The Little Airline That Was

3

Air Jamaica isn't really around anymore. They merged with Caribbean Airlines a few years ago and I think they only have a couple of planes left at this point. My husband and I flew them a number of years ago when we were traveling to Jamaica out of Miami. Switching airlines and flying the local airline was significantly less expensive than staying on the major United States international carrier. Service The customer service offered on the day of travel was above average, but how could you not have an amazing attitude when living in Jamaica. The customer service representatives were quite helpful and assisted with all of our needs. The plane itself, on the other hand, was a little outdated. The seat back in front of me was broken, as well as the tray table. It made the flight a little frustrating at times, but the thought of my final destination kept my spirits up.

Air Jamaica is the best airline.

I love air Jamaica for so many reasons. The food is great. I love when they serve rice and peas and chicken, or ackee and salt fish. The flight attendants are friendly and very attentive. The flight is always on time, which is very important. I can count on air Jamaica to depart as scheduled. I feel safe on air Jamaica, and that is why i always go right to sleep, and feel like i am at home. when it comes to flying, air Jamaica is my first choice.

I flew with this airline August and September of 2013. I boarded at Orlando International airport in Orlando Florida. The destination was Norman Grantley Airport in Kingston Jamaica. The deception started as soon as I checked in at the airport. There really isn't an air jamaica by it self. This airline has been bought over by carribbean airlines. They just left the air jamaica paint on the planes. The service was horrible. The flight was almost three hours, all they served was a small cup of soda or juice. For entertainment, they showed a movie, but most people couldn't even understand a word, as the headphones just didn't work in the jacks or the jacks themselves didn't work. When I arrived at immigration in Jamaica, I got an earful from the immigration officer because I didn't fill out a customs declaration form. Gues what? The airline didn't have any to hand out. These form are free from the government of Jamaica. The airline didn't even make passengers aware that they had to obtain these forms and fill them out before you reach immigration and customs. To top things off, my bag ended up on the island of Trinidad. This flight continued to Trinidad from Jamaica and so they took my luggage to Trinidad. I got it half way through my stay in Jamaica. Service no food, no good entertainment In-Flight Accommodations no declaration forms, bad communication from flight crew to passengers

My husband and I traveled to Jamaica (Montego Bay) at the end of June 2007. We booked with Air Jamaica for the first time specifically to take advantage of the travel times in comparison to other airlines. We were completely disappointed with this airline. Upon checking in at Philadelphia Int'l airport, almost 3 hours prior to our flight leaving at 6am, we found a line of people waiting to be checked in. They had 3 attendants working at the desk and a few others walking around behind them. The line moved terribly slow and we finally checked in about 25 minutes prior to our plane leaving for Jamaica. The plane's look and feel like they're still operating in ancient times. Very much in need of upgrading. The service left a lot to be desired. Outside of the "welcome" getting on the plane, the flight attendants looked as if they were forced to work for the airline. They rarely smiled and were short with passengers. I experienced this both to and from our destination. Upon arriving to Jamaica, we found out that our luggage was lost and no one could give us any answers. Employees of Air Jamaica didn't respond as one would expect in the "service" industry. They had no apologies and all they did was ask us to complete a form with information about where we were staying. They said they would contact us later with more information. A few employees at the airport said don't worry "mon" you're in Jamaica. We have no problems here, just situations. Well, you can imagine how infuriating this was to us traveling there to enjoy some quiet time away from the hussle and bussle at home to only get told that it's no problem our luggage has gone missing. There was nothing more we could do at that moment and took a shuttle to our hotel-Ritz Carlton. It was only after repeated calls by me to the front desk and the concierge and after speaking with 3 different people, I finally found a woman by the name of Sophia who assisted us in getting our luggage. It had made it's way to Kingston airport. Our entire first day was a complete waste, spent making phone calls and trying to get some answers about our luggage. Thanks to Sophia, we finally got our luggage at 11pm that night. While we didn't lose our luggage on the way back home, again travels were less than desirable. No air conditioning at airport. People packed in like sardines. Flight attendants looking like they're still being forced to work. In conclusion, we will never fly Air Jamaica again, and will likely not return to the island. For those of you out there considering it, there are many other places in the West Indies and Caribbean to explore and many other airlines that will provide a more pleasurable experience to get you there. Don't waste your money, time and patience here!!!

Air Jamaica is THE WORST AIRLINE EVER

1

Air Jamaica is the worst airline ever.  Ripped me off so bad, and when I tried to complain and get compensation, they didn't seem to care at all.  Never even returned my letters so I made a website just for them  http://www.worstairlines.com Please come by and read my nightmares and share yours as I'm sure you have some if you've flown this Air Jamaica.

This airline will rip you off - it did it to me

Air jamaica is not to be trusted.  On a recent trip to Negril, Jamaica for vacation my girlfriend had amajor medical issue.  Teh resort and hospital were very good to her but it required a day's delay in leaving.  AIR JAMAICA told it would be $150 to  - oh this is a re-book.  This is high but everyone charges something. The clerk than said oh this is a ONE WAY flight it will be $280 each for a total re-booking fee of $560 - we were being booked on our original flight 0035 - this is a ripoff and I advise you to stay away from this airline -

1 Star is too much for this airline

Good: The price for AA was $1500 to Barbados and $750 on AJ. We selected this airline only because of the price.   Good: The hot meals Bad: We sat on the airline on the ground for 6.5 hours without moving and with only one update from the crew -- to indicate that they were making a crew change.  We then had to de-ice and when we went on the runway, it took 1 hour to takeoff.  We were suppose to be in Barbados at 12:30 pm and we arrived at 7:30 pm. On our return flight we were faced with long lines and a delayed flight. Once we arrived to JFK we were told that our 3 luggages were delayed in Barbados and we should fill out a form with our number and address and we would get it.  I write this exactly one week later to say we do not have our luggage and have received no information for Air Jamaica.   This is absolutely unacceptable and Air Jamica is unable to take calls about the issue.

Best airline food I ever had

I loved my flight to Negril! Great food! I could choose between watching a movie ( a good movie at that) or listening to music (again, good music). Luckily, because I was traveling for work, it was on STS's dime. I saw my stub, it was like $600 on way from BWI to Mobay! If you have the bucks to spend, do it, especially if you have a long flight.
