Inexpensive alternative to bottled water

5

Living in the Midwest means ice and snow and this winter has been brutal. Inevitably the main will freeze somewhere and our water supply will be disrupted. That means keeping bottled water around for those emergencies or having to run to the store and purchase water until it is repaired. When the water company does get that main fixed you end up with air and such in your water. Our solution was to purchase a Brita filter for not only these times but for everyday use. I went online and purchased mine at Amazon and have been using it for about two months. I think once you begin using it that it takes longer to flush it out than they say on the instructions. We watered plant with the first 4 pitchers and then started drinking it. It took about a week to really notice a difference. Now that we have been using it longer I don't think we will ever be without one again. It makes such a difference in the taste of your tap water and is so much cheaper than buying battled. I use filtered water now to make both tea and coffee and cooking as well. The pitcher washes up great in just warm soapy water and is ready to be refilled and go back in the fridge. My only complaint is that the lid could fit just a little tighter as it does have a tendency to come off while pouring if not careful. I like this so much that I am planning to purchase another spare and one for my daughter for my grandchildren to have filtered water.

Cleans our tap water.

Living in California, we are water aware. I am trying to avoid using bottled water due to the impurities of the plastic container. This filter jug by Brita is wonderful. It instantly takes out the chlorine smell that sometimes come from the tap water. It is one simple and helpful step to ensuring the cleanliness and safety of my family's drinking water. I have a few negative comments. First, the cost of the replacement filters is rather high. I also really wish, besides marking a calendar, there was another way to know when it was time to change the filter so that I can get as much use out of it as possible. I hate the thought of switching it out too soon and wasting it, or leaving it too long past its usefulness. My final frustration, and a small one at that, is that it does take a while to filter water and if you pour it too early, not only is the water not filtered, but it can spill everywhere.

Saves So Much Money

5

One of my friends actually suggested that I start using a Brita® filter. I was spending a lot of money on water bottles, and my garbage would fill up fast due to the amount of water bottles that I would go through. After I started using this version of the Brita® water filters, and I have saved so much money due to not buying packages of water bottles constantly. I have not bought any juices or water bottles since last August. I only change the filter once every three months. I am prone to dehydration, so I am constantly using the filter to drink tap water. The water tastes just like bottled water. Being a college student, I am very happy with the amount of money that I am saving using this water filter. I do highly suggest that people buy this product so that they can save money. Also, you would be reducing the amount of waste you would be creating using plastic water bottles. If you are not very environmentally conscious, then you can think of it as a way to save a lot of money on your end.

I love this product, I do wish it was just a bit bigger but it is just fine for my husband and I. I have been using Brita for almost 10 years now and I love it. I use it at home, at my mothers home, my mother in law and even at work! I think everybody should have a brita!

This is a lot of trouble and I'm not convinced it does much

The pitcher is well made and should hold up but it takes up a lot of space in the fridge and I found it very awkward to fill, handle in general, and move in and out of the fridge. In fact I had to rearrange a shelf to allow it to sit and it is not handy at all. I am not sure exactly how long they will last but it is to large to put in the dishwasher so that means the water that I clean with wasn't as hot. We couldn't tell that the water tasted any better and I worried that the water should be completely emptied and the pitcher cleaned prior to refilling and it never seemed to be empty at a convenient time. Overall the quality of the material used to make the pitcher seems sturdy I question it it will crack if dropped and with small children this pitcher is just to much weight and awkward for them to handle so I found myself constantly having to help them get a drink. I would not recommend this pitcher if children will be trying to pour from it.

Brita Classic Pitcher makes my not so great town water drinkable

5

I've had a Brita Classic Pitcher for quite a few years, and I couldn't imagine my household without it. Our town water isn't the greatest, and tastes pretty horrible. The Brita Pitcher definitely makes me able to drink my own town water. It also cuts down on buying bottled water. It's really easy to put the filter in, and everything can be taken out to clean. Just pour the water in the top and after it filters through and is in the biggest part of the pitcher it's ready to drink! The filters sometimes can be pricy, but we wait until special sales and sometimes coupons for them to get them for cheaper. The filters last 3 months, or earlier if you fill it up constantly. I will continue to use my Brita Pitcher until it falls apart.

I wouldn't drink water any other way

I live in a city with notoriously bad tap water, and the Brita pitcher has become essential to me. It works very effectively, my water always tastes great and I don't worry about ingesting any harmful chemicals. Much better for the earth than bottled water. The replacement filters are pretty expensive.

Much Easier To Use Than PUR

4

I've replaced my PUR water pitcher with this Brita model and I must say I'm very satisfied with its performance. The top stays ob securely as opposed to the PUR, which was always falling off and spilling the unfiltered water from the reservoir into the filtered water. If I had one complaint it would be that occasionally the filter slips out of place.
