Humana used to provide 180 tablets of Glucosamine Chondroitin to seniors who were on their plan, free of charge, every 3 months. They stopped this a couple of years ago. Len had been taking it for several years, while it was free. Recently his hips were getting worse, so I decided to put him back on 2 Glucosamine Chondroitin a day. Both of these are supposed to help support healthy joint function. Since Len has been taking it again, I haven't seen his hip giving out, or him holding it with the pain. I don't think that this is a miracle drug, but do feel that it helps to slow down the aches and pains, related to the possible loss of range of motion. I feel that the years he was taking it, we didn't notice that it was helping. It was only after a couple of years not taking it, that the pain in the joints, seemed to be a problem. From now on he will be taking it twice a day.

Glucosamine is great because many clinical studies have proven it to have a successful impact on connective tissue in joints through out the body, when taking 1500 mg a day. The con for combining it with chondroitin is, that in clinical studies chondroitin has not been proven to have any positive effect on connective tissue. But clinical studies have found deposits of chondroitin in males, but they are not joint related. The studies have shown that in biopsies of the prostrate in males with prostrate cancer, there were deposits of chondroitiin. They do not draw any conclusions that chondroitin causes the cancer however the deposits of this supplement in the gland is of some concern.

I am not a fan of taking medicines so finding a more natural pain reliever is a must. Having a rare disease (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva) my joints seem to ache more in the winter than warmer seasons. Glucosamine Chondroitin allows me to feel better without feeling drugged. It comes in a liquid as well as pill form which is good for people who have trouble swallowing big pills!

When my doctor told me I should try this to help with my bad knee's I whole heartedly went out and bought some. It is not a cheap product for an over the counter product that you need to take regularly. I do however like that it is an all natural product and that it has proven benefits for joint relief. He had me get insoles for arch support and Glucosamine Chondroitin to build cartilege. Its been a year and a half and the combination seems to help some. Though my knee caps are still loose there does not seem to be quite as much pain. As a cartilege builder I'm not sure about that but as a pain releiver it does help some. It seemed to take a long time for it to start helping you need to be patient.

I was skeptical trying glucosamine but it really does work! When you have the aches and pains that come along with age, take this as directed and they will disappear. I am just amazed at how effective this is and when you are adding it to the budget remember, you will use much less pain reliever and ben-gay type products.I use it everyday, have had no side effects from it ( I also take synthroid), and I am much more active now than I have been in years.
