I purchased this blu ray player about 3 weeks ago and was happily surprised by its performance.  Its up-scaling of DVDs is fantastic.  The picture quality it delivers is great; I never liked the picture on my year old LCD TV before.  I would have preferred a player that would stream Netflix and Vudu but for the price I am more than happy with the player.  There is no wifi but if you're looking for a basic player to play DVDs and blu rays and are on a budget I would highly recommend this machine.

Received this as a gift, and I'm sooo happy to have gotten it! I would have even gone out and bought it myself. I think it all depends on what your needs are. I personally don't use netflix, or much of the internet apps, so this blu-ray player is perfect for me! If you do, then you should look at the higher end models in this series. Please be aware that there is no wifi built in for the few apps that it does come with, so you must either directly connect this, or buy one of those bridge routers. I use this player at least 90% of the time to play movies and shows off my external hard drive which you can connect in the front to the usb port. It's been amazing so far, playing any types of movies I throw at it (avi, mp4, mkv, etc)! Not only that, but it loads the movies very quick too. The blu-ray playback itself as been flawless and picture perfect as well. The program settings are very easy to navigate and pretty much fool-proof. The remote is great too (and really light like the player). I like how it also has basic functions for the TV on the remote (power on/off, mute, switching input modes/channels, & adjusting volume), so I don't always have to reach for the TV remote!

We received this LG bluray player for Christmas and it is a great bluray player.  It was packed very well so that it wasn't jostled in the box.  It came with a remote and batteries and also the different cords to hook it up with.  I was disappointed that it didn't come with an HDMi cord, but my sister had one so we just took hers.  It is set up so stream Netflix instantly but we do not subscribe to Netflix so that doesn't matter to me.  I also received a few bluray movies for Christmas so we watched one Christmas night.  It was very easy to hook it up to my television because we had an HDMi cord, just plug one end into the receiver and one end in the back of the television and it worked.  The picture was very clear and the sound was excellent.  I would definitely recommend this LG Bluray player to anyone and everyone.  Also the price was very reasonable and it looks nice in my entertainment center and when you turn it on it says hello.

This network enabled Bluray player is a  nice basic bluray player. It does not have wi-fi or Netflix streaming, but it is good for playing all kinds of digital media. First of all, it is very easy to set up the player. You will need to buy HDMI cables if you wish to get its full 1080p quality picture, because it does not include any.  The built quality is good. Player is light.  It plays all kinds of disks (VCD, DVD, Bluray, etc.). It can play media files on data DVDs.  Front USB port can read thumb drives and portable hard drives. I have connected NTFS formatted 500 GB hard drive which includes lot of mkv and avi videos. Almost all video files can be played. But I have experienced some problems with some files, probably the codecs are not included. Sometimes the player could not read the external hard disk, if it was connected to the USB port when powered on. I had to remove the hard drive and re-connect to get it work. It doesn't stream Netflix or any other major movie streamers. So this is not for a heavy movie streamers. It has youtube streaming capability. The built in "accu weather" app is useless. We can't enter the zip code. Instead we have to choose the few cities listed. One nice thing about this app is that it changes the background picture features according to the weather of the selected city. I don't like the remote at all. The button layout is terrible! I pressed "home" button instead of "pause" button many times. If you are looking for a basic and relatively inexpensive Bluray player, this is a good choice. But lack of wi-fi and no Netflix streaming is a deal breaker for those who watch lot of online movies.

We got this LG BD530 Blu-Ray  Disc player for Christmas and I absolutely love it!! It is super easy to use!! Its very nice looking, it came out of the box shiny black. The picture is so clear! When you watch a blu-ray on it, it looks like you could reach out and touch the actors. It comes with a user's manual, but honestly we didn't read it, it's just that easy to use. It comes with a very nice looking remote, which has all the buttons clearly marked so you know whats what. It has where you can watch dvds or blu-rays, view pictures, connect to the internet using a cable, listen to music, and it is able to play youtube videos. In my opinion, this is a top of the line blue-ray player. Its simple to use, it's not too expensive, and it seems like it would have a long life to it. This would be great for an entertainment room, kids room, or living room. I would definatly recommend this blu-ray player to anyone!
