I started using this radar/laser detector about a year ago since my dad moved out of the country and it was left behind in his vehicle. Im not sure how much he paid for it or even where he bought it but it was free to me and I love it. I tend to go a little over the speed limit and generally do not get caught which is a good thing I guess. I've been using it now for about a year and the thing that i like most about it is that it detects radars, lasers, safelty alert-equipped vehicles and emergency vehicles using something called a "strobe alert" all with a 360 degree detection. So it not only detects those vehicles in front of you like most radar detectors do. I also like that you can mute this detector if your on the phone or if you just dont feel like hearing it. By muting its voice alerts you can also choose to view alerts with the digital text display screen. Unlike older radar detectors this one is built to block out signals that you would normally receive by driving by grocery stores. Very small, manageable and compact and doesnt take up alot of space since I have mine suction cupped to the windshiled. I love this little radar detector and will probably recommend it to any one thats looking for one.
