Beware of Shopping at RedTagCrazy

1

RedTagCrazy (RTC) is an ODAT site with features such as chat, customer written blogs, and store credit incentives for promoting the site. For a short time, it was a fun place to shop and the bargains were amazing. RTC once had a number of loyal customers and frequent chatters who actively promoted the site. I was one of them. Unfortunately, the good times are over. The majority of the merchandise being sold at the present time is either second quality, damaged, and/or returned in unsaleable condition or it is discount store brand goods at a price that could easily be found at a discount store. If you buy something from RTC and are unsatisfied for any reason, you must pay return shipping and you will only be given store credit to use on a future purchase. There are no refunds to credit cards for any reason. This is a new policy that was part of the exciting changes customers were recently told to expect. I am speaking out here at Viewpoints, because I am not able to convey this message on their site. I, along with a large and quickly growing numbers of once loyal customers, have been blocked from making comments in chat and due to moderation, blog comments are removed before they are published if they are viewed as negative towards RTC. When we tried to voice complaints on chat, we were told that chat was going to be suspended. Many chatters wanted a way to continue communication with each other and were posting their email addresses. I stayed on chat, for the purpose of assuring these people that an email would be sent to them with information about another site where we could speak freely. This is why I was blocked. Here is a copy of the email I got from RTC as an explanation... Hello, Your recent comments on redtagcrazy.com have been viewed as combative in nature and your participation in "Chick Chat" suspended until we areassured that you would like to participate according to our posted guidelines. This does not affect other services in any way. Our goal is to foster a fun and supportive community primarily for the sake of product sizing, quality reviews, and designer interactions. We would be very happy to see you participate in this way and your status will be completely restored if you would agree to and follow our rules & guidelines. Please let us know if you have a direct question or issue that you would like us to address. Thank you, Customer Care www.redtagcrazy.com 1-866-608-1190 care@redtagcrazy.com I hope this review will help deter others from becoming RTC customers because there is very little chance of that being a satisfactory experience and it could easily become a nightmare. Consider yourself warned by someone who has nothing to gain by writing this review except the hopes of helping someone else not become a very disappointed consumer.

Sold damaged factory seconds, jeans covered in hair

1

SITE OWNER CAUGHT SHILLING ON, POSING AS A CUSTOMER: http://www.authenticforum.com/paige-jeans/121703-red-tag-crazy.html   After emailing RedTagCrazy about how unacceptable it was to receive a shirt with a large unfinished seam, pants that smell and have dog hairs on them, and a shirt with a hole in it, I was asked not to shop there anymore.I feel that they are misrepresenting their obviously damaged/Factory Second items and as new and undamaged. I was never told my items may have unfinished seams, holes or damage and nowhere on the website is this information displayed. Their FAQ says (http://redtagcrazy.com/help) that damaged items "should never happen" but I consistently have received items that are defective and damaged and this is clearly not conveyed to the consumer. The following is the email exchange between myself and the owner, where he has requested that I do not shop there because I wanted to return a damaged item:I sent:Hi,I bought a shirt from you guys and there's a big hole in it. What do I do? In addition, my Joe's Jeans Provocateurs were covered in dog hair and smell like mildew, and also my Zensei jacket has a seam of the pocket ripped out. I will have to pay to have the jeans dry cleaned and the seam repaired. This is unacceptable to send a dirty, smelly pair of pants to someone along with two damaged items.----Their response:Kristy,Please ship back the merchandise mentioned below and we will refund your credit card. I believe it may be best if we do not get involved in future transactions. I apologize for the inconvenience.Thank you,----Eric Ingram(760) 621-0859

It is a great new concept!

Red Tag Crazy is a great new concept that follows the same concept as other deal-a-day sites, but allows for more depth in the realm of Chic Chatting (talking to a befriending other shoppers). I love the clothes and deals, but even more, I love the people! The site has suffered some growning pains, which they are steadily working out, so I will reserve judgment on that realm until their first year is up. But I think the concept itself and the deals deserve fantastic merit!

Red Tag Crazy was awesome, then terrible, and now it's decent.

***Edit: October, 2010: This site is working hard to gain people's trust back. They usually have an employee online to answer questions and they have been having a lot of good sales and other fun things. The quality of their items isn't  always super high designer type these days but there are still some good deals to be had. They have added a feature where you can answer simple questions and make Red Tag Cash, anywhere from 3 cents to 50 cents per question. It's a fun way to get a little extra RTcash although it can halt the flow of the chick chat. In all, I rerated to 3 stars and have been shopping there again. They still have issues with overselling and some defective items but quality control has gone up. The site is different from when it started but better than when it all fell apart. I hope it continues to get better and better because some deals are really steals. 3 stars for now and more updates to come!*** ***Edit September 13, 2009: I wrote the review in May 2009. Since then, there have been many changes to the site which are I believe have brought down the overall quality of the shopping experience. While the discounts remain, prices have risen sharply and quality has lowered. The community, which was the best part of the site, is now heavily monitored and those who dare to say anything negative are banned without notice. Sometimes for no real reason at all. This has led to a drop off of chatting and fun times we once had as people are afraid to speak openly and never know when they will be banned. Many have complained of defective clothing which I have gotten myself, and others are upset by the sharp rise in prices. At this time, I can't recommend the site to you. It was an awesome experience for a while but now, I won't go back. I am going with 2 stars and will upgrade when and if the site becomes more stable, the quality rises, and I see positive changes. It's too bad because I once was the site's biggest fan!*** **This is the review I wrote before the changes:******** ***Quick View:*** If you long for designer clothes but can't or won't pay the ridiculously high prices that most stores sell those clothes for, **RedTagCrazy.com** is for you. This site sells high end designer clothing at a fraction of the full price and has a great community as well. ***About RedTagCrazy.com*** **Red Tag Crazy **is a website that sells one item of women's designer clothing every hour or until the item is gone. They also have times when they have speed sales where a new item pops up every few minutes and you have to grab an item as fast as you can to get the deal. I installed the **www.redtagcrazy.com** Firefox add on that has a little pop up when a new item is for sale. I can tell immediately if I want to look at it further or pass on it. They are also on Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook updating their sales. You can get email alerts as well as text ones. There are a host of ways to stay in touch with the site and know what's selling when. This site sells clothing from a host of designers like linQ, Joes jeans, Victoria Beckham's line, Cinc, Aude, Paige, Zlush, Cullen, Lucky Brand Jeans, and many more. Prices are discounted drastically, sometimes up to 90%. I have searched for items selling on the site and found them on other websites for more 75% higher than **Red Tag Crazy **was. The hitch is, there are limited sizes and colors and you have to grab your size/color FAST or lose your chance. Items often are offered several times, though. You just have to be there at the right time. You can buy one item for a shipping fee of $5.00 to $7.50 or you can opt to hold your cart for a week. Everything you buy within that week after the first is just 99 cents to ship. I love the online community. There are a group of women in "Chick Chat" on the site who know way more than I about the designers and they are so helpful and friendly. They often post pics of themselves wearing their buys so we can get an idea of what the items up for sale actually look like on a real person and that helps so much in decision making. There are blogs and contests as well and the staff often pops in and joins in on the conversations. The staff could NOT be more helpful or friendly. Returns are accepted on everything but "crazy deals" which will be marked as such. You will get Red Tag Cash back, which is credit toward other items on the site. The deals are just amazing. I can't believe that **RedTagCrazy.com** can even afford to sell these high end designer items at such low prices. It's an addictive site and one I am so glad I found. The clothing is perfect, not seconds or returns, and the site is run very, very well. The whole aura of the site is one of friendliness and like you're at a clothing show with a bunch of friends. They accepted me, the complete n00b, and taught me a lot about the designers, the fits, and how the site works. I find myself drawn to the site just to chat and drool over the clothes. And, of course, toss a great deal into my cart now and then. ***My Viewpoint*** You can't go wrong with **RedTagCrazy.com**. They have a large array of designer clothing that they sell and the savings are vast. Sure, it can get frustrating when something you love is sold out in your size or when something you don't love is posted and you have to wait 50 minutes for the next item but the savings are worth it. Install the toolbar and you won't have to even think about what's selling. You'll always know. I love the site and I love that I can actually afford designer clothes now! ***Was 5 stars, changed to 2 then changed to 3.*** *Extra Info: You can earn $5.00 for every friend you refer and that friend will also get $5.00 credit toward their first purchase by simply putting the person who referred you to the site's email address in the "promo code" space when signing up on the site. I avoided giving my email address because this is a review not a solicitation. You can also put up a link or widget on a blog or website for more Red Tag Cash.*

I found out about **RedTagCrazy** through Viewpoints. I'd had very positive experiences in the past online shopping at bargain sites like Gilt Groupe and Rue La La, so I thought it'd be worth giving RedTagCrazy a chance because the concept behind it intrigued me. Unlike other boutique sites, RedTagCrazy.com sells one item at a time. I should have been suspicious that I was not getting my money's worth before I bought my first item. **RedTagCrazy.com** sells many of the same brands I've seen on Gilt Groupe and Rue La La but at an even more severe discount. Typically, I find products on Gilt Groupe and Rue La La for 30-50% off. RedTagCrazy offers them for 50-90% off, and there's a reason! *Their products are damaged*. RedTagCrazy's FAQ section states that you should never receive a damaged item, yet I received four damaged items out of six total purchases (see attached pictures for a sample). I was able to return the items for a full refund, but that doesn't excuse sending multiple damaged items. I might be able to forgive one mistake, but four?! Additionally, **RedTagCrazy** shipped my second order to the wrong address. I moved right after placing my second order, so I made sure to email the appropriate contact at the site to notify them that I'd changed my address. I even physically updated my address on their website so their would be no confusion, and yet my package went to my old address. I requested a shipping refund, which I was given, but that doesn't excuse the fact that I had to go out of my way to pick up the package from my old address. I bet you're wondering why I even placed a second order, and what happened to my first order. Unfortunately, none of the items in my first order fit, but I took a second chance because that's an unforeseeable problem. I can't blame the company for my own mistakes, but I can blame them for selling me damaged items & shipping them to the wrong address! I do not recommend **RedTagCrazy.com**. They are still in business for a reason - because some people enjoy their clothes and their site - but it is not for me and I would never tell a friend to buy from them.

Great prices, fast shipping - no problems here.

I was pretty iffy on buying from RTC due to some of the other reviews here, but they were selling some great jeans for $20 and I decided to check it out for myself. Shipping was quick. The item was out the next afternoon and I received it within the week. The jeans do technically have a tag, but it's not the original tag. However, I do believe the jeans themselves are brand new - they're nice and crisp and have no signs of ever having been worn. There are no holes or defects that I noticed. Certainly no dog hair (or any kind of hair), and they smell fine. Given the other reviews, it looks like you are taking a chance by ordering here - but just from personal experience, RTC was great. I recently saw some of the admins on the message board talking about a new system where they were only posting items if they were actually in the warehouse and ready to ship, so hopefully the previous complaints about horrible shipping will be taken care of now. I have a bunch more items that were just shipped today that I got for up to 94% off, and I'm hoping RTC lives up to my newly established expectations.

I am obsessed with saving and this site has amazing deals. I've ordered over 85 things from this site in about a seven month period and have only ever had minor problems (FedEx, for instance, lost my shipment for abt five days - but the company helped find it). I've purchased everything from designer denim to your basic tank here and have been pleased with probably 98%. The items that don't work are nice, but either don't look right on me or are the wrong color. I have been saving them as xmas gifts. (sneaky but thrifty, and who would mind getting a pair of Red Engine jeans?) Unlike some of the other ladies who seem to only have negative experiences, mine have mostly been positive. The shopping is great. The only negatives to the ODAT format is that you often get struck viewing one item too long, or they don't have your size or you just miss the item you've been desperately trying to buy. But, these annoyances included, it's probably the site I frequent most often and the one I make a majority of my purchases from. I also love that you can get $ for referring the site to others. I was referred by a friend and I've already earned quite a bit from friends and if I wasn't so lazy - I could submit blogs about my shipments and earn even more. To me, it's a great way to see the clothes on someone other than a model. So far the sizing has been pretty diverse, but I have seen complaints from some of the ladies requesting larger sizes. The worst part about the site is also one of the best.  RTC offers a live streaming chat so you can discuss items with the other shoppers or ask the customer service team questions. The pros are obvious: real time help, chat and camaraderie. The cons, however, were less apparent when I first joined and I am sure were news to the RTC staff. They thought they had a novel approach to online shopping, but they were not ready for what it actually was - putting the power of the site into their shoppers' hands. Some of the shoppers apparently take their online shopping very seriously. They began to form cliques that eventually became very disheartening to the occasional shopper - or at least to me. Some felt they couldn't ask questions as it was like interrupting the "cool kids." They also took affront at the most harmless comments and escalated the minor to the major. As a silent bystander watching the whole thing, it was both very dramatic and entirely silly. It was like they were shopping martyrs or something. It was all very weird and not as amusing as it should have been. When the clique was full on complaining - RTC was quite an annoying place to be. Now that this is happening less and less, it's getting better. It seems to be getting back to normal. It would be a shame to have to eradicate the chat application because some people used it incorrectly. More deals - less BS, please. I'm here to shop.

Site had potential, but has gone WAY downhill

2

Updated September 14th, 2009:   I first started shopping on this site near the end of March, and was impressed by the quality of items, the low prices, and the exemplary service received. In recent months though, I feel that everything has changed for the worse, which is why I am editing my review now, two months after I first wrote it. I sincerely hope, by writing about my experiences, as well as my thoughts on what has been happening recently on the site, others will use caution before having dealings with this site. First, I want to make clear that it has not always been this way, that three months ago, I would have given a mostly positive review of this site and its offerings. The live chat feed (Chick Chat) was incredibly informative and entertaining, and I have been able to form lasting friendships with many of the other "regulars" on the site. I got help with clothing sizing and fit, as well as even for other topics. The staff were friendly, too, and were willing to offer advice on sizing and fit as well. However, things have drastically changed, especially in the past month. The items offered have gone down greatly in quality - most of the brands offered now can in no way be considered "designer" brands - I could easily find the same brands, for much better prices, on the clearance rack at KMart or at TJMaxx. The owner of the site, through his comments on the Chick Chat forum, has proved himself to be snarky, rude, and inconsiderate to the sizeable (formerly) loyal fan base that has built up over the past several months. I was part of this loyal fan base for a while, and stuck with them over the past couple months, even when I wasn't too happy with some of the changes that were implemented. I hoped that, with time, the owners and staff would realize that the site's offerings were no longer appealing, and would listen to customers and actually welcome constructive feedback. That turned out to be not the case, at all. Suggestions are not taken into account unless the site admin is also of the same opinion, and there are now apparently new policies that do not look kindly upon users from voicing honest opinions about the (lack of) quality of service that they have received. While I personally have not (yet) received any damaged goods, I have received some items (approximately five in 70 items purchased) that were of questionable quality - they were obviously factory "seconds" that had not passed quality control standards, as some items in different colors but of the same size and style fit differently. I chose to keep them and to take the loss, because returns are only issued store credit, and like I said, the recent selection has been unappealing to my tastes, such that the store credit will just sit there, unused. As of now, I still have some store credit that I will have to take the loss for. As someone who does not have much of a budget to waste on return shipping, I will keep these questionable items, but can only wear them as "disposable" clothing - clothing that I wouldn't put on to go out in public. I have wasted enough money on this site, and I will take it elsewhere to other sites that offer actual quality items, even if I have to pay a bit more. It's too bad, because this site had so much potential, and I was once a diehard fan. All of the decisions for the business that have been made in the past month especially, though, have eaten away at this potential, and have caused it to go downhill. And yes, while the majority of my items are of passable quality and price, I will not tolerate the  false statements about the integrity of the merchandise, their change of practices, the false promises of positive change, and the pushy and just plain inconsiderate manners of some of the staff have most definitely driven me away. Go look on the site if you wish, but be warned about all of this should you choose to make a purchase (or multiple purchases). For the brands offered on there at the prices they have set, you can find much, much better deals elsewhere if you perform a simple Google search. I have given this site way too many chances to improve, and each time it has failed miserably. I can no longer trust this site, and I will certainly no longer give it any more of my money, unless they can prove that they can be trusted once more. **Note: This review has been rewritten since I first posted it on July 28th. Due to some technical issue, I cannot change my recommendation (thumbs up/thumbs down). However, I would like to make clear yet again that I do NOT recommend this site.**

I dont trust this site as far as I can throw the owners

I have had nothing but troubles with Redtagcrazy.com.  When they started out, they were great.  They always put their best foot forward because they were a new business.  Now that they feel they have a solid foundation, the prices have skyrocketed, the customer service is non-existant, and the product quality is poor at best.  I suspect that they get seconds from the designers, which are flawed or damaged. On top of their poor service and goods, even if you buy something you aren't guaranteed to get it.  I have documented 5 occasions where I have been the first to purchase an item only to have it get 'canceled' from my order.  Strangely enough, people that order it weeks later get it. In addition, they pretend to have a system that pays store credit for blog cash.  That is not the case.  They told us that as long as the blog meets all the criteria, it will be published and paid for.  Now, after I have written several blogs, they decided that they don't want to pay for them any more and have decided to decline paying me for mine, and mine alone. Also, if you have a problem with the site, you are not allowed to voice it on the real-time chat displayed on the site.  If you say anything that can be even halfway construed as negative, they ban you from the site with no warning or notification.  I complained because I was being charged an additional $20 for shipping when I tried to buy an item when I was only supposed to pay $0.99.  Surprisingly, the next day, I was banned from talking on the website.  I can still give them my money, just not participate in any other way.  This has happened to upwards of 40 women. Do you think that I'm a special case?  Look at the other reviews.  Don't let them take advantage of you like they took advantage of me.

I was formerly a huge supporter of redtagcrazy.com (RTC) but now I can't in good faith give it a positive review.  This has nothing to do with my personal experiences with the products - I actually have loved almost everything I've purchased (Aude, linQ, Cullen, ZENsei, James Jeans, and Aristocrat denim are heavily featured in my wardrobe at the moment), and any defects were small, and on final sale items that I chose to keep instead of returning for site credit.  The company has always been very kind to reimburse for damaged or missing products, I will give them that.  I am also a fan of the shipping program - your first item is "full shipping price" and every item afterwards is only $0.99 - and you can keep a cart open until up to 20 items or 7 days after your most recent purchase, if I understand it correctly.  I think that is something great about RTC. So you're probably asking why I'm not giving a positive review.  Well, the problem at RTC isn't the products, it's the management.  In the past, the "chick chat" at the bottom of the screen has been a vibrant, growing community of shoppers from around the USA and Canada.  Now, many of those people are no longer permitted on the site to chat (they are allowed to shop still, but many have closed their accounts, understandably.)  The vibrancy and uniqueness of the site has been tarnished in my mind.  The owner has posted ridiculous rules and regulations for chatting, and went on a banning frenzy when anyone provided an opinion on price, the rules, or really anything, which resulted in the loss of several of the site's biggest cheerleaders.  The owner even went to far as to say that the customers were "going mad" and were spreading rumors and lies about the site. While that may be true, it is just bad business.  It seems that the owners and staff are not familiar with the term "the customer is always right" - I know I was when I worked in retail, and I wouldn't dream of telling a set of dissatisfied customers that they have gone crazy.  I would not have banned people for speaking their mind.  I would have organized a "summit" of sorts to be discussed offline.  I can understand why the company does not want their site and/or products badmouthed publically on their own forum, but silencing people is not the answer.  Opening a different type of dialog is.  It's just bad business, if you ask me. Communication has been the cornerstone of this company - the live chat feed on the homepage has been its best friend and worst enemy.  It seems like this has been irreparable damage, but only time will tell.  I do wish them luck, but for right now, stay away. My recommendation: Go back and get a business ethics education. Learn that your customers are not people you want to alienate.
