first few months, everything works fine. The stove was easy to use and clean. The diagrams above the control knobs clearly showed which knob belongs to which. I didn't even need to read the user manual. There was also a red light to signal when the stove is on so that you won't forget to turn it off before you go out. Everything was fine until I tried to use the oven. I found that I could not turn on both the top and bottom set of heating wires at the same time. In other words, I could only choose to turn on either the top or the bottom heating wire, not both! This caused a big problem because the heat was so uneven that I had to go through two baking cycles for each thing. The result was pretty bad because I still don't know how to balance the two cycles to get the same "browning" effect on both sides. In addition, the oven doesn't have a window, so I had to open the door to peek in everything and the heat caused discomfort to my eyes. If you just need a stove, this is a bargain. If you a heavy-baker, I would suggest you pick other brand or style.
