Comments about Josie Maran Natural Volume Lip Gloss - Optimism:
**Update 12/5/11 - I wrote to Josie Maran and told them how horrible the applicator was. They must have already known because they told me they had new applicators coming in and would mail me one. I got the new applicator and LOVE it. This was a 3-star review, but I've updated it to 5 stars since my only qualm was the applicator.**
Despite the 3-star rating, I actually LOVE this lip gloss. I love the color, I love the natural ingredients, I love the way it looks on my lips and I love its slight shimmery shine. If it weren't for the brush, it would be close to perfect.
**Josie Maran Natural Volume Lip Gloss** came in a Josie Maran Beauty in a Box that I bought at Sephora.com. The box was an assortment of Josie Maran cosmetics that included: [GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara] , Organic Argan Oil, eyeshadow, eyeliner and lipstick.
The color of this lip gloss, Optimism, is really pretty. It's a neutral, sandy beige color that has a shimmer and lots of shine (not as gold as the picture makes it look). I have pale colored lips, but I really think this lip gloss would look nice on anybody's lips. It contains an ingredient called Argan Oil, which is a moisturizing oil found in the desert of Morocco that is filled with antioxidants. It adds to the good-for-your-lips aspect since this product is also made of natural ingredients. The texture of this lip gloss is pretty thick and a little sticky, but it's so pretty, I don't mind.
What I DO mind is the horrible, and I mean horrible brush. After applying this lip gloss and putting the wand back in the tube, the bristles on the brush don't fit well in the narrow hole, so they flare out and bend. The next time you pull the wand out of the tube, the bristles are all spiky and sticking out, which makes it very hard to apply this lip gloss. It reminds of L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara with all the spikes.
If **Josie Maran Natural Volume Lip Gloss** had a sponge-tip applicator, or just a better applicator in general, I would gladly give it five stars. However, the brush/bristles are SO bad, I had to knock two stars off and give it a 3-star rating. Unless Josie updates this horrible brush, I wouldn't buy another one of these lip glosses and I wouldn't recommend it...even though I love everything else about it. The brush is THAT bad.
