I have used several other types (brands) of computers, many different price ranges,  and have found that the Acer Aspire 4520 has been the best choice for me. It is consistantly accurate, dependable, never overheats and can be counted on at all times. I use my Acer Aspire for all my school work as I am continually taking classes to extend my education. Currently I am taking classes in website development and using my Aspire to learn graphic manipulation, website design, content development and java coding. This computer has passed up all my expectations. I have plenty of storage for my graphics, photos and text books. The Dolby Digital Live has been fantastic, it is the best sound quality yet. I havent even started to uncover all the technology found in this machine.  It comes with Windows Vista already programmed in and many other programs for my creativity to run wild. I also like the fact that the Aspire has a "Crystal Eye" web cam. I have just started to learn how to use it. I am going to incorporate videos in my website to help with sales.

The wifi has been a blessing. There have been several times that I have been out and about and had to rely on someone elses internet connection to close a deal or check my e-mail and it never fails. Always has a connction.

My daughter has a ******  laptop computer and it is always overheating and crashing. She has had so much trouble with it that I have told her to fix it, sell it and buy an ACER.

I am reviewing the Acer Aspire 4520.  I received this laptop as a gift in December 2007.  It has had issues right from the start.  It will, without warning, just up and reboot.  There will be no error logs in the system log files.  I also have system warning popups, telling me that a USB device needs to be plugged into a faster USB port for better results.  When investigating this further, I find that it is referring to the built in web cam, which of course is internal.  There have been multiple times when the laptop has crashed and attempted to reboot and when it restarts there will be no display, just a black screen.  No hard drive activity either.  Again, there will be nothing displayed in the logs to help identify what is going on.  I contacted Acer support and found them impossible to work with.  I mentioned to them that the machine came loaded with Windows Vista, but there were files present on the machine that showed that it once had Windows XP.  It was obvious that it was not a clean install, but rather an upgrade.  Microsoft has stated that a clean install is the best way to go.  Acer refused to admit that it was an upgraded laptop.  When I insisted that there was something wrong with the laptop, they agreed to let me send it in.  They kept it on the bench for 24 hours and then returned it to me saying they found nothing wrong with it.  It has continued to have the same problems.  I would never purchase another Acer product.

I' ve really been impressed with my acer-aspire 4520!

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

My Acer aspire 4520, has been exactly what I was shopping for ! I was looking for an inexpensive lap-top that I could take to some pretty messy job locations. Being in the building business -- sometimes requires alot of my time away from home, my acer keeps me intouch with my family and business contacts.  I guess I do probably use it as much for personal use than business.  I have closed many a business deal and made many dinner reservations.

I am completely satisfied with the qualityand preformance of this laptop. And the tech. help in simply amazing!  The  CrystalBrite LCD screen is just that -   CrystalBrite !! And the Acer Video Conferencer has saved me an awful lot of traveling.  But when I do have to travel, the Arcade deluxe helps me pass a lot of rainy days. The games are awesome ! I find that the games are of high quality and easy to navigate. Just not real good at some of them.

I would gladly recommend the Acer Aspire 4520 to anyone looking for an inexpensive lap-top !!!

Acer aspire 4520 is a good laptop for anyone on the go.

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

The Acer aspire 4520 is my 1st laptop. Having two kids to watch and being a stay at home mom (SAHM), I wanted to be able to check email, look up recipes, or chat with other Mom's, but keep an eye on my kids, at the same time. Sitting at the desk top was a hindrances, because I was in a corner and I couldn't see behind me.

My husband gave me my laptop for Valentine's Day. It was one of the cheapest ones, at the time, but it also had everything I needed. At the time I got my laptop, I was also playing The Sims 2. This laptop had what I needed, to be able to play the game, without problems.

It came loaded with Windows Vista and it was ready to go. It came with WiFi, a built in webcam, AMD Athlon 64x2 Duel-Core Processor, 1GB DDR2, 120GB HDD. It also plays DVD's.

The only negative I can say about it, is the small screen size. It's only 15" and it took a bit to get use to the smaller screen, after looking at a 21" screen.

I've had it for over a year now and I'm pretty happy with it.

Acer aspire is a quality laptop for the price

By

from Wilmington, NC

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

The Acer aspire is an inexpensive computer that is great for the price. I use my desktop for all of my heavy-duty computing, such as gaming and graphics design. My Acer notebook is what I use for surfing the internet and document creation. Because it is portable, it's easy to take with me anywhere. I bought an Acer after my previous notebook overheated and died on me after only six months of using it. I have had no such problems with my Acer notebook. It does not overheat, and in fact, it does not get very hot at all. It is not the most attractive notebook in the world, but if I wanted pleasing aesthetics, I would have forked over more cash. It also is not the most lightweight computer in the world, but its weight is not bothersome in the least. My only real complaint with the Acer is that is can be slow and it occasionally gives me a hard time about connecting to wireless internet. Other than that, I am more than pleased with my purchase. It serves my purpose and when it runs its course and dies on me, I'll be purchasing another Acer.

This laptop sucks.

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

This laptop has continually had problems overheating.  I sent the laptop back and didn't get anywhere with customer support.  They had it on the bench less than 24 hours and couldn't reproduce the error, so they declared there was nothing wrong with it.  There are streaks that run across the screen, they simply ignored my comments on that.  Don't buy an acer.

The Acer Aspire 4520 has been sturdy and long-lasting.

By

from Catonsville, MD

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

I received my Acer Aspire 4520 as a birthday present more than two years ago. At first I was disappointed it came with Windows Vista, but over time I came to like the new features of the operating system. The Athlon dual-core processor has only rarely gotten overwhelmed. However, it absolutely needs a RAM upgrade to run the OS properly; I'm currently running Windows 7 (which admittedly has slightly lower system requirements) on 4 gigs of RAM.

I've traveled often with this laptop and it's never been a hassle. I've also managed to spill water on the keyboard with no ill effects, after drying out for a day or two -- and even a whole plate of spaghetti (don't ask) required only a bit of cleanup and a replacement keyboard.

The multiple memory card readers were also very useful to me while I traveled -- I was able to read the memory card from my digital camera right out of the box. Wireless connectivity is also usually painless to set up.

All in all, as a simple laptop for someone who's not interested in extreme performance or in micromanaging tweaks, but wants more than a bare-bones netbook, Aspire 4520 from Acer provides good value for its cost.

Worth more than its original sale price!

By

from Denison, TX

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

I had always heard that Acers were truly the short end of the stick when shopping for computers. Everyone said they just weren't that great, even though they were cheap-basically you got what you paid for. Well, I decided to risk disappointment, and I got an Acer laptop a little over a month ago-I partitioned the hard drive for Vista and 7, and transferred all of my files from my desktop to my laptop. Ever since the day I bought it, using it has been absolute heaven. I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but I have had absolutely no problems with it. It runs just as well as my Compaq desktop, if not better, and it has so much more space and memory. It runs fast, is equipped with software and hardware I not only need but want, and I think it is indeed worth a lot more than I paid for it. I love this computer! It is fairly light, so taking it with me wherever I go is a pretty much every day occurence. And it is also very sturdy-it's fallen off the side of my bed a few times, and it has had no problems whatsoever! So my advice is, ignore the price tag-higher prices don't always mean better quality. I would buy another Acer in a heartbeat!

ACER ASPIRE 4520

By

from Dayton, OH

Comments about Acer Aspire Notebook PC:

Well I purchase this laptop last year and I have had nothing but alot of trouble with it . One was updates had trouble getting updates to happen and when I called ACER customer service they advised me to  do a system restore and go in and do several different things that I was confused with and becoming upset having to do . Being a new laptop I shouldn't have do this . Well it started to work then about 5 months later I started having trouble again and lost alot of important information . I call acer again and before they will honor the warranty they wanted me do all these different steps again and it took like almost a hour . Well it worked to get it back so still instead of taking it to someone to see why it is doing this they told me that computer is fine now . Ok guess what acouple of weeks ago it did it again after the warranty had expired and now they wont do anything I will never purchase another ACER computer again they are the worst system I have ever owned and I have advised anyone looking in getting a ACER computer not to .
