Pampered Chef Bamboo Spatula Set: Great For Pasta
There are times when you need to use a certain type of spatula to get a job done in the kitchen. For pasta I prefer to use wood or bamboo spatulas because I don't have to worry about the edge of a plastic or silicone spatula melting or getting soft while I am stirring the pasta. The two piece set from Pampered Chef is easy to clean but you need to make sure that all of the starch is removed from them when you are washing them. They are listed as being dishwasher safe on the package but they can end up getting food stuck to them during the rinse cycle. The only downside to the bamboo spatulas is that they can absorb scents and smells so if you are using these when making pasta sauce or anything with spices you need to wash them in hot water and scrub the areas that have come in contact with food. If you wash them when you are done using them you shouldn't have any problems with them becoming stained. Over time the bamboo is going to darken a little and you could end up seeing some brown spots on the handles; that's normal and something that's part of the aging process of the spatulas. The first set I got lasted about two years before they started to develop small cracks in them; I opted to replace them and not take a chance of having bacteria grow in the cracks.
