High quality printer at a great price!

5

Hewlitt Packard did a great job with this printer.  I have had this for about a year and have had no problems with it. It prints with great quality and have not had to replace ink yet. The price was awesome and again the quality is outstanding.  Thanks again for such a wonderful product from Hewlitt Packard.

great for printing out pictures

My husband & I use this printer daily for small jobs. We also use this printer for gifts-to print out pictures as well. The quality is great and the speed is amazing. I recommend this product to anyone needing a quality product.

A decent office machine, but too much for home

4

I have been using one of these for a couple of years, but in an office setting, where size and weight are not as important. The reason we chose this particular machine is that it is one of the more cost-effective color printers out there, and, like the other review said, you do save a little on not having to replace all your cartridges at once. We have printed mailings and fliers on this machine. It seems to have trouble with anything that is not being printed on regular paper, such as labels, or name tags, and you either have to feed it manually, or fuss with the settings. Which is ok, except that my drivers for this machine for some reason came in German. It does offer double-sided printing, if you can find it in the settings. The other little problem that I've run into is the quality of the feeding belt. The feeding belt runs right above the paper tray and its surface looks like shiny film. In its third year, one of our 2600 developed a wrinkle and then a small rip in that belt, which occasionally leaves smudges on the paper that gets printed. So overall, I would say, it's too much for home use, but ok for a small office.

I guess its okay - it wouldn't have been my choice.

I really don't like this printer. It does its job, it prints, so I guess that's why I gave it three stars. But there are quite a few things I would change. First of all, its ginormous. We have to keep it on the floor next to the desk because its so heavy and would take up so much space. It takes four separate ink cartridges, which is supposed to save you lots of money since you don't have to replace all the ink when, say, just the blue runs out. But I feel like we're buying cartridges more than before and they seem to run out so quickly. Also, this thing tells you there's a paper jam when it runs low on paper. I know that's minor, but its so annoying. Every once in awhile the display says that its "initializing", whatever that means. Its very loud while doing this and sounds like its about to print something, but it doesn't, it just runs and runs. It seems to be at random times when it does this. And then to top it all off, occasionally it just doesn't print. We don't know why and this seems really random too. It just refuses. So, like I said, it prints, which is fine. But it also has a bunch of really annoying qualities.

HP just missed with the 2600N

At first I could not believe the low cost of the HP 2600n color laser printer. then I saw what they charge for the toner and supplies. Even this would have worked if the printer was robust-- wel it just isn't . I have talked with a number fo people who have all had similar problems of color alignment and blurry pages. It turns out there is no quick fix and HP recommends that you replace the unit. Disassemble to fully clean it takes more than a day and is not for the average user. I think they really could have done a better job without a lot of effort. Somehow they did not. I WOULD STAY AWAY from this printer and find something more reliable. I think the concept was right, but the execution was very poor to say the least. It is OK to make all your money on overpriced supplies, but the product underlying must be of sufficient quality. this one just is not up to the quality you would expect from HP.

Great for Pics

I love this printer!!! It has the versatility to do reports and can all print photo quality pics as well. Color is fabulous!!! I used to have one of those printers that you had to replace the ink cartridge everytime you turn around.  But this printer I am at 2000 sheets and still going strong.

My HP 2600n Printer is the best laserjet ever!

I bought this Hewlett Packard Color LaserJet 2600n a 2-3 years ago and it has been the most trusty printer. Right now it is finally getting low on toner. I print a lot. From photos to coupons all the time. I have gone through probably 3-4 reams of paper and tons of labels and it still has some toner left. The only reason I gave this a 4 star and not a 5 is it drains major energy and makes our bathroom lights blink because they are on the same circuit and also after even just a one page print job it does it "cycle" charge that some printers do and I think it may be wasting toner doing that. Other than that it has had excellent image quality and lasted forever!

The HP 2600n fills the bill for my small office!

After purchasing the HP Color LaserJet 2600n I set it up quickly with the accompanying instructions and fired it up.  The quality was everything I require as a Graphics Designer.  The speed is a little on the slow side, so I wouldn't recommend it in a large office environment, but for my one-person home office it's more than adequate. The biggest trick to getting quality print outs from any laser printer is to use the special paper that is on the market.  Using copy paper for everyday printing not only looks shabby, but it's not designed for use on a laser printer.  Even the photo paper MUST be for laser printers or you'll lose your glossy finish because the inkjet paper absorbs the toner. The HP 2600n is built with the finest quality and performance you could ask for.  It's almost silent when printing and its warm up time is relitively short compared to some other color laser printers. All in all I believe my investment in the HP 2600n was well justified when compared to its performance.

Great print quality, easy to use, expensive toner replacement.

I've owned HP Inkjet, Photo and Laser printers for over 10 years. I currently own an HP2605dn Color Laser Printer. I prefer HP to others, because of the print quality and price of the printer. The biggest down fall is the cost of replaceing the toner, which is more costly than other brands. You could by a whole new printer for the cost of replacing the 4 different toner colors.    I haven't had much trouble with the HP Laser printers but when I have, the customer service has been quite fair most of the time.. but sometimes a very long process to get a hold of a person to talk to.
