The Philips DVP3040V/37 DVD Player/VCR Combo has been in possession in my home for about three years and I can recall no problems with the Philips player.  Philips DVD Player/VCR Combo is definitely a must buy, if you have videos in possession. Nothing is more annoying than having to switch your TV from a clunky VCR player to a DVD Player. Plus, the compactness of the Philip's player saves on space. It is also a great back up on hand, if suddenly your built in DVD player goes out (This happened recently in my home due to over heating of the DVD player that is attached on my Coby TV.)!    The Philips Combo player has a built in clock and up and down buttons for changing channels. However, it doesn't contain buttons to skip parts of a movie on a DVD. This is an annoyance when you lose the control!   Other controls on the Philips DVD Player/VCR Combo are record (Only VCR side), fast forward (Only VCR Side), rewind (Only VCR Side), and pause/stop.
