My husband and I got a water filter pitcher when we got married. We got these filter replacements as part of the wedding gift. They have been great for us. You soak it in water for about 15 minutes before putting it in your pitcher. Then, you place it in the middle of the pitcher and run water through it. It can be a little time consuming when you have to switch them out. However, it does not take a terribly long time and it is worth it for the water quality. Also, when you change a filter out, they can be hard to get out of the pitcher due to being wet. I usually wrap a towel around the filter before pulling it out. Overall, it is a really good product. Each filter replacement lasts for about 2 to 3 months. They produce some black residue but it usually stays trapped in the top of the pitcher. They are pretty expensive but a pack of them will last you a while. Therefore, you only have to spend the money a few times a year. I would recommend these to anyone looking for clean water.

I used to buy bottled water then I switched to using the water machines at the grocery store; a gallon cost .25 cents and the water was filtered and had no chemical smell to it. Lugging the eight pound jugs of water once a week wasn't fun but it was a necessity until I got my first Brita pitcher. The replacement filters are a necessity if you want filtered water; I live in an area that gets its water from the city and there are times that it has a funny taste to it or it comes out of the tap brown. Yes, brown water. When they are drilling, doing road repairs or working on the water lines it stirs up all of the gunk in the lines. Every time I see it my stomach turns because I know that at some point in time the water coming out of the tap has come in contact with all that sediment. The replacement filters need to be soaked in water to allow the charcoal flakes to rinse out of the container housing. Running it under water isn't going to be enough to get it all out and you will end up with the charcoal flakes in the water or in the reservoir. It isn't something that is going to harm you but if you pour a glass of water for someone and they see the flakes, chances are they are not going to drink it unless they know what it is (or they have a Brita and go through the same thing from time to time). My pitcher has a digital read out on the top that blinks when I need to change the filter. I used to buy them individually but when I did the math on them it was more cost effective to get the multi pack. In the summer everyone is drinking more water so when I can find the family size twelve pack at the price club I get one and that is usually enough to last the whole summer.

I love these filters! I have both a Brita water bottle and a pitcher. The water bottle allows me to save money on purchasing bottled water, while I'm on the go. (Which I often am). I often make trips across the country by car and love having this water bottle with me to fill up with fountain water. I have tested the quality of these filters by tasting water that has a funny taste straight from the tap and then filling up my Brita. The filter really does clear any funny taste out!

I bought the Brita Replacement Filter, 3 Pack when it was on sale. My old filter was dirty, and I didn't have an extra one to use. Then I saw the triple pack was on sale. The convenience of having an extra filter on hand is great. You can remove the old one and insert the new one without having to make a fast trip to the store. The packaging says one filter can replace 300 water bottles. When you figure out the price of that many bottles of water, the replacement filters are cheap. Average time for one filter to last is two months. My first filter went longer than that, but I guess that depends on the water used. The Brita charcoal filter removes taste and odor. There's nothing worse than wanting a drink of water and discovering it smells horrible. The triple pack of filters is handy and takes up very little space on the shelf. An added bonus is the Box Tops for Education coupon.
