Great laptop

Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 064656U Notebook - Core i7 i7-740QM 1.73GHz - 15.6" - Black:

I bought this directly on the lenovo site because I was looking for a fast all in one entertainment system on my laptop. It is slightly heavy but thats also because of the large screen. One year down the line I noticed that one of the hinges has come lose mainly because of the screen weight and I need to send it back to lenovo to get it fixed. It does tend to also just crash and power off without any reason. I'm not sure if the whole lot of features pre installed by lenovo tends to slow down the system and cause this. I'm using windows 7 on the system so the OS is smooth without any problems. In retrospect, I would rather go for a smaller size lenovo so that its an easier weight to deal with.

Great performance

Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 064656U Notebook - Core i7 i7-740QM 1.73GHz - 15.6" - Black:

Sleek laptop, i really like the design. The performance of the laptop is also really great. I used it to play some games and the graphics are pretty smooth. Watching movies on this laptop is also really nice. The speakers are above average (for laptops), unlike other laptops which have very poor sound quality. I really like the face recognition software it has for loggin in. This way i can just sit in front of it to log in without having to type in my password. My brother and i look similar and the recognition software wouldn't let him login. The laptop is loaded with some nice hardware too. Great graphics card, great processor, plenty of memory. I also like the display, its nice and big with very crisp picture. Having a HDMI port is also really nice too. I can easily hook it up to the TV to watch movies. I sometimes use this laptop for some 3D modeling too. I was pretty amazed it ran the software. unlike my previous laptop where simply tasks would take forever to load. I got this laptop at a pretty good deal too, I think it's worth every penny.

Amazing quality and performance for the price!

Comments about Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 064656U Notebook - Core i7 i7-740QM 1.73GHz - 15.6" - Black:

A little bit about me first: I've been a Systems Manager in the IT field for over 20 years now and have had the opportunity to work with and on so many different systems there's no use counting anymore. What you need to know right off the bat is that this is the system that I researched and bought for my own personal use. So with that said, here's the review:

This performance laptop offers fast cpu and memory combined with great graphics processing power. This little beauty can do it all, and all at the same time with the multi-core processor. Comparable systems I've seen running to almost twice the price of the Ideapad 550/560 series. Now don't get me wrong, there are a few things I'd improve or change if I could: first would be I wish their built in hard drive was a little faster. That seems to be the only component that slows the system down and drops down the Windows Experience rating from a perfect 6.0. That being said, the ability to boot from an SSD (solid-state drive) I believe more than compensates for the lack of speed in the main storage unit. The graphics are crisp, clear, and the screen has a wide viewing angle. The graphics processing power is in no way lacking, whether you get it with the nVidia or ATI video processors you'll have a great viewing experience for games and HD movies. The second con is the weight of the system, though I have no real idea how they could decrease that without a loss of funcionality or performance. It just seems a little on the heavy side to me. Oh, and the built-in subwoofer rocks! I've owned one now since they first came out and can say go for it without reservation.
